The whole Cali wildfire thing is pretty hard to believe.
stitchdup replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
i could give you a long complicated answer but the truth is everytime we suffer they get richer. to them we are just another resource to be used and abused and they have great pr teams to tell us how urinating in a bottle or working 80 hours a week is good for us when they really mean good for them. they dont care about us in truth but hey we have big screen tvs so they cant be that bad can they? -
i've got a leather punch for making belts. it has six sizes of hole and keeps the centre flat when its removed which fit most gauges. a drop f white glue to hold them and jobs a goodun

theres some 3d phantom grilles for the late 60s chevy trucks that would cut down to fit -
not surprised really, xbox controllers are garbage

the playstation consoles and controllers have a bit about them not being permitted to be fitted to military tech. when i was using my ps3, it had a lot of extra capabillity that sanford university (i think) used in the computting dept. if your ps3 was online it would be doing calculations for them in the background. gaming tech is especially useful in hospitals too

i've still got 1 thru 4 playstations, a very very rare ps2 with internet from when i used my video game skills to test the internet capabilities of the playstation 3, sega megadrive and master system, x box 1 and 2, nintendo, sinclair zx spectrum 48k and a few hand helds. i mostly play driving games and i am in the top 100 players worldwide on gran turismo 7. I only have the system i'm using set up though. the thing with gran turismo is the car set ups. the movie did get that right. you can try things in the game just like on a 1/1. things have jumped ahead massivly since using the arrow keys, and the air forces and armies all around the world are crying out for gamers to play their drone games or fly their jets as the same skills are needed. every race team has a sim rig now because they work, and its much cheaper to run a game than a racecar. gaming is a bigger part of some of you lives than you might realise even if you dont play.

Steering gear gaiters?
stitchdup replied to YellowHound's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
you could take some thin styrene tube and wire it fits over, then heat about an inch of it with a lighter and force the ends towards each other. you should be able to make up some short lengths with each lot of heat, and if you remove the wire quick enough you should have time to bend them if needed. -
Mack and heavy equipment project

the blah blah blah means you used a cuss word and it got auto out by the forum. when it comes down to it, you messed up by using bad language in the first place -
Cars that grow on you as you get older.
stitchdup replied to RSchnell's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i've printed one to put a cosworth 4 pot into. They do have a good look about them -
i like the plasticote aluminium. But i use c1 metaliser on it for a polished look. if you spray it fairly light you can get a decent looking finish but its by no means the only one i use though it is the only one i spray

Aircraft engines for the street

most of whats out there is from his adventures being sued by rolls royce. One said it had a modified gearbox and another just said it took a lot of work. i'm looking for its auction pics now -
I've been seeing a lot of pre war british aero engine specials on youtube recently, along with the huge engine fiats etc. It got me thinking about building a 50s version of John Dodds Beast which has a more interesting story than many cars. It still exists but i want to do a 58 cadillac as i figure jets were much more common then so maybe a spitfire engine would be an easy find, and i already have the arii and airfix kits, but i dont know where to start with the axle and gearbox. I'm aiming for a silly street car rather than a racer

add the milk to a decent size pan and season with eggs, chocolate powder, sugar and flour until sticky, then keep stirring until cooked -
2025 Cannonball Run - 50 years since the 1975 run.
stitchdup replied to Mattilacken's topic in Community Builds
can i check some of the rules please. are we racing in 1974 or today? an orange car would stand out less in 1974 than it would today and modern parts are allowed for brakes and suspension in historic racing which could sneak under the rules if we're racing today. As it is cars aready skirting the rules, but you'll see that once i clean some things up. I have my arguements and shakey evidence ready, lol -
It can come from anywhere, sometimes i'll see a car online or sometimes it'll be a part i found.i find pics from a variety of sources too and flickr can be good, then theres blogs and websites. fuelcurve is great for goodguys coverage andstreet machine Aus has a decent mix of cars only they got. for more modern stuff theres speedhunters who cover worldwide tuning and the tokyo auto salon, the moon website has lots of Japanese rods n customs along with domesic customs. for custom rigs 10-4 is good and for everything google images is a great place to start and the right search terms can send you down the rabbit warren of links for pics and lead to sites we just dont know about. for euro tuning theres also carstyling.com, a hungarian site but they feature everything they think is cool. and theres carnut.com for old usa rod n customs (not updated since 2018 but still good) along with customrodder.forumactif.com for kustoms and rods. theres hundreds more and asking on here always brings up new sites

it used to be available from that classic restoration catalogues that were in every magazine circa 2000. i cant remember the name (maybe frost) but the cover was usually green. they rebranded some of eastwood products but i've not seen them for years

How to Smartly Aquire Vintage Kits?
stitchdup replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If theres any cars that you're in hurry to build theres always 3d printed kits. They need more work and some are lacking in a lot of areas but they make up for it in variety. for example say you want a plymouth belvedere, would you like 4 doors or 2? sedan or wagon? or do you want a different body style for your chevy pick up? crew cab or regular? long bed or short? dually or single? blazer or suburban? as they come they are a little basic but build a nice enough model, but some kitbashing (or the aftermarket if you want modern) gets you a nicer chassis and running parts, while the rest just needs more effort. even without any effort you get something presentable from 10ft. this was a bottle of resin at 1pm on a sunday and by 6pm on monday i had a model nobody has done in pastic. not a great example as it was just to see how fast i could print and build something and its a bad print but... its not the same as plastic and honestly i prefer plastic but it opens up a whole world of options with clever kitbashing. they might seem expensive but how much do vintage kits cost. -
Need ideas - painting 67 Cougar tail lights
stitchdup replied to bh1701's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
if you have molotowe or similar, you can put a thin coat on a flat eraser, then when its tacky gently roll the light over it, taking care to do it evenly. if you tape a cocktail stick to the light it makes it easier. it might take a couple of tries but you can build it up if you let the lights dry between atempts. -
