Been away for most of the week, anyone know of any updates to this? Scale Master hasn't been here in several weeks, anyone know why? He was making great progress and all those detail parts he's been making are incredible.

Best Cragar SS wheels?
mikemodeler replied to Andrew's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Fireball Modelworks has a beautiful set of Cragars. They need to be chromed but they are beautiful. -
I saw some updates on this on another forum, wonder why Scale Master hasn't posted them here?

I have seen several of his builds here, nothing short of masterpieces. The details he picks out and stuff he makes from scratch, you'd swear it was a real car part shrunk down for models!

Two weeks and no updates? Hope to see some new pictures soon!

Ollie's strike again
mikemodeler replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This happens all the time. I was at a hobby show swap meet about 5 years ago, it was a month after Ollie's had a big sale. There was a jughead there who had a bunch of Ollie's kits marked up two to two and half times the price he bought them for. Us regulars didn't recognize the seller, they probably had a relative sitting in for them, and needless to say they went home with most of what they brought. There were a few show visitors who made a purchase, but word spread pretty quick about the table of Ollies specials and they were avoided like the plague. On top of it all, the person at the table would not make deals, saying they had to get marked price. These shows have a couple of regular sellers who will often buy up other tables of kits, sometimes to take out the competition, sometimes to add to their inventory, and they even avoided the Ollies seller. There will be a glut of these kits on eBay by tomorrow, if not sooner, from people who scooped up cases of these kits today. -
Ford Bronco Half Cab Sandman II
mikemodeler replied to martinfan5's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Nope, haven't even seen it advertised for pre-order. -
The lack of range and a re-charging power infrastructure will hamper widespread sales of EVs. It will take large investments and subsidies from government to move the needle on increasing the EV population. A recent article in Automotive News showed where 20% of EV owners in California traded their vehicles in on either a hybrid or gas powered vehicle because of the frustration over charging time or driving range. EVs will do well in urban areas or as a second vehicle, but will take some time before they are able to be used on long distance trips. The new F150 has a range of 300 miles and with a load its estimated to be 150 miles, can't see getting excited pulling a trailer if you can only go for 2 hours.

Ford Bronco Half Cab Sandman II

Looks like the wheel and tires are plastic molded together, so finding acceptable substitutes might be a bit of a challenge. -

Looks nice! Hopefully we will have it here on the shelves before too long. Are the Dune Buggy tires still plastic, same as the trailer? -
It's been a week since the last update, I am Jonesing for some new pictures and more detailed parts! C'mon Man, we need to see some more progress!

I was hoping to tune in today and see some more progress, sure hope there is some cool updates coming, this thing is a work of art! I could only hope to be able to machine or cast some of what has been displayed here.

I have been watching this build from the beginning, in total awe of the scratchbuilding and amount of details that are in this, can't wait to see what's next!

Congrats on the retirement, always had great service from you.

Resin or 3d printed 4x4 tires
mikemodeler replied to NOBLNG's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Danny at Scenes Unlimited has designed some new off road tires and they are very nice, much cleaner than the ones you posted. He is going to be shut down starting the end of next week for a month. https://scenesunltd.com/collections/tires -
Yep, some cool stuff for sure. I had avoided eBay for the longest time, knowing it could get addictive and it did! Hopefully I can stay away for a couple of weeks while I get busy with other stuff.

CKM Show in August, is it happening?
mikemodeler replied to mikemodeler's topic in Contests and Shows
Thanks Frank. Always enjoyed going to that show, will have to plan for next year! -
two flaws with this kit- wrong inner fenders and the chassis tends to be slanted preventing the bed from sitting level without shimming the back of it.

Those Revell Snapper kits are fun to build. They have some of the most accurate body dimensions and build up nicely with some detailing. Nice variety Joe, get busy and show them to us when you're finished!

The Carolina Kustom Modelers usually put on a show in August in Clemmonsville NC, anybody know if it's a go for this year? Haven't been able to find anything about it so far.

'68-72 Chevy PickUp rummors about reissue?
mikemodeler replied to Sergey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I had pre-ordered my Coke pickups before I found out they were molded in red. No worries, just a little extra work to prime them for a color other than red! -

I think the hurdle, as Casey mentions, has to do with the shipping issues plaguing everyone who is importing product from Asia. My employer is Japan based and many of our products come from Japan and what used to be a 21-28 day trip from there to here is now 60-80 days. It will get better, but it will be next year before it does. If someone REALLY wants a Bronco half cab, you can always buy the resin cab from Olson Bros. and convert an existing kit.
