  1. That's a good price for the full-boogie kit. It's worth that just for spare parts.
  2. The regular kit, or the snapper? That sounds more like a snapper price.
  3. Beautiful work! Fred Cady decals? This is just about the only '63 Impala model I ever want to build. Nice to see it can be done so well.
  4. By DM do you mean Danbury Mint? Is it 1/24? I haven't seen this one before, thanks for showing it. Looks like it might have the same C-pillar issues as the Welly (and the Polar Lights kit). Which means it could be fixed. BTW Geno, I posted May's Calendar Display down in that thread.
  5. Original AMT '65 Impala? I have its cousin, with the radical custom front end parts installed. Wouldn't the pair look cool restored and displayed together?
  6. My latest Glue Bomb Junkyard purchase from eBay. Total price for the three, including shipping, was less than full retail on two current, common reissues. First up, '64 Chevelle wagon. Seems complete, no permanent damage, should paint strip nicely. Even the rare 6-cyl engine is present and looks usable. Next, original '65 Mustang HT/Convertible, with the optional vinyl hardtop installed. Again, seems to be complete, strippable, and very restorable. Finally, an AMT annual '65 Vette roadster, amazingly with the windshield frame intact and the windshield re-usable. Hold your calls please; another board member has already sweet-talked me out of this one. I'll hate to see it go but he's a good guy who's done me a couple favors and I owe him some good karma. (I'm keeping the nonstock wheels and tires, though.)
  7. There's a place in town here that has an even worse reputation than Citi. I was at Citi for 5 1/2 years and for at least the first four of them it wasn't bad at all, I really enjoyed the work and the people and the whole atmosphere of the place. Things started getting worse at the beginning of 2017 and from then on it just got worse and worse all the time and I wasn't sorry at all to get let go in the third quarter of 2018.
  8. Mine came molded in red, and I built it fenderless. I didn't notice that the fenders included a molded-in frame. Come to think of it, I'm not 100% sure it even came with fenders.
  9. I could tell you stories about that place that would curl your hair, if you have any. It's like the entire management of the joint is trying to see if they can get themselves memorialized in Dilbert. We used to say the corporate motto was, "You're an important, valued member of the Citi family. Until you're not."
  10. Finished? I haven't even bought the kit yet. Though I DID buy and enjoy that Don Nicholson book I mentioned in my last post.
  11. Those aren't Revells, those are the ex-MPCs.
  12. My new Bose QuietComfort 25 headphones, bought to replace my beloved old QC15s, which just broke, have nowhere NEAR as good a tone. They sound tinny. They sound like $15 headphones, not like $300 headphones, although I must say the noise-cancelling feature works at least as well as the old ones, maybe even a bit better. But I'm disappointed with their sound.
  13. Wow, very cool! So rare I've never even HEARD of these models or the company that made them. Amazing!
  14. That's a PALMER??! Must have been one of their very best, and I like what you've done with it. Well done and model on!
  15. Next deadline is the end of June, so you've still got nearly 2 full months. I've added your name and project for the next posted update. Welcome aboard! GITTER DONE!
  16. Nice work! I went just the other way with the one that's currently languishing on the Shelf of Doom.
  17. One of my alltime favorites. I have one of these on the Shelf of Doom, and when I bring it back from the dead (hopefully, soon), that's exactly how I'm gonna paint it.
  18. My very first headphones were Koss K6-LCs, bought at the BX at Lackland AFB in 1973, for about $30, which was a pretty good discount, and which would equal about $182 today. They didn't sound as good as the Bose, they didn't have noise cancelling, and they didn't last anywhere near ten years (wires kept breaking), so the Bose upgrade at $135 seems like a bargain.
  19. My 10-YO Bose noise cancelling headphones died this week (the metal headband broke, they still worked perfectly acoustically) so I stopped by the Bose store on the way home. They couldn't fix them (or so they claimed), but let me "upgrade" them for a brand new, improved model for $135. Not a bad deal, I guess. I wear them all day at work, and while mowing the lawn, so I DO get the use out of the things.
  20. The lesson was that different people have different opinions, and this one just happened to be in a position where she could hurt you with hers. NOT that her opinion was necessarily better than yours. ALWAYS build to please yourself, not others. If others like it, that's fine, but that's not your priority (unless they're paying you).
  21. So, a phantom Factory Experimental hardtop, then? Interesting and cool idea! So you'll be removing the rest of the window frames around the perimeter, then? Go for it!
  22. I was rereading an old model car mag the other day that had an article by Barris. To my shock and amazement, he was giving credit for the design of one of "his" cars to someone else--and it wasn't one that I heard this about before. Unfortunately I can't recall at the moment which car or which other designer were mentioned, dernit.
  23. I routinely paint paint molded-white interiors with Krylon Matte Clear if I'm going for a white interior. What looks more like white plastic than white plastic?
