  1. ROTFLMAO! If we don't stop, I'm going to pee myself!
  2. You use "ppl"?! LOL! Thanks for a good chuckle Kurt! Apostrophe misuse is rampant (and it has been even before the computer revolution and the Internet). http://www.apostropheabuse.com/ for some, laughts (eye-rolls, and maybe a good cry too). https://www.grammar-monster.com/punctuation/apostrophe_misuse.html https://hamilton.edu/academics/centers/writing/seven-sins-of-writing/4 https://letseatgrammar.com/apostrophe-misuse-101/ And many many other e xamplpes if you do a Google search for "apostrophe misuse".
  3. Sure Tom, but sometimes languages can "devolve" too. "Ppl"? Really? Poor punctuation and grammar? True, we do not speak old English from the days of Shakespeare, but what people use in text messages (and what is slowly is creeping into the mainstream language), doesn't seem like a positive development.
  4. Yes, a regular keypad really needs to be there. But the original photo does not show that there is a regular keypad on that ATM. @89AKurt would have to chime in and tell us if that new ATM also has a regular keypad.
  5. I still don't see it. Even with voice descriptions, how would they be guided with a smooth touch screen? Plus even if they touched the screen, that could trigger some unwanted selection.
  6. This seems like typical grammar used while texting. I don't like it either. English language is evolving, but not in a good way. Everything is rushed. For example, no time to type "people". At least this person attempted some punctuation and capitalization - I have seen it much worse. But yes, that person's grammar leaves lots to be desired. As far as the dollar sign being placed after the amount, that is how it is spoken. You don't say "dollars thirteen", but "thirteen dollars", so the author of that message likely just wrote it the way it is spoken, without really thinking. I don't think it has anything to do with the way the currency symbol follows the amount in a written text in other countries. Actually, in other parts of the world they sometimes use syntax without the dollar symbol. Like "13,00 USD". Yes commas are often used instead of periods outside of the U.S.
  7. There are several "blind driveway" or "hidden driveway" traffic signs in my neighborhood. yes, that indicates that the person trying get out of the driveway has no good visibility of the road. What I find odd is that there are Braille labels on that ATMs only "physical" buttons when in order to make a transaction all the other buttons are "soft" or "virtual" buttons on the flat smooth touch screen. Ignoring the fact that a driver would likely not be blind (one would hope so), the blind person would not have any way to complete the transaction.
  8. Well, it if flies then is it really an automobile (car)?
  9. Nice job on those rims (hoops). Very clever marriage of kit's plastic centers and custom made aluminum rims. I've owned Sheline lathe for over 30 years, and it comes in very handy for many modeling (and other) tasks. About 10 years agoI also bought Sheline mill, and that is also very useful tool. Both American made, and fully supported by the manufacturer (spare parts, and accessories).
  10. Heating any stripping solution will increase its potency. But if too hot, it might cause damage or warping. Whenever the question of strippers comes up, I usually mention that fact.
  11. I love how you are gently trolling us Casey. Likey, likey.
  12. I think self-driving cars could be doable if *ALL* the vehicles on the roads were self-driving. The mix of human-driven and self-driving vehicles seems like it is doomed to failure. Humans are too unpredictable. But that is not a future I'm looking forward too. Thankfully, I'll probably leave this planet before that happens.
  13. Thanks for doing that David. Did you contact the moderators requesting for the thread to be temporarily unlocked for editing, then they locked it back up?
  14. That is the problem with externally hosted photos. Thankfully, after the Photobucket debacle moderators welcomed uploading all the photos to the forum site. That will assure that the photos do not disappear from any threads. Some members with missing photos in their threads also wanted to edit the old posts to either upload photos to replace the missing photos, or update links to the externally hosted photos, but since posts are now locked after couple of days, that was not really a workable solutions. But at least if members who create new threads upload their photos here, they will last as long as the forum does.
  15. True, headband magnifiers are just another type of eyeglasses. But +1.25 is a bit weak. They are usually stronger. Probably more like +2.50 or more. Yes, you will likely have to get your eyes closer to the model to get it in focus, but that is how the headband magnifiers work.
