A kit? I've never seen before ....
Can-Con replied to Dale Gribble's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It was a promotion for the movie. Don't know how many were made but it's pretty rare. -

AMT did a '67 and MPC did a '68. The kits were almost identical. Happy hunting. -
Looks about right for a stock build in the last mockup pic to me. Tires are too large though. But that's what comes in the kit. They do sit quite high with the stock suspension. I'd like to get new springs for mine with about 2" lowering but don't want to compromise ride quality at this time.

History of MPC's Dodge D/W Series Trucks
Can-Con replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
They were probably in those too but I think they were tooled up for the 1/20 Indy Turbine. -
Pretty sure no '73 T/As. The MPC annual was a Formula that year. I agree that the easiest route would be to get one of the Monogram/Revell '70 T/As and a set of decals from Keith Marks in the color you need. You'll also need seats. The '70 has the "one year only" lo-back buckets. A set from the Monogram '78 should be pretty close except for the sew pattern. As for the SD455, The 400 in the kit could easily be painted up to look the part. They were basically the same on the outside. Possibly different exhaust manifolds ??

Revell Bronco vs. Revell Baja Bronco
Can-Con replied to Mahogany Rush's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
My local hobby shop has the Baha kit listed $2.75 CHEAPER than the original. Maybe you should shop around because it looks to me as the Baha being twice the price of the original is BS and that shop is taking advantage of thier customers. -
Modelhaus Shasta w/ 60 Chevy SD resin build thread ..
Can-Con replied to Dale Gribble's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I think you're both right. I't looks to me to be the Monogram SD roof and tail gate on a R/M '60 hardtop. I'd say the "top chop" is so you can use the windshield that came in the donor kit as the roof on a sedan or S/D is quite a bit higher than a hardtop or cvt. -
1972 GMC STEP
Can-Con replied to migace's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very nice. I like that you did the black paint on the grille that the 1/1 '72 trucks had. Most people don't do that. -
IIRC, that is correct.
-
Yea, I thought that was pretty well common knowledge by now. ,, Al least in our circle.

AMT Corvettes 3 Complete Kits Review
Can-Con replied to regular guy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The MPC kit was made back in the '60s. The MPC kit was made in the late '90s and is a lot newer tooling. They are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT KITS. -
I should have said it more clearly ,, what I should have said was although the kit was originally released in the early '60s, the decals would indicate the '80s release, definitly if it was molded in black. That poor old Chevy kit's been in release in one version or another pretty well constantly since it was first issued.

Tried to post this as a response to my last update but it wouldn't go. Maybe the old post was too old but anyway,, It's coming along well. Mostly back together and the paint's mostly buffed out. Still have to go over it with the haze & swirl remover in a couple places.

Great build. Looks like you did your homework too. Most people would have just put that heater hose on the front of the engine and not known the difference.

Just beautiful all around.

Story of Jo Han models.
Can-Con replied to GMP440's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think the last tool cut by Jo-Han would have been the '79 Coupe deVille. A promo but they also released that generation Caddy as a snap kit. Not sure if the kit was a '77, '78 or '79. -
