  1. Very cool! I have one of these in the same color and I like it a lot. I did about an hour's worth of Snake-Fu tweaks on it but will be interested in your work to see if there's anything else I should or can do. Drive on!
  2. Have you tried household ammonia?
  3. Very, VERY nice! I still find it hard to believe that there's no readily available, affordable DB5 available in either plastic or diecast.
  4. Very cool! I'm not much into antiques/classics but Cords are cool. Quick question: Was the Cord the last American car to have hidden headlights until the '63 Corvette? Come to think of it, was it the first American car with hidden headlights? The only one?
  5. I see it. Looks great!
  6. And also the BM Camaro only comes with the non-factory L88 hood.
  7. HAHAHAHAHAHA! They could do a line of German napkin-doodle airplanes and call it Cokewaffe '46.
  8. Great story and an even better model! I don't think I've ever seen a set of decals go for a better cause. VERY well done and model on!
  9. I've discovered that your cars always know when your tax refund check has just arrived, or is just about to. Every time. They want their cut of it.

    1960 Falcon

Very nice, very clean! Looks like it could have been a cover car on the old '90s magazine Custom Rodder.
  11. Hmmmmm. Landy's '68 Coronets (and Charger and Dart) began his iconic red/blue/silver paint jobs. But that's an interesting idea. Interestingly, in 1968 I started building one of the MPC kits in 1968 as Landy's. But the candy red part of the paint job didn't turn out, and it got destroyed in our December 1968 basement fire.
  12. If you HAD a '68 Coronet model, what color would you paint it? I have the Modelhaus resin repop. Would like to paint it in some "iconic" factory color, but nothing on the '68 color chart really spins my windmill. I suppose Bronze is my favorite, with medium green and dark turquoise coming in after that. Someone, inspire me!
  13. Email me: SnakeACP45 at AOL dot com.
  14. They called me about mine today. Needs ignition module. $1150 for a new one, $750 for used, guaranteed one year. I told them go for the used one. Just last month it need a $837 radiator. Sigh.
  15. I just bought a resin body off eBay dated 1994. No warpage or other deterioration at all. Looks like it was poured yesterday.
  16. Oh, no, they wouldn't have been worth the shipping. Paid $5 for the pair of them at the local toy show last month.
  17. Neither did any of us, once. Time to jump in.
  18. Okay, here's some of the glooiest, bombiest stuff I've ever dragged home. '68 Plymouth cop car. I have virtually no interest in this, but I know there are people looking for one. All the important stuff seems to be here and savable with a little work. I could prolly strip it and put it on eBay and turn a sweet profit from it. I think this is a '78 Dodge Force 440? I think it could be finished off with parts from a common Joker Goon Car, except the rear bumper, and the vendor might have that. Might be fun to build into something, but I could be talked out of it if it's somebody's Holy Grail. BTW, I only paid $5 for BOTH the Plymouth and the Dodge. The sad remains of an original '66 Impala. Vendor gave it to me for being a good customer, and only reason I dragged it home is that I have a nice '65 Impala body with a ruin roof, and there MIGHT be enough of the roof left on this one to graft onto it. Haven't broken it down yet but there might also be some usable original interior parts in there, too, who knows? The price was right.
  19. Couple more recent acquisitions: '69 El Camino from eBay. Missing glass, firewall, and all interior pieces except the tub itself, but all the vital stuff is here: Body (excellent condition), chassis, interior tub, bed extension, rear bumper and taillights. Anything else needed (except backlight) can be sourced from a common '60 Chevelle kit. Paint is actually nice enough to be used for a "late '70s daily driver/high school hot rod" build, except the hood and bed extension have been painted some kind of silver. I bought it to strip and rebuild in LeMans Blue, but I'm thinking of doing a quick resto of it as a survivor till I get around to it. If Model Master Nassau Blue isn't a good enough match to the paint, I'll just paint the hood semigloss black as a replacement part. Could be a quick, fun rescue project. And two shall become one: Bought this '69 Maverick promo body about a month ago, complete body, glass, and trim except missing rear bumper. While searching eBay for a bumper, I came across this VERY distressed dark blue one (it looks like maybe a heavy book or something of the kind fell on it) for not much more than bumpers alone were going for, and it gave me the a chassis, stock wheels and tires, and a front bumper/grille with better chrome than I was starting with. Sold! The body turns out to have a tiny hole drilled in each front fender right ahead of the Maverick emblem--slot car mounting, perhaps? Oh well, I can live with it to have a nice polished plastic Original Cinnamon Maverick on the shelf. This one is rising to near the top of the Snakepit To-Do list.
  20. That would be another thread completely; the exact opposite of the topic being discussed here. Only unkitted star car I can think of offhand would be the Vista Cruiser from That '70s Show. And while they're at it, wasn't there a '67 El Camino featured prominently on that show, too? Just thought of another one: '69 Camaro RS convertible in Rally Green from Bewitched. A diecast has been done but should be an easy reissue for Revell.
  21. I had the same impression.
  22. Thanks so much for all the input, gang. Exactly what I needed to know!
  23. I've been having it too for a few days. The site will refuse to load for a few minutes, but wait a little while and it's fine again.
  24. Maybe they could include a special spoon, too.
