1/25 Revell '29 Model A Roadster 2'n'1

Well, that will give them plenty of time to damage the molds again. Or maybe even lose them completely this time. -
1/25 Revell '29 Model A Roadster 2'n'1
Snake45 replied to mrknowetall's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I stocked up on the roadsters back when, but have not yet seen the coupe kit to this day. When will we see the coupe again? -
Will one of them be The Bridges at Toko-Ri?

Now in those, it DOES look like Panther Pink! This car is still around. One of the musclecar mags had a writeup on it a couple years ago.

I bought several of the Peerless Dodge Weapons Carriers when Squadron Shop closed them out many years ago. About 25 years ago, I swapped one of them straight-up to a military modeler for a mint, unbuilt, NIB Sonny & Cher Mustang kit. We both thought we got the better end of the deal. I still have it, and no, it's not available for sale or trade, so don't even ask.

Me too! Looks like another great model from you! A few years ago I did the 1969 PMOY car, which was a Shelby Mustang. I need to clean that thing up and post pics of it.

Ontario Orange was not available in 1970, though it was in 1971 and 1972. Corvette Bronze was available in 1970 and 1971. This is very similar but not identical to '68 Corvette Bronze, which looks to me just a hair darker. The model is sold as a 1970 in Corvette Bronze. In real life, it's a little more brown and a little less orange than it looks in my pictures. I suppose one could call it a '71 in Ontario Orange if that's what you wanted on your shelf, but I'm quite happy with it being a '70 in Corvette Bronze. BTW, Diecastwarehouse shows these available again in red (they don't show the Bronze one). Thanks for your kind words.

I’d never heard of this one until I ran across this example last month at the local toy show. $15, brand new in original box, good deal! I fell in love with the Corvette Bronze color instantly, and the paint is quite nice overall. No T-tops are included, just the open framing. I gave the thing my standard Level 1 Snake-Fu: sanded tire treads, hit the parking light stems with white to hide them, blackwashed the grille, and detailed the all-chrome Rally Wheels with black and Testor Steel. When finished, I decided the silver T-top framing looked too big and too simple. I google-imaged pics of this area on real cars and decided it would look better with the edges and other “weatherstripping” areas in semigloss black, so I spent about an hour doing that. This was time well spent; this area now looks quite a bit better. I’m very pleased with the finished result, especially considering the minimal cost and time expended. It even displays well next to the much more expensive Mint ’69 Corvette. I like it a lot. Thanks for looking, and as always, comments welcome.

Tuesday morning pick-me-up: Rock's not dead...but it will be
Snake45 replied to iamsuperdan's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Try looking on the "modern country" format radio stations. There's a pretty decent percentage of listenable music there. BTW, I find that the two biggest influences on modern country music are...wait for it...Jimmy Buffet and Tom Petty. About 25-30% of everything you hear there could be Jimmy Buffet or Tom Petty songs. -
Red if you have a red interior. Otherwise, black.

Maybe more like mid-'70s. I think when I got out of high school in '72, it was still 15c, with the "big" Pactra bottles being 39 cents.

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I feel your pain, my friend. Have made little actual progress on any of the 3 Vettes, have done NOTHING on the '57 Chevy (meet you next round, Tom?). Am now working feverishly to try to drag the '69 Camaro across the finish line. I just now finished off a little task that I've been putting off for over a year involving the headlights. It's not gonna end up the way I wanted it when I started it, but I'm hoping to have it DONE enough to declare it so by the deadline. DRIVE ON, EVERYONE! GITTER DONE! -
I had the same thought. JoHan Maverick/Comet pro stock, maybe?

There were 2 types of taillights, standard and Rally Sport. The RS package had the separate backup lights in the rear valence. Those taillights were not available separately from the rest of the RS package which included the hideaway headlights. The Revell body is molded with the wheel opening chrome trim. This was only available with Style Trim Group (which was included with the RS package). STG also included the chrome trim on the fake vents in the rear fenders. The Revell body does not include this trim. So you have to either remove the wheel opening trim or add the fake vent trim--they went together.

Sweet! I'd love to run across this kit. Well done and model on!

Thanks for the kind words. It would be a certain amount of work, and the part doesn't fit all that well anyway. Truth to tell, I'd rather put my efforts into something else at this point.

Keep your voice down, or Siri will be sending you a bottle of Super Clean.

In about 20 years, you can probably buy one on eBay for $20.

I'd rather see R2 spend their efforts and money on other projects. This old kit has nothing to recommend it over the commonly available Revell '67 coupe, nothing at all, except just nostalgia. The last reissue of this I built, the door lines were so eroded they were almost nonexistent--rescribing them all was absolutely mandatory. Oh wait, I guess if you wanted to build a Vette with a one-piece flip-up body like a funny car or altered, this would be a good starting point.

I've seen a few guys do the black window sealing on the vent windows, and IMHO that REALLY adds a lot to a model. I've even tried it myself a time or two. Some kits are easier to do this with than others.
