  1. There are some that are similar in the AMT Police Van kit. I would have to dig out a kit to check. Might also check with Casey here on the forum, he casts a bunch of different wheels and may have those. If you do decide to offer them up, I would be interested in several sets of Chevy and GMC.
  2. The owner of HTUSA in Mooresville is supposedly bringing a HTUSA here to Charlotte this year, but if it's like his Mooresville store, it will be heavily concentrated on R/C. I'm just guessing but I would say the low margins, competing with the internet and HL are all big factors in why local hobby shops have disappeared here.
  3. While I lament the loss of the coupon to use on supplies, it has been encouraging to see them add stuff like Evergreen plastic and K&S tubing. Without a real hobby shop in the Charlotte area, it's been a struggle to get scratch building supplies without shopping online. As far as HL making money? Yeah, I kinda want them to do that so we don't lose our last local source of hobby stuff, and all of us should. Most of the hobby stores I knew that closed were because of a lack of ownership succession as the owner got to retirement age. Sure, some were mismanaged and closed because of their own doing, but many were unable to find a buyer for the business. Look at the Modelhaus- great product but who wants to work the long hours to make money?
  4. Very nice work on that conversion, the truck looks great!
  5. I'm holding out hope that someone will tool up new molds for the 67-72 series of GM trucks and give us some fresh, more accurate, kits to build. It would be a huge hit and if done right, there's literally over 100 possible configurations across the Chevy and GMC 2wd/4wd spectrum.
  6. I have your El Camino model kit, don't forget my Suburban kit we're trading!
  7. So who all is going? I will be there with some cash to spend and looking forward to seeing some model peeps, it's been 16 months since the last show!
  8. Stopped in at lunch time today, grabbed some paints that were marked down. I need to ask if they will be getting rid of the rack, would come in quite handy!
  9. There was a post on Facebook that VCG Resins is up for sale and not taking orders.
  10. Yeah, I saw that in a video on FB. Kinda bummed but will deal with it, I wonder why they felt the need to mold it in red? Are all of the Coke kits molded in red?
  11. Another outstanding build and incredibly well detailed. Yes, the blue is different but I remember seeing different color trucks all over in my travels. Can't wait to see what you spring on us next!
  12. Here's a couple that I am working on. The first gen Scout came from Robert Burns' Too Many Projects FB page. Uses the AMT Scout kit as a chassis and interior donor, hood molded shut. Clean and crisp. The second one is a custom half cab I need to finish.
  13. Waiting for my copy to show up in the mailbox. Sounds like it will be a good read and looking forward to it.
  14. Well said Joel and thanks for taking time to explain your products and the process taken to product them. I look forward to Saturday mornings now to see what you post as new and tomorrow will be no different!
  15. I bought two kits at $100 each when they announced they were closing. Waited a year for them and struggled to decide how to build them. I sold one to a fellow modeler for what I paid for it because he is a good model friend who I knew would build it. The other one is still sitting on the shelf, but I think I know what I will finally do with it. I am sure what we are seeing on eBay is the result of someone who loaded up and is now cashing in.
  16. I resisted the urge to buy on eBay but Iceman only sells there, so I finally caved in. I just placed my third order with him as the first two orders arrived in less than 4 days from placing the order, something almost unheard of in the model aftermarket world. In regards to his process and the finish on the parts, yes, some work may be required, but it's not like some resin blobs from some suppliers. The very nature of 3D printing will have some finish issues, but I have seen the same with injection molded plastic kits too. As was mentioned, Iceman brings us stuff not seen or likely to be seen so one must decide if they want his product or not. Minor clean up and polishing is not a big deal to me, but then I don't build contest winning models so maybe I am different from the rest of the crowd.
  17. I have a couple of these planned- one like yours and another as a stock Civil Defense unit. Nice job, great details!
  18. Got my Covid shot today, it was the J&J dose that is a one shot vaccine. 5 hours in and no problems, not even a sore arm. Some have said the second day is when it hits you, we'll see come tomorrow morning!
  19. Had my annual review with my boss today. Our fiscal year runs April - March so that explains why it was done in April. I knew that we had a challenging year and despite the hurdles our group did a remarkable job in achieving the sales total we did. Was not expecting much in the review and raise department as we did not get raises last year but imagine my surprise when I got a raise that is basically equal to what I got the first two years combined with this company! Yes, hard work does get recognized and rewarded. Now my model budget can get a raise too!
  20. I'll get some pictures up later today but I found an alternative source for some of these same parts- Iceman Collections. He sells exclusively on eBay so I was forced to finally make my way to it and I have to say, his product and service is top notch. He updates his store on Saturdays so be sure to check out his offering. He has a lot of stuff- figures, engines, diorama parts, even the welder like the one on the Bolide site. Buy with confidence and you won't be disappointed.
  21. That looks fantastic, saw the in progress pictures but the finished product is outstanding!
  22. That is very nice, love the color and the details make it pop.
  23. Probably depends on how fast they get the ships unloaded in Long Beach.
