  1. Mine was an Air Force officer. I didn't have this rule, but probably only because he never thought of it.
  2. Doesn't look like that glass can be saved (unless you paint it black and go "slammer"), but that kit is a minor parts mine so would still be welcome at the Snakepit.
  3. Chief actually won one whole NPK event in Season 3. It looks from the previews like Chuck pulls off a big win of some kind next week. (Looks like there's gonna be some more fighting, too.) Dominator and Doc and Monza are pretty much wasting their time. Sorry to say, so is Kamikaze. Lutz isn't doing as well as he was at the beginning of the season. Murder Nova is running surprisingly well. That Monza lookalike on Disco Dean's team won Team Attack 4 last night. Amazingly, Dean's List now how two TA victories--as many as 405 and NOLA combined!
  4. I like them even less, now. And that Erik K is on my hate list, too. And I lost a LOT of respect for Robin Roberts last night, talking Brandon James into giving up a legit win. He beat you at the tree, dude! Take it like a man. From now on the only time I'll be pulling for RR is if he's running someone I dislike even more. Lizzy Musi's new car seems to be a killer! Good for her.
  5. I grew up with more stupid rules than I care to remember, or to share here. That's probably why I so value personal liberty and freedom today, and question almost everything I'm told. I try very hard to have as much control over my own life as I can. When I had my own kids, I tried to have as few rules as possible.
  6. Very nice! Don't you love bringing one back to life? Well done and model on!
  7. It should be driven by a comic book superhero called Squidman.
  8. Not long ago TLMS's Ipad was taking forever to recharge. The problem was the recharging unit. We replaced it and it's been fine since. My other guess would have been bad battery. My house (landline) phone won't hold much of a charge when the battery goes bad.
  9. Okay, use google-image to find a good picture of the emblem or nameplate you want. Many are available from restoration vendors. Download or copy the pic to your computer. Size it down to the scale you want. Print it out on decal paper. Apply to model. Done.
  10. AFAIC, Fantasia has owned that song since the third season of American Idol. (Jump to about 1:20.)
  11. Then we had four completions this round. Congratulations, Dave, you GOTTER DONE.
  12. Dave, did you ever finish the Honda that you were making such great progress on? If not, we only had three completions--and nine participants--this round. That's pretty poor. I'm thinking that maybe this thing has played itself out. If anyone wants another round (which would end on December 31), sound off now.
  13. Several small and annoying but absolutely necessary tasks on the glue bomb El Camino I'm rescuing. 1. Foiled the rear quarter emblems for foil-under-paint technique. This took about an hour. 2. Hand-painted the rear areas of the quarters Stop Light Red for the taillights. This will need a second coat tomorrow. When dry, I'll mask the taillights off and spray the finish paint right over top of them. 3. Finished polishing the windshield, which had an annoying glue burn on the inside. Started sanding and polishing this area out a couple days ago and already had a couple hours in it, but now it's finish-polished. (If I decide it's not good enough, I have the blue-tinted windows from the latest reissue for backup.) 4. Discovered I had no firewall for the project and started making one. Borrowed the firewall from an unbuilt copy of the kit, traced it on .030 styrene, cut it out, started gluing on the top-strip. This will eventually get some minor detailing (heater blank plate, maybe a simple brake master cylinder).
  14. I just finished all 9 episodes of Squid Game. The first episode is a little rough but it gets way better as it goes. Ends up being pretty darn good--not sorry I spent the time, especially since on Netflix you can watch things at 1.5X speed and save a lot of time.
  15. Do you still have most of the pieces? Dig them out and restore it as a proud survivor. Somewhere I have an Altered I built at about the same age with a Double Dragster Fiat frame, the Revell Bantam body, and the OHC 6 from the MPC '68 Firebird. I say "somewhere" because I haven't seen it in years, and I WISH I could find it.
  16. Both true. Grind all that junk out and replace it with resin, epoxy, or superglue gel (I prefer LocTite brand).
  17. What's black and white and red all inside? Your latest builds! Good, clean work. Nicely done and model on!
  18. If I had to illustrate the idea "unclear on the concept" with a picture, I think this would be it.
  19. That came out pretty well! Nicely done and model on!
  20. There might be something to what you say, but they're still good for paint-on-paint compatibility tests, drying times, and so forth.
  21. I tried them once. They were brittle, didn't have much taste, and cut my gums. You can eat all of them you want, I'll continue to paint mine.
  22. Only way to know is to test using the materials you'll be using. That's what plastic spoons are made for.
  23. Oh, I see now. I thought part 45 was part of the front suspension, but evidently not. In that case, I dunno.
  24. SNL actually managed to put together a funny episode for the first time in maybe years. Lately it's been a "good night" if they get even one genuine laugh out of me; last night's show had quite a few. The guest host was surprisingly entertaining and they used him in several clever and imaginative ways. Some of the more annoying and obnoxious regular cast members seemed to absent, or not as prominent as usual, and it felt like there was much less politics and racism than has been the normal fare of late. Maybe they hired a bunch of new writers, some with some talent? I guess we'll see in weeks to come.
  25. Would anyone be interested in a rolling "Glue Bomb/Survivor Rescue" community build? I'm not talking about full-on rebuilds here, I just mean cleaning and minor improvements that take a built model to the next level, usually taking no more than a few hours' work. (Many of you have probably seen some of my own "rescue" work here.) I'm thinking along the lines of 30-day time frames--i.e., monthly--because much of the appeal of this sort of thing is keeping things moving in a timely fashion. I find "rescues" to be fun, easy, and very rewarding projects. Sound off it this interests you--if we get some response, I'll start a thread down in the community build section.
