Meng F350 shortwide?
mikemodeler replied to chadrob30's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Haven't done it but have thought about it! I think it would resemble a F-250 as I am not sure you can get a F-350 with the shortbed. -
Real or Model #226 FINISHED EARLY!

Going with Real, won't say why. -
Revell 4th Quarter new kit announcements
mikemodeler replied to Brett Barrow's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Hopefully they correct the door issue, otherwise there will be a 20 page thread on how awful Revell is at bringing us new models. I see at least one of these making it's way to the collection/build pile. Thanks, Mike -
And it is nice!

Where to buy engine kits
mikemodeler replied to gtcapri's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
VCG Resins, Craig Hosfeld is the guy behind VCG, member here too. Nice stuff, good service. Scale Modeling by Chris is another great one. -
I was at the Rock Hill SC Hobby Lobby yesterday and noticed some empty shelves, so I checked the tags. It looks like they will be carrying the new Revell '67 Camaro and re-issued AMT/Round 2 '68 Camaro, among others! I did notice that they have the Revell '69 Camaro ZL-1 still on the shelf at regular price while I have seen some NC Hobby Lobby stores mark it down, so who knows what is going on there!?!?! UPDATE: I was at the Hobby Lobby in Matthews NC tonight and they also had a spot on the shelf for the upcoming Revell Raptor F150 and the reissued Pepsi '75 Chevelle NASCAR. To avoid this becoming another rant against Hobby Lobby, I will lock it as I posted for information purposes only.

I wouldn't worry about a blade for the mower, unless it is displayed on it's side no one will see it. Check out Scale Equipment Limited, they have some stuff like a wheelbarrow and riding lawn mower available in resin. Your push mower would go great with a riding tractor I have from an old Indy car kit. Put me down for 3!

Revell 1969 COPO Camaro ZL-1 - Hugger Orange - Post Fixed
mikemodeler replied to RandyB.'s topic in Model Cars
Looks very nice, I have several of those first gen Camaros painted Hugger Orange, can't help myself ! -
We have a couple of Christmas shoppes here in Charlotte that have Christmas on display all year 'round! I agree that it is silly how the holidays all run together and the Christmas decorations are out too early, but like the religious stuff, if you don't want to see it, turn away!

Two ways to figure it out Chuck: 1. Calculate the cost of the resin and parts needed and add a couple of bucks for your time. 2. Sell them for $15 and hope you get enough buyers and you make a few $$ in the process. Most people making & selling resin cast items do so for minimal profit, although I hope they all make something as it can be time consuming. Might be worth asking someone who is already casting items their advice; who knows, maybe they will do it for you ? It would be a neat thing to have for a diorama.

Would these 3 sell even at high prices?
mikemodeler replied to robertburns's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Speaking for myself, I would say that those are unique subjects and might be priced out of reach for many modelers. The Future Liner is a cool subject but not many people I know can spend $400 for a kit. The Corvair is nice, but IMHO has a somewhat limited appeal. The Caprice is probably your best shot at a good seller but keep in mind that Modelhaus does a similar Impala kit for $68. Always good to see new subjects available, hope they do well for you. -
Chuck, Cast a couple of copies and I'm a buyer!

That would look great in a garage diorama or in the back of pickup or trailer.

Very nice, congrats on the purchase!

Apparently you are not familiar with the Hobby Lobby story. If you are interested, Google them and you will see that the ownership has deep religious beliefs and yes, has some Christian related items in their store. They are the only national retail store that I am aware of that is closed on Sundays, specifically so their employees can spend time with their families and worship at church. If you find Hobby Lobby offensive, I would advise you find a different store as they aren't going to change their business because of you.

This picture convinced me that I need to add this kit to my buy list. Something sinister about that car in black.

The old Goodyear Wrangle A/Ts ! I might have to get one of these just because I like compact pickups and it would go well with the Toyota, Luv and Dodge pickups in the to do pile.

Charlie, Welcome to the forum and be sure to look around, plenty to learn! Hobby Lobby will have a decent selection of some of the current kits available, be sure to print off their 40% off coupon or if you have a smart phone, have it ready at the checkout. There are a bunch of items to look at for detailing in a Hobby Lobby, be sure to walk the aisles.
