  1. I checked, the latest Cannonball records include a 110 MPH average and a 175 MPH top speed. To get to a 110 average, I'm thinking you'd have to plan for at least some extended cruising above 130-140. As for roll bars/cages, I'm not making any particular effort to hide or camouflage mine (or other racy interior guts). I don't think it's illegal to have a roll cage on the street. I have, however, cut away most of the side bars on the '65 Chevelle dirt tracker roll cage in the interest of entry/exit though a normal door (i.e., not climbing in/out through the window).
  2. I have an unbuilt one I bought sometime in the late '80s, don't remember exactly when. Dunno why it hasn't been reissued. Did it get reworked as the oft-reissued '72?
  3. What they said. Improvise, adapt, overcome!
  4. Here's a clearer image. '40 Ford truck and '67 Mustang are clear in this one. Seems to be a Ford promotional piece, or at least done by a huge Ford fan.
  5. Thanks for the kind words!
  6. You can still get it in metal, if you want one: https://www.diecastmodelswholesale.com/products.php?product=1951-Jaguar-XK-120-Roadster-Burgundy-1{47}24-Diecast-Model-Car-by-Bburago&showHidden=true
  7. Yes, it certainly could be. Let us know if you find one. I doubt this thing will have even 100 pages.
  8. Doesn't look like it would be too hard to mix up, if you had to. Also looks close to Model Master Chrysler Engine Blue, but of course that's gone bye-bye too.
  9. Very clean! Model on!
  10. Thanks! I might have to order two or three sets of those.
  11. I didn't have to do too much to that one--clean it up and trim the windows and detail the wheel covers. It was an amazing ebay find. Thanks for the kind words!
  12. What a beautiful, clean build! Model on!
  13. In 2020 I completed 40 model car projects---3 all-new builds from kits, 1 complete rebuild from a glue bomb, 18 glue bomb restoration/rescues, and 18 diecast Snake-Fu's. Among my favorites of the year are five original AMT '66 Mustang fastbacks--four old-build survivors and one new-build of the reissued AWB funny car kit. Three of the survivors I bought off eBay; the fourth is my own, and one of the first half dozen or so model car kits I built back in 1966. I still have a '65 Mustang fastback promo to restore/rescue, but otherwise, I think I've pretty much scratched that itch. At least for a while. Thanks for looking, and as always, comments welcome.
  14. Preach! I've been trying to find some decent suitable seats for my builds. Something will turn up sooner or later....
  15. '69 Torino/Fairlane/Cobra HT/Conv should be easy. '67 Mustang coupe would also require a new interior. '65-'66 Mustang fastback is VERY interesting. The AWB funny car body isn't so far gone that it couldn't be brought back. The glass still exists. Dunno about the interior tub, but if it's gone, that would have to be created. Everything else could come from the '66 HT kit (for a '66 only, of course). Maybe they think it's not worth the effort because of the VERY common, oft-reissued Monogram/Revell '65-'66 fastback kits?
  16. Apparently you haven't bought anything from eBay for a while. I JUST got something I bought on Nov 27, and am still waiting on something I bought on Dec 2. The mail and maybe even other carriers are WAY backed up right now, between coronavirus and the holidays.
  17. That would make a great body for the current Cannonball Ruse group build (full race cars hiding under stock-looking bodies). Hmmmmmmm
  18. HL has the Testor Bronze again? Cool! Mine hasn't had it for a year, hasn't even had a slot in the rack for it. I'll have to check it out, as I need some.
  19. Mega Hobby and Sprue Brothers are two more good ones.
  20. FABULOUS idea! Drive on!
  21. I can't think of a bigger yawn-mobile, except maybe a silver Honda Civic.
  22. Book says it retailed the stock 13" front wheels (note the 4 lugs), with 15" on the rear.
  23. Last year at the local toy show, I bought this unfinished '66 Nova Pro Street project. The paint didn't look horrible and it seemed like it would be an easy rescue/completion. When I got it home and gave it a good look, I was sadly disappointed. Although the paint is even and shiny, it's got a LOT of orange peel. There's no rear suspension or rear axle in the box. No wheels or tires. There's no engine at all. The headlights are missing. The windshield is cracked. The front suspension is assembled to the chassis, but one of the front spindles is missing. Back in the box it went, and back into the depths of the Snakepit, and I promptly forgot about the wretched thing. Fast-forward to a couple months ago. I was re-watching all the episodes of Memphis Street Outlaws on Discovery on demand, and grew very fond of the two '66-'67 Novas on there, Heifer and Zip Tie. Then they started young Molly Gully out with a fast, cool-looking purple '65 Nova (Ugly Duck). Wheels began to turn in my head. Maybe I could dig this thing out and Snake-slap it into a passable street outlaw-ish beast of some kind. Tore up the Snakepit looking for it for two days with no joy. Gave up and moved on. About three days ago I just happened to look around and found the stupid thing about two feet from my favorite TV chair. DOH! So it's game on. Here's what I have to work with, (I also have the chrome sprue with all the body trim on it) and "the rules" are I can't use any "good" parts from my stash that would interfere later on with a "good" build. I can make a front spindle, and pretty sure I can make a windshield. I can take the rear axle, springs, and traction bars from an AMT '72 "Old Pro" Nova, which I've bought several of just for parts. I can take the headlight lenses from there, too. No problem coming up with a Big Block Chevy engine, if one will fit in without too much trouble. I'll see if the paint can be polished a little; if not, maybe a couple coats of clear will fill in the orange peel pits enough to be polished out. The parts box should cough up some suitable wheels and tires. I guess we'll see what happens. Comments and suggestions/ideas welcome. As JJ Da Boss would say, "Come and get it!"
