Thoughts and ideas that hold forever true..........
stitchdup replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
theres an obvious answer in there for hapiness....... lol -
I want to see a proper street course like singapore used to be and new york would fit. If they went somewhere interesting i might watch more as it seems to be lacking something now. I used to get up and watch every race live but now i rarely even look at the results. Or make it run as normal until just before the start then flip a coin to decide if it is fastest on pole or slowest on pole. They are supposed to be the best drivers in the world so make them have to actually race instead of advertising house priced watches

are you in the same timezone?

It works for me on everything except matt black and silver paint. I soak it until it gets slightly sticky then start rubbing with the cloth and cotton buds and it soon comes off. I did find it poor with duplicolour kawasaki green, it took a lot of careful scraping with box cutter blades

Your safe on here, we'll only ban you for being a ford guy (joking, lol) but honestly banning is our last resort on here. It takes a lot for folk to get banned from here as we will moderate your posts before any ban or maybe limit access. Spamming or obvious advertising (not honest reviews from members but the heavy plant ads hidden inside a post on trucks for example) for companies will get you banned with no warnings though. We really dont want to ban folk if we can avoid it

90%+ ipa will take it off fast. just use a cloth and a couple of cotton buds. it can leave staining on the plastic from reds and blacks sometimes. Its pretty much all i use for stripping now

its like having the aftermarket on the bench i find which is great when most of the stuff i want is in the states. When i did the maths it was nearly the same as postage for 6 kits from there. The guys in america dont seem to know how good they have it for the aftermarket sometimes -
reaction videos are trash epecially when they are scripted by a clanker which is the funky new slang term for ai

if you click on the topic, it might only show the other members posts but i'm honestly not sure. I dont have any ignored members for obvious reasons -
What did you see on the road today?

While there is another Aussie pick up here, this one was new to me and actually being used as a truck instead of a toy. -

It looks like you need more primer around the headlights, the mold lines are starting to show and they will only get more noticable as paint and clear goes on. I like to use a guide coat on primer, it can be any paint as you'll be sanding it off anyway. I use my near finished rattle tins for guide coatsand after i think its smoooth enough it gets one last coat. if your doing multiple layers it can sometimes help to start with 600 grit and work up to 1000 or so on each primer layer

Using automotive paint
stitchdup replied to Bryan Brogan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
spoons are quite like the old monogram plastics, hard and brittle, while current kits are a fair bit softer. the kit plastic doesn't need to hold up to heat like the plastic silverware does unless you use the hood to stir yer coffee. also some of the knive handles make great kustom running boards for 30s cars -

once you remove the parts from the sprue your left with the perfect test piece. the sprue is the same plastic you will be painting so why use spoons if you have left over sprue. -
I would look for the front wheels from a heller 70s fergie tractor (mf2360 i think) for the rears, they are smaller than the rears on the other tractor kits and look more like those on the doodlebugs i've seen. Fronts from an aa truck might work too as many fordsons on this side of the pond had similar wheels. I've been helping with a vintage show today and fordsom are 80 this year so we will have a lot of them on display. I'm guessing at 200 tractors from before 1970

I cant wait to see how it looks once the clear settles. It would be interesting to see how/if it can be overcoated with coloured clears later. I've been hunting for a chrome that can be overcoated for my hok paints.

if you do decide to sell them i wouldn't worry too much about whats useful. just do the stuff that you'd want as i'm sure theres other that are into the same stuff. Now if we could convince mr obsessive to market his karmann ghia I'd be a happy bunny, lol

I've been setting up the displays for our classic show and this year out indoor display is the end of ww2. Every single organisation that said they would attend has pulled out today. We had signs specially made and spent a decent chunk of money getting it looking nice inside the cattle mart for them. Luckily i know folk with stuff to fill the spaces but thats not the point. we kept them informed about it all year and confirmed them all on monday and they were happy then. I'm going to stop before i cuss them out and ban myself.
