What did you see on the road today?

I saw the video, just didn't know what it was as we dont get stuff even close to that on the roads around here. fishing boats on trailers are common but never rockets -

What is that on the trailer? -
By the sounds of the articles I've found it was a french military test. I would assume it to be khaki or sand coloured. heres some articles on it http://motos-of-war.ru/en/motorcycles/moto-chenille-mercier/ thers one on reddit too but i cant seem to link it but a google image search for tracked motorcyle will bring it up as one of the top results.

Looking for "restomod" wheels and tires...
stitchdup replied to dreadpyrat's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
If you want aoshima or fujim rim sets cheaper try 1999.co.jp or hlj.com. Both are in Japan but even with shipping work out much cheaper. An ebay search for resin wheels 1/24 will bring up loads of options, but for ones similat to those in the pic try hobby design as they have loads like those in different sizes but they generally need you to supply tyres. You can find them on the hobby design site or hiroboy in the uk usually have a good selection, however they are shut till this virus goes away. -

Help chopping a 36 3 window
stitchdup replied to stitchdup's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Its mainly the rear im stuck on, i think the 5 windows are a little simpler to chop. if you cut the rear window section out but leave the side windows intact on the body then chop them down with the rest of the roof. My previous chops have been a 40 ford, 62 bel air, 48 ford woody(sectioned too) and a mk2 jag. They weren't too bad to do because of the side windows. Its the lack of side windows thats throwing me off i think. I've had a look on the hamb and ccc forums but the chops they show dont really show where the cuts were done. Maybe I should put a post on ccc in the hope of someone having pics of the cuts or at least a pic of the chop before the welds were cleaned up. -
Hey guys, my next project after the hebmuller will be a monogram 36 ford 3 window. I would like to chop it but all i've previously chopped have been 5 windows and I have very little idea where to make the cuts for the rear of the roof. I would like more of a custom chop than hot rod chop as the plan is to use a la salle grille. Thanks in advance

Today I have pretty much completed the chassis and engine, with just a couple parts to fit after the body has been fitted. I will also be doing some light weathering using some ak washes but the body will be shiny and clean. I'll start the pics with better pics of the body. Here is the front suspension. I have drilled through the hubs and glued some elastic through the holes. The elastic is glued to the suspension arms top and bottom, and i have drilled out the arms where they mount to the torsion bars. I then cut them free and used some cut down sewing pins to enable the arms to rotate. So now the parts are back together, I have working front suspension. The engine is all stock tamiya, just painted in different metal tones to add some interest. I will be going back to touch up the paint during final assembly And a test fit of the hebmuller engine bay to check it fits. As it turns out there was some trimming needed on the resin part but it wasn't much. I dont have any luck getting the pics to show in order but here goes

so using superglue on his front door lock wasn't the right thing to do? As it turns out he's in jail now for other offences (kidnap, assault and more) but there is a video on youtube of him getting his keister kicked by a kid when he tried to rob a local shop previously. heres the video https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-17377089/shop-robber-fought-off-with-sticky-tape

stitchdup replied to David G.'s topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Theres some 3d printed mirror sets on the auction site. each set has multiple mirrors and are in interior and exterior sets. Price didn't look bad to me but may be higher for you guys in the US -
Just arrived. This is the second time I've bought this set as my upstairs neighbour stole the previous one of my doorstep.

Dumb newb question: How to install seats
stitchdup replied to jchrisf's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Usually the seat edges will fit to the raised parts in some way. They may wrap around the edge or have some way to connect to the raised part on the base of the seat. It could be a step on the inside of the seat base or it could be a couple of pins. Theres quite a lot of variety sometimes but I'm sure you'll figure it out. Which kit is it? it might help for answers -
There is a resin trans kit of the early unimog (rounder body shape) out there, unfortunatelly i have no idea who makes it but i believe i saw it on a german unimog specific forum

How do I black wash a grille ?
stitchdup replied to Ctmodeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I tend to use tamiya light smoke (number 19 i think but could be wrong about that) and a brush over the kit chrome and over auto acrylics. It doesn't tend to sit on the high points and gives a nice effect on grilles. I have some ak washes too but i haven't tried them yet -
