  1. Very cool project! I recently picked up a glue bomb Falcon AWB and have been considering moving it to the front of the To-Do list, so I'll be watching. Good luck and drive on!
  2. Looking good! These are getting semi-rare and you don't see that many new builds of them anymore. You're doing great and I like what you've done with the wheels. Good luck and drive on!
  3. Very interesting and useful! I might be about to start on a project that could use some of this rear fabrication stuff.
  4. Fabulous! Can you print me one, too? Is a hardtop or 2DS available?
  5. Been trying to work on an AMT '55 Chevy 2DS and the whole front end is just a mess. Have a couple whole evenings trying to fix it and I've got it looking better, but only about half as good as it should be, and I don't think I can do more. Thinking of buying a Revell '55 Chev hardtop or convertible kit and swapping on the front clip from that. It almost HAS to be more accurate. Anyone ever done this, or tried it, or thought about it? I don't have the Revell kit and have no interest in it except for this sheetmetal swap. Could someone who has both kits eyeball the bodies and see if it looks like it's do-able? For example, are they the same width? Do the hoods come anywhere near swapping?
  6. Glad you found a good and suitable choice for your 1967 build. Good luck and drive on!
  7. This thead got me thinking, what should I count as a "built model"? Many of my diecast Snake-Fu jobs probably shouldn't be counted. Most don't have more than 2-3 hours in them and I didn't change anything fundamental, just did some minor detailing. But I've built the Revell '55 Chevy, '68 Charger, and '68 Mustang diecasts from kits, and had a fair amount of time and effort in so doing. I'm thinking they should count as "built models." I had a fair amount of time and effort in correcting the diecast '65 GTO I did, and am currently putting a fair amount of work into a diecast '67 Chevelle, including adding a complete new interior. Thinking maybe those should be counted as "builders," too. Thoughts, ideas, opinions? (It's a slow night....)
  8. Good idea! I've shined up glue bomb "rescues" that didn't look anywhere near as good as yours with Wright's Silver Cream. I'd try that on the Buick and the Cobra before I worried about repainting them.
  9. Okay, I'll bite: What does it do, or is supposed to do? And why is the sad little girl's arm sore (apparently)?
  10. This might be one of the very rare cases where I might think Future/Pledge could be the best and least risky solution. At least if it didn't come out to my liking, I could just take it right back off with common household ammonia.
  11. Funny you should ask. I have no idea lifetime, as many of my childhood models are long gone. Just today I came across in the computer a forgotten file I did about five years ago called Built Models. I seem to recall when I did that list, I had about 100 airplanes and 100 cars on it. I've done quite a few cars since then (and at least four airplanes). I completed 42 model car projects last year (2018), but 18 of them were diecast pimpouts which I wouldn't count as "built models" for such a list, and at least one of the models I would count was a restoration of one I built as a kid so I wouldn't count that one again either. I'd have to guess that I'm somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 built cars, plus or minus 20. If I can come up with a more accurate count, I'll let you know. I do still have somewhere around two dozen of the model cars I built as a teenager between 1966 and 1970.
  12. Well I used to be disgusted, Now I try to be amused.... --Elvis Costello, "Angels Want to Wear My Red Shoes," My Aim Is True 1978
  13. And that didn't affect the underlying paint? Wow, I'd-a never thunk it!
  14. I LIKE this, and even have a somewhat similar project in mind. Good luck and drive on!
  15. Is Plastruct made of styrene now? I used some long ago and it wasn't. MEK glues wouldn't bond it, had to be something MC based. This is why I switched to Evergreen long ago.
  16. How irksome! It's like RAY-EE-AIN, on your wedding day.....
  17. I wonder if a '70-'74 Challenger body would be good for those rear quarters? Yeah, I think if one really wanted a model of this bad enough, it would be do-able....
  18. Very, VERY nice! I think I have an AMT of about the same vintage somewhere in the Snakepit, and you're makin' me want to dig it out and build it--my highest compliment! Well done and model on!
  19. I've never seen/heard of the Milano before, but it looks like you could build it out of a '69 Shelby kit. Lotta work of course, but looks like the Shelby would be a good starting point.
  20. Just since you asked.... You know I'm generally a fan of your work, but this doesn't spin my windmill. Sorry.
  21. That's one good way to do it. These days, I usually take scratches out of glass in minutes with Trim fingernail sticks, but the right kind are getting hard to find. (They're also sometimes not usable on the inside, due to concavity.) I've also used Wright's Silver Cream polish to do the same thing. I don't use Pledge/Future, though. Not necessary if you've polished right, and causes more problems than it solves.
  22. AMT '72 Nova, a dirt-common kit that was just reissued. If you don't have one, I'll send you one--sure I have a spare.
  23. I should have mentioned that I used cheap kitchen foil, which is thicker than the BMF Steve uses and will stand up to more polishing. One more trick: Larger emblems, such as the crossed flags front and rear on that '68 Corvette I showed above, can have their foil covered with a small drop of Elmer's glue before priming and painting. Just leave this in place until polishing is complete, then pop it right off. It might actually come off on its own during the polishing process, especially near the end.
  24. It came out great! I have an orange one rapidly rising in the To-Do Pile for a winter project. Well done and model on!
  25. Beautiful work! I like the colors on both. What are the paints? Well done and model on!
