Need airbrush advice . Please
peteski replied to Ctmodeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hmmm. I was going to suggest that since these companie's paints are actual colors for 1:1 scale cars, why not use one of the online 1:1 color references sites (like https://www.autocolorlibrary.com/ ) to find the color chip, but since the model paint compnaies don't seem to list the colors under all the makes that used that color (like only for Chevy when Pontiacs used it too), that is not a good option. -
CHROME plating, plater, outsource company (2020)
peteski replied to 89AKurt's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would have bagged the frame in a Ziploc plastic bag (in case parts come loose during shipping). That is how I used to send mine out. Also, instead of hard Styrofoam cradle in a small box, I would place the bagged part in the center of a bed of packing peanuts, in a larger box. If the box gets slightly crushed or dented, in your type of packaging the frame will get bent or damaged. Using my method, the "peanuts" would just readjust, and the rack would be left undamaged. I spend way too much time stripping, smoothing and racking my parts to take *ANY* chances on shipping damage. And it happens. Good luck Kurt! -
If you own a car with a Flux Capacitor, you can use household garbage!

I should have also mentioned that VirtualBox can create a shared local folder to seamlessly access files in that share on both the native OS, and on the OS running inside VirtualBox. That is how mine is set up, because the WinXP VM has its network disabled (it is my company's policy to keep old versions of Windows off the network for security reasons).

Inkscape is a freeware vector-based drawing program. I'm surprised that Corel Draw X3 (aka 13), will not run in Windows 10. An alternative is to install a virtualization program on Windows 10, create a virtual machine (VM), install older OS on that VM (like Windows XP), then install the older Corel in that VM. That is how I'm running Corel 10 (on XP VM) on a Windows 10 machine. There are several virtualization environments available. I'm using freeware VirtualBox

Your favourite Box art
peteski replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ha! A Polish kit (including Beetle's Polish nickname 'Garbus")! Not something I see often here. Usually Polish kits depict armor or military airplanes. But this box-art is not as impressive as the racing version's. -
Um, no - that post would be instantly rejected with the 404 error. The link to SQL commands was listed in one of the related threads in "How to use this forum" section. Besides, this is getting weirder. See http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/143290-404-error-back-again/page/3/?tab=comments#comment-2194829 and the posts that follow. It seems that not just the words and their order matters - even capitalization makes a difference! Maybe you could start another thread in the Off Topic forum for us all to play a forum detective to figure out what combinations of words cause rejection (404 error). Maybe it will be as popular as your other thread there.

Ok, this is getting weirder and weirder. I just don't know anymore. It really is too bad that we have to put up with this craziness. Select from passes the filter but when the "s" is not upper case, the post gets rejectes.
-
It is not the pictures - it is the text contents. You are likely using those "bad" words in certain sequence.
-
from select Hmm. . . in this order, I can post those 2 words, but if I reverse their order I get dinged with a 404! Although, as computer language goes, that make sense. Unfortunately I suspect that this new "feature" is here to stay - we are just getting too afraid of the world around us.

I looked it up: Corian it a type of acrylic. Here are some fun facts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corian

The stuff Paul found is not moss. I see lots of it on my wood fence and tree trunks. It is lichen: A composite organism that arises from algae or cyanobacteria living among filaments of multiple fungi species in a mutualistic relationship. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lichen

Just like with everybody else, your post most likely contains one of the "tabu" words which are being quarantined by the website forbidding you access (that is what 404 error can indicate). We have been discussing this for some time in this thread. You need to figure out what word in your post is causing the problem and change it (or modify it to look like this: s-e-l-e-c-t .

I'm not sure if I agree. A flat (2D) graphic of a missile is not the same to me as an accurate 3D scale model of a car. Like Ace said, the model should be accurately scaled down without any artistic license. Well, there are some compromises (for example the thickness of the plastic, and slightly exaggerated size of some very small details might be oversize. But the overall shape should be accurate scaled down version. Otherwise, slightly exaggerating your example, we end up with something like:

Nice! Now all you need is Emma Peel (and Honey West) scale figures.

Who knows, maybe they can give you permissions to edit any of your posts for some period of time.

Very nicely build model of a gorgeous and unique car! Well done! I have that kit (to be built some day). How did the kit go together? Any other fit problems (besides the metal stickers)?

I think that if you contact the moderators, they might let you edit your old posts to upload photos to the forum and refresh the original posts. This problem has been discussed recently. See

1/12 Model Factory Hiro Ferrari 250GTO
peteski replied to BaldOldMan54's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Beautiful model Scott! Cleanly built too. You might be new in the forum, but you must be pretty seasoned modeler. And if there are any flaws (because every model has them), I don't want to hear about them! -
Um, excuse me! That is what we say in New England. You know - that crazy New England weather! But seriously, that saying can be applied to many, many places around the globe (especially within the last several years).
-
Thanks Michelle - I know that. I was just having some fun. But a year or two ago I have seem some first season episodes un-colorized (B/W) on MeTV. I can also just turn down color saturation on my TV and watch the colorized episodes in their original B/W format.

Not quite. You are correct that the function of the laser laser or the LEDs is to create the image onto the printer's drum. But the melting of the toner is done by the fuser (a hot rubber roller that is heated from the inside - usually by a halogen lamp). But as you said, both types are very similar otherwise.

So where are the brake lines on the master cylinder? You are insane, but that engine is a thing of beauty! And that tool kit . . . Bellissimo!

The A-pillar seems to have sink holes (but hopefully because it is just a test shot).