  16. Please delete - got confused by the new forum layout (and the hidden "edit post" button), but where the "quote" button is readily visible (and easy to click on).
  17. Force's procedure is a good one. As far as gap fillers go, use the same stuff you would use for filling gaps or sink marks on a model car body. Modeler's putty (any brand), 2-part Bondo filler, CA glues, filler made from the parts tree runner chips dissolved in liquid cement or MEK, etc. Whatever your favorite method is. I understand that the top gap will not be visible on a finished model, but it sure is visible on the "beauty shots" you took. I always make sure make sure that any part of the model that will be photographed is properly finished. Whenever building any model sub-assembly, try to compare it to the 1:1 version to see what it should look like (things like texture, color and everything else). That is what will make your model look most realistic.
  18. I highly doubt that any fledgling newbie modeler will ever read through all these comments. I'm no newbie, and I can't believe I kept up with it! I'm pretty sure I'll start ignoring this thread. The only amusing thing left here is that the person who started this thread never came back to comment. I kept waiting, and waiting . . .
  19. Bob, I'm not sure if this is your motor or not, but it very clearly shows something that very often shows up on model engines: The unfilled seam line on the bell housing and transmission body. ON real cars, those are solid castings with no deep seam running along the top and bottom. It is so simple to fill that gap with glue or putty and it would greatly improve the realism. Modelers spend so much time cleaning the car body: sanding mold parting lines, filling sink marks, smoothing joints, yet they totally ignore seams on the engine parts. The model engine in that photo looks really good and well detailed until your eyes notice that deep seam on the bell housing and transmission. I just don't get it. Thus could have been taken care of with couple of swipes of putty, and just a but of sanding. Do we really need more stickies here? Instead of stickies, moderators recommended adding appropriate tags to the threads (since tags are searchable), but it appears that tagging had to be done in the initial post. BTW, "sticky" is a topic (thread) that is pinned to the top of each forums topics list.
  20. That looks like a fun (production-line type) project. You didn't mention what company made the kits.
  21. My recommendation is to try to save some money and buy the real Optivisor. I owned one for about 30 years and it works REALLY well. I have tried other headband magnifiers (that friends or club members own) and I didn't like any of their inexpensive ones.
  22. Maybe in few more years, when more grumpy old modellers kick the bucket, and more yutz join the forum, the views on the like button will change. But we don't know if the forum even has that capability. If it was by me, I would keep it "like-free". Yes, I'm grumpy, but nowhere near as old as some other members here.
  23. I like that! "Civilized" version. I have a 1:43 kit of a military Harley, and I'm also planning on "demilitarizing" it.
  24. Beautiful model Mark! I also hope that admins eventually fix this problem of posting photos as links to other sites. In the "Can't see my photos" thread I have offered workarounds that seem to work for others. One is to take the link to your photo from a 3rd party photo host and paste it into MS Windows Notepad. There, strip anything other than the URL link itself (it should start with "https" and end with ".jpg". Then copy the link from the Notepad (that is important), and paste it into the text composer window in the forum. That should properly show the photo (not its link) within the post. I am able to do that to the links in your initial post and they show up properly. Or if you want to host the photos here, and they reside on the computer you are using to view the forum, you can just select the photos you want to upload to your post, then drag them into the area that shows a paper clip, below the composer window. Once they sow up in that section you can add them to the composer window. And as far as editing posts goes, that is still available, but the new forum version very stupidly hid that selection. I don't know why programmers complicate things like that. Seems that they want users to go on a treasure hunt to find the hidden options. There are three dots at the upper right of your post. Click on them to bring up a "more" menu. Edit Post should be the bottom of the 3 options there. But if the "edit" selection is not there then that means the editing is no longer possible.
  25. Neither kit has a really good set of wheels/tires. Revell tires are better, but the rear wheels don't have deeper offset (they look identical to the fronts). AMT has better wheels, but the tires have the wrong profile (the sidewalls are too tall).
