It's been a week since the last update, I am Jonesing for some new pictures and more detailed parts! C'mon Man, we need to see some more progress!
-
I was hoping to tune in today and see some more progress, sure hope there is some cool updates coming, this thing is a work of art! I could only hope to be able to machine or cast some of what has been displayed here.
-
I have been watching this build from the beginning, in total awe of the scratchbuilding and amount of details that are in this, can't wait to see what's next!
-
Congrats on the retirement, always had great service from you.
-
I have built several of those snapper Vettes, great canvas and they detail nicely.

Resin or 3d printed 4x4 tires
mikemodeler replied to NOBLNG's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Danny at Scenes Unlimited has designed some new off road tires and they are very nice, much cleaner than the ones you posted. He is going to be shut down starting the end of next week for a month. https://scenesunltd.com/collections/tires -
Yep, some cool stuff for sure. I had avoided eBay for the longest time, knowing it could get addictive and it did! Hopefully I can stay away for a couple of weeks while I get busy with other stuff.

CKM Show in August, is it happening?
mikemodeler replied to mikemodeler's topic in Contests and Shows
Thanks Frank. Always enjoyed going to that show, will have to plan for next year! -
two flaws with this kit- wrong inner fenders and the chassis tends to be slanted preventing the bed from sitting level without shimming the back of it.
-
Those Revell Snapper kits are fun to build. They have some of the most accurate body dimensions and build up nicely with some detailing. Nice variety Joe, get busy and show them to us when you're finished!

The Carolina Kustom Modelers usually put on a show in August in Clemmonsville NC, anybody know if it's a go for this year? Haven't been able to find anything about it so far.

'68-72 Chevy PickUp rummors about reissue?
mikemodeler replied to Sergey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I had pre-ordered my Coke pickups before I found out they were molded in red. No worries, just a little extra work to prime them for a color other than red! -
Ford Bronco Half Cab Sandman II
mikemodeler replied to martinfan5's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I think the hurdle, as Casey mentions, has to do with the shipping issues plaguing everyone who is importing product from Asia. My employer is Japan based and many of our products come from Japan and what used to be a 21-28 day trip from there to here is now 60-80 days. It will get better, but it will be next year before it does. If someone REALLY wants a Bronco half cab, you can always buy the resin cab from Olson Bros. and convert an existing kit. -
That truck is my inspiration for a build I have planned. Moebius kit, MCRC resin tow bed, Fireball 4wd conversion kit, Scenes Unlimited wheels and tires, Scale Squads beacon light.
-
Modelroundup shows it for $44 for pre-order, might have saved you a few bucks going that route.
-
Hard to know if those release dates reflect the current shipping crisis affecting anything shipped from Asia. What took us 21-28 days from Japan/China/ Korea to US port is now taking 60-80 days.

'68-72 Chevy PickUp rummors about reissue?

Had I known the Coke version of this truck was going to be molded in red, I would have ordered the wedge kit instead as that isn't some horrendous color to cover with primer and paint. If Revell was to do a version, they are halfway home with the chassis. Some bodies and correct the flaws present in the existing kits and we could have fun. I am guessing they would use a long bed chassis to make a Suburban and if done correctly, many interchangeable pieces to make many variations. -
Looking at that sprue and based on my 35 plus years of parts knowledge, the Moebius plow looks to be a bit more modern than the one in the Revell kits. The Revell plow dates to the early -mid 70's and those rectangular plow lights are more mid 90's. In reality, that Revell plow is more appropriate for the 70's Ford pickups than the one shown, which appears to be of the quick hitch type found since the mid-90's. Should be interesting to see all the new stuff that is coming, hopefully sooner rather than later!

I'm too broke to pay attention!

There was talk several years ago about a Moebius ramp truck but things quieted down once they were bought by Pegasus. Glad to see the ramp truck coming and definitely looks like a more modern plow set up coming, be glad to buy a couple (dozen).

Surprised no one mentioned how the inner fenders on the pickups are all wrong but they got them right on the Blazer/Jimmy. -

One flaw in your theory about the 4wd Revell chassis donor John- The AMT kits are 1:25 and the Revell kits are 1:24, makes for some issues, unless you know different? To Casey's argument, the interior and chassis and their lack of detail really make the AMT/MPC kits toy like. Add in the metal axles and I'm reminded of my youth playing with Hot Wheels. -

Thanks Casey. I did the math and there is literally 100 or more possible variations of the 67-72 GM truck if you consider 2 & 4 wheel drive pickups, Blazer/Jimmy and Suburbans. Add in long bed/short bed, fleet side/step side and even cab chassis configurations. Us modelers would be gullible enough to buy whatever was put out there to build to our hearts desire. Add in some resin stuff like the dump box from Danny at Scenes Unlimited, the Holmes Wrecker bed from Motor City Resin and other stuff that pops up on eBay and there is no telling what could be built. There's another thread here with Moebius coming out with a ramp bed kit and also a different snow plow than the old MPC or Revell one! We have accepted the re-issued AMT & MPC kits because we haven't had any other choice. I have bought a bunch of the MPC Deserter kits to use as chassis donors because they are better than nothing but still need work. -
I'm definitely a buyer for that ramp bed and snow plow parts! That is cool we are getting stuff like that.
