  1. Good news, bad news. Just got back from Walmart. The 2020 calendars are out now. The bad news is that they only had the Musclecars one, no Corvette, no Camaro, no Mustang. Even worse, the whole rack is clearly and semi-permanently labeled with what calendar goes where, and none of the other slots were labeled for other cars. Maybe the display will change in a few weeks or near the end of the year, who knows. But I've seen car calendars other places, including at Ollie's and dollar stores. So keep your eyes open in your travels and grab any that look good wherever you find 'em.
  2. Well, except for my polished turd Majorette toy sitting next to your fine Franklin Mint.
  3. Bet you thought I was gonna post Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London." Nope. His "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner" is much spookier. I'm talkin' about the man!
  4. You forgot to mention that all the chrome and emblems are off the body, and the stock rear panel is replaced by an interesting (molded in) grid or mesh pattern that I think would look great for a mid-'60s custom. In fact I managed to acquire a bare body shell from this kit some years ago and I've been planning ever since to build a custom out of it.
  5. You're in! And you're Number 8, which means I jump in ROUND 5 IS OFFICIALLY ON! ROUND 5: FINISH DATE DECEMBER 31, 2019 Straightliner59: SS/GT Firebird #1 Model Citizen: '49 Ford Tudor Dave Branson: RMR Resin Van Misha: ‘49 Ford Tom Geiger: Trabant 600 Panel Wagon Prostreeter69: Pro Street Bronco Bobthehobbyguy: Ghost Rider Corvette Modlbldr: '64 Tbolt Snake45: '66 Chevelle Okay gang, GITTER DONE!
  6. I don't think they've ever altered the body--all the various issues I have have identical bodies--but it's been a long time since they issued it in stock form (i.e., not a Shelby of one sort or another).
  7. Just got home from mine. Only cars they had were the '67 4-4-2 (I bought one just for parts to build my MCW resin '65 4-4-2) and I think some kind of '37 Ford convertible. Several ships, F-100 and TBF airplanes, and I think some skeleton feet or something. Maybe they'll have more/better later.
  8. HAHAHAHAHA! I hereby award you Freudian Typo of the Week!
  9. Here's what it looks like. https://www.modelcars.com/revell-lowrider-magazine-1965-chevy-impala-ss-convertible
  10. Absolutely fabulous illustration of "Then and Now" modeling!
  11. Or you could always call it a "street outlaws/no prep" kinda thing.
  12. Just bought a Revell 1/25 '65 Impala convertible diecast lowrider on the bay. Cheap. Not a fan of lowriders but I saw one of these at the local toy show a couple months ago and really liked the paint job, a beautiful emerald green with lime green stripes. I didn't pull the trigger on it at $15 and wished later I had; the guy didn't have it the next month. This one's gonna cost me a little more that $15 with shipping, but not a lot, and I can do something with it.
  13. I think there's something wrong with this paint. Notice how it's done exactly the same thing on the metal can. It almost looks like one of those "hammertone" or textured paints they sell. If you want this color, try a can of Duplicolor Hampstead Green at any auto parts store. Shouldn't run more that about $8.
  14. Fabulous! You might actually be the FIRST one this round to GITTER DONE! Drive on!
  15. I never did see one on any shop shelf anywhere, but finally managed to trade my way into one. Lately I've been buying rebuildable original AMTs--I have two promos and a full kit, and maybe enough stuff to get a Modified Stocker on the street.
  16. Two AMT '69 Chevelles. I built the one with the black top in 1969, took it apart and cleaned it and repaired as necessary but didn't rebuild anything a couple years ago. The one with the white stripe I started in the early '90s and finally finished around 2014.
  17. Added you to the registry list above, Bob. That makes 7. Just one more and then I'll tell you what I'm in with.
  18. I believe that "congresscritter" is the same one who got elected by lying about being a Vietnam veteran a few years ago. He has NOTHING to say to me on any subject, and needs to slink off in shame. It was only a couple years ago that a P-51 racer crashed into the crowd at Reno and killed more people than died in this B-17. That didn't stop the racing. I doubt this tragic incident will end Warbird flying, but there might be forthcoming regulations, especially as regards rides. Remember, they don't shut down air travel because an airliner crashes killing dozens or hundreds. We'll see what happens.
  19. I have a horrible feeling you just gave me a "Preview of Coming Attractions" of my own weekend.
  20. Very cool, will add you as soon as the pics appear.
  21. No problem, I'll add you. Remember gang, you can only extend ONCE. We're not interested in having projects on this list for YEARS, that's the problem with them now. If you don't GITTER DONE in six months, it's officially a dead project again and it has to sit out at least one round before it's eligible again.
  22. Okay, here the Officially Declared list as of now, and a couple others have expressed interest but not declared a project yet: Round 5: Deadline December 31, 2019 Straightliner59: SS/GT Firebird #1 Model Citizen: '49 Ford Tudor Dave Branson: RMR Resin Van Misha: ‘49 Ford Tom Geiger: Trabant 600 Panel Wagon Prostreeter69: Pro Street Bronco Bobthehobbyguy: Ghost Rider Corvette We just need one more! Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?
  23. Now, see, I kinda dig those tires on that car, historically correct or not. A while back I bought two Heller 1/24 Alfa Romeo Zagatos--one to build stock and one to build as a modern street rod. Owning this Bugatti 55 is kinda putting me in the mood to dig out and build that stock Zagato. And then display it with my diecast Bugatti and Jag, and the Tamiya Lotus 7 I built 20 years ago. And then go looking for a 1/24 MG/TD.
  24. At the very least, I'd expect insurance rates to go up, which means the ride prices will go up (if they're not banned outright). And those rides aren't cheap now. And they help pay major portions of the expenses of touring these beautiful, amazing airplanes around to fill us with wonder. Without that income stream, the tours might not be economically feasible at all.
  25. That's looking really good! Drive on!
