Atlantis 1/16 Green Elephant Vega Funny Car
TonyK replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I like these rear tires. Good and solid. Noticed something funny in the instructions where some colors are listed for the parts and some aren't. Not that they are always correct but just strange why only partially listed. -
What did you screw-up today??

Tamiya spray paint has always been great for me in the past. I'm not the greatest painter but it makes me look like I am. Lately two different colors have gone on the body perfect as usual with a nice gloss. After it dries there's some semi-gloss areas. I tried spraying another coat on a hood and the exact same result happened. I'm not one to use clear on bodies but wondering if I should try that. Never had to before. Sorry, no pictures. -
Funny follow up on the tires in this kit. Emailed Revell of Germany and said I didn't like the warped soft 2 piece tires and I have managed to use their 2 piece tires in the past but these aren't working. Got a reply saying "Sorry, extra parts and decals are no longer available for this kit". First of all I wasn't expecting a replacement and 2nd, the kit just came out and you have nothing available?! Ok then. btw, I have lots of extra tires in boxes too but nothing matches the size of the van tires.

Atlantis 1/16 Green Elephant Vega Funny Car

No tire lettering and it's 1/16th scale so I don't have those decals readily available. Lettered tires would've been a huge bonus. -

Mine is on the way and I hope it's a nice kit. One of my favorite cars from the past. Just have to match that green paint. -

Very nice model! I don't believe these decals are available anywhere because I'd really like to build this car but last time I looked around I couldn't find any. -
Thanks for sharing your dog personality stories. Sounds a bit like one of our Westies with the running game. Also she stares at me when she needs to go out. Her brother goes to the door and moos like a cow.

My pharmacy decided they'd do Covid shots from 8-9 AM and not let you pick up prescriptions then. When I need to pick up my prescription I always go when they open which is 8 AM. Sign on the wall still says they open at 8 but THEY decided to change rules without telling anyone. Guy in front of me was pretty upset about it and said they could keep his pills and he'd go somewhere else. There's construction on the road there and back so had to wait some while flaggers stop us. Went back at 9 and dealt with flaggers stopping us again. Guess I learned the new rules the hard way.

Tamiya 1/20th scale 1979 Ligier JS11

That looks pretty darn nice! -
Good discussion on this brand of paint. I use a lot of Tamiya for brush painting and think it's great but still like other brands for variety. Haven't found a good resource for buying Vallejo yet so may look into other brands.

Our female Westie (her brother isn't interested) hunts for garter snakes every day. For several years she would be in double digits with kills. She grabs and shakes them which usually results in a horrible broken body. I'm not in favor of it and sometimes am able to save the snake if I'm working in the yard near her. Snakes are good I tell her but she is quite the hunter.

Went to Hobby Lobby today. First time in months. Same pitiful batch of models I've seen there in the last couple of years so nothing has changed there. Only a small rack of Testors paints which were mostly bottles and some odd colors of spray. The interesting thing I noticed was the sign on the door requiring all customers to wear masks which I did but I'd say half the customers weren't. There were only about 10 of us but why have a sign?

Really? Good for you but I wouldn't have stepped out of the car being it's a rattler. I like snakes but not venomous ones!

In the past I always use epoxy to glue 2-piece tires together and it works well. The problem with these tires is they are soft and warped so it's impossible to get them fitted together all around.

"Holy Grail" Models?
TonyK replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I believe it was the AMT 1966 Chevy Impala kit that was probably a 3 in 1. Had a picture of the stock car version on the front. Think I've seen 2 variations of this kit but want the certain one I got as a Christmas present when I was a kid. Probably not a great kit today but always wanted it to relive a childhood memory. -
I mostly build race cars so watching racing on tv can inspire me even though it's not older cars that I mostly have. Usually my next build just happens because I stand in front of the open closet hoping a model will jump out at me. I have seen someone's finished model on here that makes me grab one of mine and start building it.

Love the one with the "rod hockey". Sometimes commercials can be entertaining with a bit of wit/comedy/intelligence thrown in. I recall a comment about death. Guess that will cure whatever problem you had.

Liberty Mutual gets the mute button immediately. Annoying and stupid and NOT funny at all. Just don't get how they come up with more and more commercials that are that dumb. Agree with the drug commercials. I usually mute them and mostly don't even know what I'm supposed to be curing myself of. A constant barrage of these drug pushers which I'll never understand. I have a doctor to suggest what I should take, not a stupid tv commercial.

Ok, so who's watching the Indy 500???.....
TonyK replied to Deuces ll's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Yes, this was one of the most exciting races in the last few years. I would've been happy with any one of the top running drivers. They were all deserving of the win. -
Got this kit as I really wanted a van similar to a couple of friends I knew with the cool interior stuff. The tires are garbage. I spent about 15-20 minutes trying to test fit them together but they're so soft it's like trying to mate a couple of wet noodles. What a waste of effort for Revell to do tampo printing on tires that can't be used. Tried looking at some aftermarket tires I have to replace them but they're all a bit smaller and not sure they'll fill the wheel well right. Hope to find something but not sure.

That is a good looking cat. Happy for you and your cat to enjoy 18 years. Thanks for sharing the nice pictures.

Thanks for those B-17 pictures. On the subject of the birds....I've had Chickadees nest in a birdhouse and it's fun to watch the parents bring food to the baby birds and hear the peeping going on. Then suddenly they're gone. Didn't even see it happen but one day it's all quiet so I'm guessing when it's time for the babies to fly away then the whole process is done. So I'm sure your wreath/nest did it's job and everything will be ok. Don't get the neighbor infringing on your space though.

I hadn't thought of that!
