I was very close to using the white and yellow colour scheme

So the stock stance is close to this but thats just not my think so now its this and here's before and after shots of the body and the interior tub with one side half done, and the other day

They had some pretty cool ones up to the b7 audi rs, now its black grey or silver. I think I'm going for something with lots of pearl for this though

Well I finally got started on this. As is normal I started by playing with some wheel options I like the racing harts and rotiforms but in the end I went for hre look rims from one of the aoshima r35lbw kits The biggest job on this is the stance as out of the box it could pass as a off roader and thats just not my thing. Luckily there is enough resin under the body and interior parts to grind loads away. On the inner part I have enlarged and deepened the wheel arch to get it low but as you can see it is sitting too far back into the arch. To remedy this i carefully thinned the the inner arch on the body, making sure the edge was thinned to pull the wheel out into the arch. You can see how far out it has moved on the rotiform more than the racing harts Next up is to do the fronts and other side at the rear. I'll get a pic of the stock stance before I start grinding it. I've lowered it around 1/4 inch so far and I think the rear will sit a touch lower once the fronts are done

and electrics (if you thought lucas electrrics were bad...) stupid ways of mounting things so you have to remove body panels to change a lightbulb (laguna) remove engine parts or suspension parts to get to the alternator (again laguna) putting the engine computer right where all the road spray gathers (most renaults) oh, and the computers in most renaults wont speak to even renaults diagnostic computers without a large (multi hour) update for every car, every engine size and it really wouldn't surprise me if you needed an update for every colour too. I used to work in a renault dealership, and nobody that worked there owned a reno, even the boss owned a toyota. The only renault that was any good was the kangoo van

Polishing base coat before clear?
stitchdup replied to rightrudder's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I wouldn't polish it, it will just cause problems with your clear. -
While this car has lots of provenence I just dont see it breaking the million. Until it was displayed in dc a lot of people didn't really know what it was other than a nice looking custom. Its not been the star of a movie or had so many where is it programs like the bullit mustang. I think it will stall out around 750-800k but I'm no expert

I believe it was part of the inspiration for the pikes peak golf, though it used a different engine.

Thanks Bill, I think I'll try the vw box as its a bit smaller than the porsche ones I have. I dont think I can fit it transversly as its just a little too long. My main aim is to have enough space to get a driver to still fit. There will be twin engined golf sometime too though

Are there any kits that have a fwd gearbox which keeps the engine inline? I'd like to put an audi 5 pot in the back of a golf

Revell VW T2 camper (bay window) Snap
stitchdup replied to stitchdup's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Both the camper and van sold out very quickly, if you didn't get one when you saw it, it would be gone next time you looked. I got mine from italy cos there were none at any of the places i use in the uk -
fun fact, the first version of the frankenstein tale was set about 10 miles from my house, Mary Shelley was a frequent visitor to the orkney islands

Drive By Wire In 1958
stitchdup replied to OldTrucker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
apr can fix that, or most aftermarket vw places. has the benefit of increasing the mpg too cos the car gets a tune for us gas too instead of the international tune they arrive with. Works even better on the diesels, even the base tune removes that nonsensicle feature, and you can get another 15mpg on top of an extra 40+bhp -
Thankyou, I always seem to forget about youtube, lol

I'm getting started on a car that has a lot of small carbon fibre details on the interior and exterior. Would I be better to cut them before I apply them or is it better to wait and trim them afterwards. The places they have to go are all pretty tight shapes like mirrors, bumper trim and a very fine edge around the grilles. On the interior they go around some pretty tight curves and again both sides are seen. The kit is the alpha models audi rs4 and it was pretty expensive so I really want to do a good job on it as I saved up for 3 months to buy it

Revell VW T2 camper (bay window) Snap
stitchdup replied to stitchdup's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
yes, its new. It was released in europe at the end of november. I'm not sure when it will get to the USA but I expect it might have to be an import as theres no way it will fit the us boxes. Its one of those kits you open that wont fit back in the box -
Heres the contents of the new camper from revell. Its the recent bus kit with some new parts to make it a westphallia camper. All the bus parts are there except for the rear seats and it has the stock roof as well (which I wish I knew before I ordered another bus for the roof) The first pic is the van parts with the only change from the bus being the beige plastic instead of orange. The glass in the kit is new, and feature the flappy style windows which passed for aircon in these campers The camper pop top is new and I included pics of both sides of it Like all the revell camper kits it can be built open or closed and the canvas has detail molded in but I dont think it will be visible after paint unless your paint is very thin Again I include 2 pics to show both sides. The camper parts are mostly on the same sprue and look pretty good. The final sprue has more camper parts and what I first thought was a bed is actually the headliner for the closed pop top The decals come in 2 types. There is a basic sheet of stickers and a much better set of decals All in all I think its a pretty good kit which will build up well, but it is also a good basis if you want to go for more detail. The engine while just 2 parts looks good enough that some wiring will really make a difference and the kit goes together in a way that makes it an easy enough job to do. I'm sure it wont be long before we some extra detail for this from the after market. There are already 3d printed bodies available for this kit if you want a bus or a van but the roof on every one of them I've seen is a bit goofy so if you want a pick up I suggest getting the hasegawa t1 and swapping fronts around as its a really simple process. Just cut along the door line on the bus and pick up and your most of the way there

I agree, I just finished a week on a unladen catermaran ferry and it was jumping around like a bronco. My face still hurts from all the salt spray and it wasn't even at sea. I think I wore more coffee than i drank

I'm going to guess the next ev from revell will be another audi, and if they are paying attention to 1/1s it will be the quattro rally car ken block is using for the next gymkhana vid. I think it would be a big seller just cos its blocks car and styled after the group b monsters so thats 2 markets for them
