That's an original AMT annual kit? Not the Revell from the late '80s or early '90s?
-
Kinda reminds me of some of the funny car bodies of the day. Interesting!
-
Found it in less than 10 seconds. Actually didn't count, it might have been less than five.

Very nice, very clean. Great foilwork. Well done and drive on!

Progress report: Body touched up, mostly (I see I missed a couple spots, no big deal). Windshield frame glued and Fauberglassed. Windshield de-glued, polished, and reinstalled. Chrome trim (Silver Sharpie) started. Rolling stock done: Wheel centers painted flat aluminum. Rims trimmed of flash and sprue stubs, then "chromed" with Rub N Buff. Original slicks tread sanded. Front tires (a pair of lovely 1968-era MPC wide Goodyears, that will find a loving home on another project) replaced with hollow AMT Firestone Supreme skinnies. BTW, this is all I got of the original engine--block, heads, headers, tranny. Will figger out what to do about that later. Might be able to use if I can find a small-block tunnel ram manifold (the only justification for that tall reverse hood scoop). Attitude check: How's the "sit" look? The front wheels are in their lower mounting holes, so I can easily jack the front end. That would probably mean jacking the rear end (I don't want the nose higher than level) with either taller slicks, or a little spacer between body and frame (there's room to get away with this). I'm going for a late '60s/early '70s Modified Production look and hope to turn up another set of suitable decals, but unmarked, it could pass for a Street Goon. whaddaya think? Comments welcome. With a little luck, might get this back on the shelf by the end of this weekend....

Old School Retro Cool Custom '67 Camaro--Update, New Pics 10/9/18
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
At the moment, the plan is for Testor Purple Pearl with pearl white trim. Mainly because I have a bottle of the purple I had to buy to touch up a resto project and can't imagine ever using on anything else, and partly because that's the only way I'll ever have a purple First Gen Camaro for my "rainbow" collection. If I like the way it turns out, I'll do another one more like a Baldwin-Motion Camaro in dark metallic teal (1967 Tahoe Turquoise), something I've wanted to model for years. They might make a nice "His & Hers" Sonny & Cher-like set. -
More likely, a wannabe OTR trucker.

About a year ago, I saw one of those Ford Crown Vics on the highway. It was wearing FAT tires and all four tires stuck out past the body at least 3-4 inches. It looked like a badly built model, but I doubt you could roll it if you tried.

Pretty cool! What's the kit, AMT '68?
-
I've seen that T-Bird at my Walmart before, but my Walmart hasn't had anything new for 3 or 4 weeks. Maybe yours is a sign that they're being restocked, so there's hope. I wouldn't order that Porsche but if it shows up at Rite Aid next week, I'd get it, 'cause it would look great with my yellow Boxster and red Carrera S.

Very nice! Model on!

That sounds like a good idea. I'd also move the B-pillars up to the door line, or pretty close to it.

Cool! I MIGHT have bought one of those just for parts when Ollie's had them--I don't remember. Will have to look. If I do have it, I'll use it. I don't want the crazy line/flame graphic decals, but I WOULD put all the sponsor decals back on, just as they were on the originals.

Tired of your normal build subjects?

And if some woman DID get in it, you wouldn't want to have anything to do with her! -
You did about as nice with this wretched old kit as can be done. Well done and model on!

Time Machine Resin '69 Barracuda Coupe
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Interesting idea, but I'd build it as an Altered drag car before I did that to it. -
The red rims on the wheels are a nice accuracy touch.

Got the paint touched up last night. Not a perfect job but the color is darn close and it looks better than all the white chip spots--at least the touchup spots aren't the FIRST thing you'll see. Got the wheels cleaned up and the centers painted flat aluminum. Filed the chassis differential so that the wire axle can sit as low in it as possible. This should raise the back end a couple scale inches. Got the windshield frame glued back together; still have to Fauxberglass it but that's an easy job. With a little luck, I hope to have it back on the shelf this week.

Hah! I thought I'd seen 'em there, too!

Doesn't the WWII German Panther tank have something like that on its rear deck? Looks familiar....
