1968 Chevrolet pickup promo prices
Can-Con replied to 89AKurt's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you mean the hood on my truck, yea, I know it's off a bit and missing the lettering but I figure it's close enough for a custom. It's not resin, I just modified the one from the '72 kit. -
Love 308s for some reason and that one looks great. I assume it's this kit without the flares and decals?
-
I noticed those weird fender lines too. After doing some research by looking at old AMT annuals and promos of that generation Chevelle I found that the bodys have been like that since the first '70 promos. Those lines do look like they are there in a lot of photos but it's just an illusion from reflections. The team making the original mold probably only had pics to work from and thought they got it right. They're not that hard to fix though. .

I'm glad you got it Ron. I had made a deal with him and he backed out after he found out it cost extra to ship to Canada.

Look'n pretty good Andre. Don't forget to paint the section just below the headlight doors and edge of the hood black too.

EVERYTHING you'd need to build a truck like that is available from the aftermarket. '68 grille and fender emblems, https://www.ebay.com/itm/67-68-Chevy-Resin-Grill-Conversion-for-the-AMT-1972-GMC-Pickup-1-25-CPG678/311761961234?hash=item4896760112:g:8UYAAOSw6DtYVPHp '68 bumper, https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-AMT-MPC-Dated-68-Chevy-Pickup-Resin-Front-Bumper-CPB2F/311761968989?hash=item4896761f5d:g:3BEAAOSwa~BYVPyJ Someone has the '68 hood in resin, Time Machine maybe? Add that with the last issue AMT '72 and you pretty well got it except for the side trim. You could recreate the original trim with plastic strips or just build a truck without the side trim. AND it'll still cost a lot less than 110 bucks. [no resin in this one but this will give you an idea what one can look like] -
"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Can-Con replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I posted this in my own thread too but,,, Drilled out the molded in headlights today. Used a small drill bit followed up with my trusty x-acto knife and a small 1/2 round file to clean up and center the openings. I've also been working on the engine over the last few weeks. It's the original engine from the kit with intake and valve covers from one of the MPC '79 TransAm kits. -
Revell '29 hotrod pickup.
Can-Con replied to Can-Con's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Been working on the engine. went with green because it's close to the stock color. The Basic engine is from one of the Revell '32 Ford kits. The valve covers are from the old Revell pink Hayes pro street Thunderbird. -

Yes, It wasn't broken, why was it "fixed"?

I concur 100% Most of my builds take months, if not years to finish also.

Revell 65 Chevelle - Butcher job
Can-Con replied to Wm David Green's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
To add to what David said, The area between the wheel openings and front bumper is significantly different. I have a '64 wagon with that part broken off the right fender. Was gonna just graft the area on from a '65 wagon or Elky until I noticed the difference. -
Me too. I think there's quite a few here that do that.
-
Seems to be a one hour time limit to edit now. Why on earth would they do that? I can actually think of one reason. So if you start merde you can't go back and edit it to make yourself look better after it starts to fly.

Can't help with the drcals but, IIRC, the Monogram 1/32 '69 Charger has a nice set of Magnum 500s. -

That's what I figured too Mark. The dog boxes at the back give it away. -

Neat. Anyone recognize the Ford pickup that pulls up at the end? Nice touch. Oh, and what's all that green smoke around the "Mystery Machine"? -
AMT/ERTL 64.5 Mustang 1/16 scale
Can-Con replied to martin9428's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A buddy of mine has one of these. A few years ago we started to compare it to the 1/25 kit to see where the windshield needed to be reworked. We found that it's NOT JUST the windshield that's off,, it's the whole body from the windshield back with possibly the doors being a bit too long also. Like I said, it's been years so exact details are a bit foggy. The roof is too far back, which makes the 1/4 panels and the trunk area off. As far as we could see, it would take way too much work to put it right and he put it back in it's box instead. -
Keith might print them in gold. He has printed his decals in custom color combos for me before.
-
Yes, It started out as the '75 and was updated to the '76 and then the '77. THEN, Mid-year 1977 MPC modified it into the '77 Nova. Which was in turn issued as a '78 and then modified into the '79.
-
David, it's the AMT Nova that had the wonkey roof and trunk lines. This is the MPC annual kit,, completely different kit. The MPC Nova bodys are dead on to the 1/1 '79 coupe I owned.
-
I really miss my '79 Nova coupe. Very plain car, not even a light in the glove box but it did have all the suspension goodies and a strong strait 6. An odd combination but it handled as well and was almost as fast as my Trans Am. No options except power steering means relatively light weight. Anyway, I liked it. and Adam, pay no mind to our friend with no concept of sarcasm. A new guy who seems to want to show how much more he knows than we do.
