Nice work, the first one looks very convincing, I like the battered top on the 48 too

Its good to see JJ and the family (cant really call them a team) back on tv. Just watching the first episode and it looks like it could be more interesting this season with the Memphis family racing in the qualifiers along with the rest. So far everyone seems to be faster than last season but I'm only half way through the episode. Some new teams this year too. I wont discus the results as I'm sure many of you haven't seen it yet but its looking good so far

Polishing base coat before clear?
stitchdup replied to rightrudder's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've done the same with hok lime pearl. It was chipped down to the resin (dropped a clamp on it, doh) so some careful prime, base, pearl and clear and you would only see it if you knew where it was. -
are they some of the pirate tamiya kits? I had the calibra and it was very obvious it was a almost straight rip off from the tamiya kit

Never heard of that in scotland, it might be a scottish recipe but its more likelly as scottish as mel gibson was in braveheart or an advertising slogan. You might like some of the brew dog beers though as they seem to be similar If you guys want to trade model kits for single malt whiskys I'm up for that, lol. There are 2 whisky distillers, 2 gin distillers, 1 gin blender and one dark rum blender (its not very good, just cheap whisky blended with molasses) local to me, and I can get most up to 18yr old whiskys. After that they get real expensive. Personally I cant stand whisky but thats probably cos when we were little there was more chance of the shop having whisky than calpol so we got whisky when we were sick and it was rubbed on badies gums when they were teething. On a related note, heres ardbeg whisky's tractor

Very cool, the stance really makes for a tough look on it. Nice details in the interior too

I've got a set of them but thy're earmarked for a mercedes vip build. Besides I've already painted the rims of the hre's orange to help the carbon coated centres stand out so I guess I'll be having an orange interior now instead of the red. And the hre's are a staggered fittment so should look even wider now they aint one colour

It would if it was a lower model of audi, the arches of the rs would mean a lot of the yellow would just be pin stipes so a lot of the rally look would be gone. Here it is on non rs saloon of the same age. On the rs the arches would be pumped out and a lot of the look would be lost imo. But it would work really well on something I already have planned.... a rally audi r8!!!

They look like a simple scratch project. Just a bit of tube/rod with a small square on the end. The glass packs would be simple too if youcant find any, just some rod with the ends rounded a little

211 arrived in scotland today. another cool issue
-
I was very close to using the white and yellow colour scheme

So the stock stance is close to this but thats just not my think so now its this and here's before and after shots of the body and the interior tub with one side half done, and the other day
-
They had some pretty cool ones up to the b7 audi rs, now its black grey or silver. I think I'm going for something with lots of pearl for this though

Well I finally got started on this. As is normal I started by playing with some wheel options I like the racing harts and rotiforms but in the end I went for hre look rims from one of the aoshima r35lbw kits The biggest job on this is the stance as out of the box it could pass as a off roader and thats just not my thing. Luckily there is enough resin under the body and interior parts to grind loads away. On the inner part I have enlarged and deepened the wheel arch to get it low but as you can see it is sitting too far back into the arch. To remedy this i carefully thinned the the inner arch on the body, making sure the edge was thinned to pull the wheel out into the arch. You can see how far out it has moved on the rotiform more than the racing harts Next up is to do the fronts and other side at the rear. I'll get a pic of the stock stance before I start grinding it. I've lowered it around 1/4 inch so far and I think the rear will sit a touch lower once the fronts are done

and electrics (if you thought lucas electrrics were bad...) stupid ways of mounting things so you have to remove body panels to change a lightbulb (laguna) remove engine parts or suspension parts to get to the alternator (again laguna) putting the engine computer right where all the road spray gathers (most renaults) oh, and the computers in most renaults wont speak to even renaults diagnostic computers without a large (multi hour) update for every car, every engine size and it really wouldn't surprise me if you needed an update for every colour too. I used to work in a renault dealership, and nobody that worked there owned a reno, even the boss owned a toyota. The only renault that was any good was the kangoo van

Polishing base coat before clear?
stitchdup replied to rightrudder's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I wouldn't polish it, it will just cause problems with your clear.
