I got all the Silver Sharpie trim work done on a '67 Impala and a '65 Chevelle, and painted the hood of a glue bomb '69 El Camino I'm trying to rescue.

Great phantom/what-if project! Fabulous engine work. Special shout-out for using black plug wires, and routing them correctly AROUND, not over, the valve covers. Drive on!

You just reminded me--last year at the toy show I bought a Mustang promo of about this vintage that I need to find and Snake-Fu. I don't even remember what color it is--I know I saw a yellow one but I think maybe I bought a blue one. Would be a good winter project.

The '67 molds probably became the bogus "for 1968." I don't know if AMT then made them into the '69 annual (and promos), but if they did, they did a MUCH better job of it than MPC did. The AMT '69 is different enough that it might well be all-new tooling, and probably is. The '69 annual DID become the aforementioned funny car, though. Be interesting to know if the original '69 interior, chassis, etc. molds are still around. The body COULD be brought back to stock, if Round 2 really wanted to. Not a whole lot of incentive to do so, however, with the excellent Revell kits readily available.

Cutting enamel with lacquer thinner speeds up the drying time to 24-48 hours.

I'm a big fan of Testor/Model Master enamels thinned with lacquer thinner. But I'm sure you'll get at least a dozen other opinions.

I believe the recently reissued AMT '32 Ford sedan delivery (ex-MPC Switcher) has a pretty decent set.

Worked on a second '67 Impala promo I'm restoring, as well as a '65 Chevelle promo. It's possible I could get one or both of them finished tomorrow.

So were a bunch of glue bombs and survivors I've bought off eBay and at the local toy show. But, as J. Neilson of Forged in Fire says, "We're gonna do it anyway."

Yes, I build with disassembly in mind and always have. This has allowed me to blow apart 10 (so far) of my teenage '60s builds and thoroughly clean and repair/restore/rebuild/upgrade them as necessary. And I have another dozen or so to do someday.

VERY sweet! You've captured the spirit of the day better than many American builders. One slight gig: Your car would be B/G, not B/GS. The S means supercharged, which your engine isn't. Otherwise, spot-on!

Had couple productive days. Yesterday I finished off the '67 Impala promo that's been on my workbench for the better part of two months. Today I finished up about 6 hours of Snake-Fu (spread over 3 days) of a Monogram '65 Covette glue bomb I just got last Sunday. Yesterday I also polished out (or tried to) the paint on a glue bomb '69 El Camino I'm trying to rescue. If this isn't my next completion, it'll be in the next three or four.

Will be interesting to see if they've done any more corrections to the body. I just got an original which has the good headlights and taillights, but its body is a little messed up and will require a lot of careful work to fix. Would be nice if the new-issue body is acceptable.

If you've noticed over the years, every time the price of gas rises significantly, Testor raises the price of their paints. The gas eventually goes back down, but Testor prices never do.

This is a drag car, there's nothing stock about it, and that includes the dash.

First thing it reminded me of was the Mako Shark I. If they'd knock all the tacky gingerbread off it, it would be a darn sharp looking little car. Better than that Pontiac/Saturn thing of a decade or so ago.

We're getting a bit afield here. The thread is about TV cars, not movie cars, and "star cars," which I take to mean cars that were featured prominently, not just stuff that happened to be in the show (or movie).
