Can-Con

Since I started using this stuff over 25 years ago I don't have all those "hot paint" problems. A couple coats airbrushed over your primer after all your bodywork is done and your good to go.

Alan, have you perhaps thought about using an AMT Pheaton body? The interior should fit without any modifications and you could make the rag top removable or just leave it off for viewing the interior.

Very true Bill. No one expected Chrome Tech to shut down, that was unexpected. A few years ago Chrome+ just kinda stopped. Louis had done my plating since he was the only one in Canada to do it. I don't know exactly what happened but last time I talked to him, he had just moved and expected to have his plating equipment set back up again shortly. That was at least 5 years ago,IIRC. I e-mailed him about this time last year but had no response so ?? I guess it just goes to show, like resin, if you want something or need something done in this hobby, better get it done now. You never know when they'll shut down and you'll be out of luck.

Definitely the best way to go if the scripts and emblems stand out enough from the body. Here's one I did about 15 years ago. Sorry for the blurry pic.

I like B ,, but I'd like it better with a chrome '29 rad and stock hood. I could live with the wheels but rather a set of 15 or 16s. OH, but here's another option I bet some would like even better.

If it were me, I'd use a set of wire wheels from an AMT Cobra roadster kit. Cut a small disk for each wheel from an appropriate size plastic rod and attach them to the centers of the wheels. You may have to carefully sand the wheel center down so the disk will sit flat on the spokes. a little foil and a bit of red paint should finish it off. Better yet if you can find the red rocket decals but I don't know if any kit has them.

Did it last year. Paint turned out a bit too dark though.

Thanks everyone. Yea, that pickup is one of my personal faves too. They might be my favorite because we had a burgundy long stepside GMC when I was a kid . I've got at least 4 more I want to build too. , , The red custom from the side of the GMC stepside box. an almost stock lime green and white '69 or '70 Chevy stepside another full custom incorporating parts from this generation truck and the '88 up trucks. candy orange-red maybe?? a candy dark blue '72 short fleetside with a thin tube grille. Good thing I stocked up on kits, parts and re-builders when I came across them.

That's gonna be cool. I've been planning a '55 build along the same lines as yours, even have the same wheels in the box for it. Hadn't really thought about a chassis swap but I do have a Revell '55 cvt I was never planning to build though so?? Going to do mine in black and white like a "black widow" '57 and have a big block . Those cars do look good in green, I'll be following this build for sure.

I think all issues of the kit have it as it's on the chrome tree but the only one I had was the one from the '70s with the blue kit on the box. Maybe someone here will have one they'll part with?

There's one of those in the old Revell '55 Chevy with all the opening panels.

We were lucky. There's still people living in small travel trailers with porta-potties in some spots along the St.John river.

Cool, I think this is the first factory stock build I've seen of one of these kits. I've seen the metallic lime '76 GM color lots of times but I didn't know there was a solid version, that'll really make the car stand out. Nice.
