You are right about the players swinging at bad pitches Harry, but don't look now, the Cubs have forced a game 7! I can only imagine what Chicago will be like if they pull off the comeback and win game 7 tonight! And "next year" is here!

Where did that rear bumper come from? I would like to find some like that in chrome and paint. -

I believe he used the long bed from the MPC 72 Chevy pickup as a reference to compare what he had to do to get the right length. I have a couple of beds and will be attempting this conversion this winter. -
Revell 1966-1977 Bronco

Charlie, The WHEELS scale out to 13", not the tires. If you look at the box art, the wheels appear to be small compared to the tires, probably one of the few complaints about this kit so far. Gregg- thanks for posting this, I already had one on order from Tower Hobbies and I think I might be ordering a couple more, not sure if I can wait until the NNL in Atlanta in 2 weeks! -
Just saw the weather forecast for this week, afternoon highs in the upper 70's/lower 80's with low humidity- looks like it's time to bust out the paints and get some bodies painted for the winter!

Just a thought about 3D printing
mikemodeler replied to mikemodeler's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Without divulging financial details, I suspect that the upfront costs were significant for you but the payoff is in the turnaround time. I wonder how long before more resin casters are following the timeline laid out here? Take a new kit release (like the Ford Bronco), imagine if someone had the ability and equipment mentioned above and by the end of next week we had the rear flares and front push bar to create the Oly off road racer? Seems to me like it would beat Revell to the punch if they were intending to offer that version but would definitely drive sales for the new issue! -
I just ordered this kit from Tower Hobbies and they are having a special right now with no shipping on all orders over $25, so I found a few more things I think I can't live without and got my order in.

Just a thought about 3D printing

Some great responses here, and I appreciate everyone contributing to the topic. It will be interesting to see how this progresses and the changes we see in our hobby from the cottage industry companies. -

SELtd has a large selection of diorama type items. Squads by Tony has a lot of lightbars and emergency vehicle equipment. -
I know I met Mike many years ago at some of the shows in the Milwaukee area. Nice guy to talk with and a wealth of information on all things Mopar. Sorry to hear of his passing and prayers to his family.

In reading through many of the posts here recently, it got me to thinking about 3D printing and our hobby and some possibilities. We are all mourning the closing of The Modelhaus and hoping that someone will buy them and keep the company running, myself included. We also worry about other long time resin casters and if/when they decide to retire and the effect it will have on our hobby. I think we all know that resin casting is a tough business and have seen many companies come and go over the years and obviously if it were easy money and easy to do, we would all be doing it! I got to thinking about how 3D printing could help a resin caster shorten the time frame to develop masters to cast and also increase the realism and accuracy. In a recent PM conversation with a resin caster, he wants to offer more items but struggles with the time factor in developing new masters and running a business in addition to having a day job. I think there are some resin casters out there who have mastered 3D printing (Chief Joseph comes to mind) and have used it to bring items to our hobby with success and hope that there are more like him. In reading about the upcoming 66 Chevy Suburban from Revell, I couldn't help but notice that some of us were lamenting the lack of a 4wd drivetrain option or wanting the ability of a GMC grille and engine and that had me thinking that it would be a perfect opportunity for someone to fill an immediate void/need.While I lack the knowledge to execute such a plan, I am certain someone within this forum does and it might be only a matter of time before we see those options available. The point I am trying to make is that with new technology, we might not have to settle for what the model companies give us or wait until they get around to offering additional options, it could be had much sooner. I would be interested in hearing what the forum thinks about this, especially those that are in the casting business. Has/could/will 3D printing affect(ed) your business and in what way? Do you see it as a blessing or a detriment?

If you are wondering if this kit could be used as a donor for the 4wd components, it's a definite maybe. Really will depend on the front axle width. There are some resin casters out there that offer a 4wd conversion based on the AMT '78 Ford F350 Firestone kit.

Went out with family and friends last night to watch the Chicago teams play (Blackhawks and Cubs) at a bar here in Charlotte. There were 10 of us so they put us out on the patio area (with heaters) to watch the games. Had a blast as the Blackhawks came back and won in overtime and the Cubs dominated the Dodgers to win the pennant and go to the World Series for the first time since 1945! The best part was when people from other parts of the bar came out to the patio and joined us in rooting for the Cubs, never knew there were that many Cubs fans around here!

That is very nice, like all of your builds! I love the colors and details. A friend had one of those, a 66 K20 with a 292 straight 6 and 4 speed granny tranny. It would never win a drag race but could pull ANYTHING! Unfortunately it was pretty rusty and he sold it to someone who was looking for a truck to run around the farm and plow the driveway in the winter. -
I am willing to trade the F-100 tires for Bronco tires if anyone wants to swap.
-
It would be nice if they went the 2 in 1 route with the next release. Add in the half cab, wheel flares and some off road wheels/tires and it would satisfy a lot of people!

To add to Brian's information, I have seen Broncos with white, argent and chrome grilles and bumpers and don't recall if any of them were factory original. I worked with a guy a long time ago who had a 76 Bronco and the dash was body color, along with the interior sheet metal. I think he said it came that way, but he did a complete frame off rebuild of the truck and definitely painted the dash body color, chrome bumpers and painted the grille black as repainted the Bronco a dark gray. A good place to check might be Jeff's Bronco Graveyard, I believe that is who Revell leaned on for some accurate information in the development of this kit.
