3d printing pleased me today. For a long time I've been looking for a tempo matador truck and now someone has gone to the trouble of making it available as a resin print and theres loads of other vws I never thought I'd see in scale such as a mk2 scirocco and mk1 jetta. Theres even engine options becomming available so I'm very happy now. I hope this carries on for a while

I saw one done like that on trak, I think the builder was called crazy swede. It looked good. If you go for it I'll be watching cos i recently got one of these to do the same thing. Theres some good pics on the deco rides website off the terry cook purple one from the late 90s and i think there was build up pics of it too

Indoor paint booths, smells, fumes, etc.?
stitchdup replied to Oldmopars's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use mine in the living room or bedroom, no problems unless the wind is in the window the hose is sticking out of but then its easy to use another window. My booth is a cheap one from amazon and I use mostly auto paints (acrylic) from a spray can. I have emphysema so fumes are a big problem for me but the booth fixed that. I would suggest getting a booth a size or 2 up from mine (14" by 24") as I find mine just a little small. I build 1/24 and 1/25 cars mostly. Mine also has lights around the opening which i would say is a must have as you will block a lot of light when you are painting. There is a slight smell sometimes but i dont think it is too strong. Also be sure to get more filter screen at the same time as you can be sure you'll need it when everywhere is closed -

The Official EBay Discussion Thread
stitchdup replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thars the reason I wont sell on ebay. I've already been hacked once by doing that on a trusted site with all the padlocks and ssid stuff. No way will i ever give ebay my account details. Besides isn't the first rule of the internet NOT to give out too much personal information? -
Another source for wood bed material
stitchdup replied to Rick L's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I've used wood shavings from a local wood workers floor. He likes when I come along him cos I'll sweep the entire floor for him and pick out the bits I like. A little bit of care when choosing and you can find grain that looks in scale. Its simple to flatten too, just soak it in hot water then put it between 2 heavy flat items until it dries -
PROBLEM COPYING PHOTOS ON MCM INTO NEW THREADS ON MCM
stitchdup replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in How To Use This Board
I could see both your pics, the hot rod and the concept car. -
Well last year turned out to be nothing but problems for me so I dont think I finished anything. Ya wouldn't think the glue from one model could wreck the paint on one next it as well as the one it was on, so I'll never use gorilla glue again. My plan for this year is to mix it up a bit. Lots more variety hopefully. 1, alpha model audi rs4 stanced, 2,sqarebody step side 3,low boy model A jalopy using a monogram built up as the base 4,vw type2 pick up. I've already combined the hasegawa pick up with the recent revell bus 5,vw type 2 camper- unusually for me it wont be slammed as it a replica of the one we used to own. the new revell camper will be the base but with the roof from the bus as ours didn't have the pop top and the layout was different 6,something japanese 7,a tractor with scratch built implement 8,finish one of the many started started 30s customs 9,1/24 mk1 scirocco and mk2 scirocco 10,something american 11,kyzyll saleem type build probably based on a vw or audi I'm sure there will be others

Favourite files and sprue cutters
stitchdup replied to Steve H's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use sprue cutters from dave coleys emporium which are small enough to cut the tight sprue on the amt and revell engine packs, but they aren't very good for the more delicate parts like aerials and stuff. I've also got both sets of their files, straight and curved. I like the curved ones as they have teeth on both sides of the curve. I also use draper files and some really cheap ones from the pound shop. You have to be careful when buying the pound shop ones, but if you check them first you should be ok, some just have lines on but no bite. I also use the metal nail files from the pound shop but their more like metal sandpaper than files however they last well and clean up is a breeze with them, and they usually have 3 different grades in the pack. The fine one is about a 800+ grit, med is 400 and the course one is 180-240 grit. I also use the large heavy files on occaision when a lot of material needs removed or to level up sills/rockers after body work. None of my tools were more than 5 or 6 pounds. I should point out that being scottish i probably live up to the stereotype of being tight with money, remember, copper wire was invented when 2 scotsmen fought over a penny. -
No Prep Kings Season Four
stitchdup replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I hope disco makes the list, but isn't he just no prep? He sure seems to be the happiest racer on the lot. His win against ryan was probably the highlight for me so far and even ryan seemed happy about it. His team and the texas team seem to be the most together as far as camaradery goes. I just dont want to see team x win, their team seems to be the most big headed and unsporting and that just puts me off. The bullying brandon into avoiding the scales was completely out of order imo -
They look a lot like the road rollers my local council had during the 80s. I might have to get more than 1 to try a conversion

I'm in for at least 1 e tron and probably the olds cutlass as a donor kit

Lamborghini Hot Rods and Outlaws
stitchdup replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
a couple more. incidentally, if you want a 1700 bhp lambo the kit is only 188,000 plus tax on top of the car cost -
Lamborghini Hot Rods and Outlaws
stitchdup replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
How about a street murchialago converted to independant throttle bodies and a manual gearbox. Its not on air, the front suspension had to be completely rebuilt to suit the doors as the wheels sit where the hinges used to be, but the doors still open in the factory style. It also has genuine gt1 kit. Built by driftworks in the uk from a lp670 -

they might be cougar lights but given all the other work done on it I suspect their custom made. cougar lights are a bit bigger aren't they?
