  1. the primer is still there, its just absorbing colour from the plastic. you dont really need a scratch test as thats more work to fix. a coat of silver will let you use any colour over it without the bleed thru being a problem. the tailgate on this was orange plastic and turned the primer peach but silver before the white fixed it
  2. It just takes practise. some paint brands can be better than others to help achieve good paitjobs but in reality practise will get you better results than brand names. I've seen great paintjobs from awful paint and i've seen awful paintjobs from good brands. the best advice is probably stick to one type and brand of paint to begin with then add others as you progress. also just because 2 paints are the acrylic, it doesn't mean they will be compatible. and enamel paint should always be used last if you are mixing paint types as it will react under other paints but can be used over them, though i would stick to acrylics at the start. it generally has a faster drying time and is a little more forgiving to work with than enamels. enamels can still be soft weeks later while acrylic should be safe to handle after only a couple of hours, though i tend to leave them overnight.
  3. crops irkles are something many think are to do with aliens but i think its just drunken tractor donuts
  4. your posts are moderated for the first 25 posts. we do this to try to stop the spammers. commenting on other folks posts will make moderation go away faster
  5. once you pass 70 its already a ticket, might as well make it a surprise too cos everybody likes a surprise
  6. i bet that jeep crossed the border more than once
  7. i'll edit it guys. its a big help if you can use the 3 dots to report these things. there are near 100 threads and over a thousand comments most days and its real easy to miss something.
  8. the camper version is tan plastic and doesn't bleed
  9. I'm going with ai. it has a 42 ford style split in the rear fender but not in the fronts and the grille looks too flat and finally the join between the rear of the roof and the trunk just doesn't look fordlike
  10. you can find decals at hiroboy, though i kinda like it without. it looks like a press car
  11. they are on etsy, amazon and ebay
  12. the benefit of the forum over facebook or you tube is as a reference. i know i use it to look at other builds of kits i'm building, even if i'm building a completely different style. you can usually zoom in a pic but not a video and good luck finding anything twice on facebook. my facebook is nothing but archeology when i'm only in model groups so i only use it to message mum. if she would learn to carry her phone i'd never use it, lol
  13. are you sure its not an over active thyroid? lol
  14. we tried making them into burgers. they were not terrible but they also weren't good.
  15. its a kit that really should have a load of transkits available. it really wouldn't take much to get most of the period gm cars from them. most of the bodies and fenders can pass for each other so it would only take grilles and hoods to get pretty close
  16. how are those? i want an ae86 for my collection but i dont want to do a anything over complicated as its just to fill a gap in my collection
  17. the worst bleed through i've had was the orange revell t2. with every coat of grey primer it got more and more peach and it took 2 coats of silver. usually just enough to cover does the job but it took a paintjob nearly. if i wasn't just using the tailgate it would have made a great early 90s cal looker colour
  18. the cosplay folks have thinner vinyl sheets. they are slightly flexible too so should work on corners. i dont use it myself but the rc guys all seem to use them
  19. you can see it attack the hill in the goodwood coverage, it sounds evil
  20. got a couple tins of tamiya light green pearl. possibly the easiest colour choice ever as it was the only colour they had 2 off and 1 isn't enough for the golf. of course i got home to find i already had a full tin and a half tin, lol. Also got another tin of rubber black just to have extras
  21. i chucked the lot i got away. it did the same marking/damage on the paint as tamiya tape does
