well, here's the only surviving pic of my Riv. Those old 110 cameras kinda sucked. Anyway, the lenses in the signal lights in the front bumper were clear with amber bulbs. Side marker lights were also clear lenses with amber bulbs for the signal/marker lights and clear bulbs for the cornering lights. [this was an option] You really couldn't see any amber in them unless the amber bulbs were on.

I used to own a real '69 Riv in another lifetime. The body of the AMT kit is 100% dead on. That said, I doubt Frank will like it as it's a simple '60s era kit. ,, Me?, I love it. This is the only one I have built right now. This is how I wanted my 1/1 to look [minus the wheels that didn't exist back in the '80s] But, whoever gets one, PLEASE, don't paint the front signal lights and cornering lights amber like on the box of the last couple reissues of the kit, that's just wrong.

The "Flameout" is one of my only true "grails". I've wanted one ever since I seen the box art a couple decades ago.

There are literally hundreds of "real" batmobiles. Everything from almost stock Corvettes and Mustangs to treaded tanks to weird flying thingies. Here's a link to a site I ran across a few years ago documenting all versions from the comics, movies and TV. http://www.batmobilehistory.com/index.php

PLEASE HELP IDENTIFY THESE WHEELS
Can-Con replied to fseva's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Walmart cheepo hubcaps. ,,, No, seriously. -
I just airbrushed it on with a dark blue acrylic then cleared the whole thing with some Tamiya clear tinted with a drop or two of clear blue and green. Then I polished it out like I would any other paintjob. Thanks everyone for the kind comments on this old girl.

It's a mix of House of Color candys. red and tangerine [with a bit of root beer IIRC] shot over a gold base. The interior is good old Testors mixed from flat and gloss white with a drop or two of wood to give it a slight beige tint.

Tom, I'm afraid I don't have any left and the mold is too old to use any more. This build is about 10 years old. Sorry. The front end came with the MCG '69 Chevelle/Beaumont set though so there's at least that.

1959 Plymouth Fury, Update, 6/6, Finished!
Can-Con replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Steve, I worked out an easier way to do upholstery pattern a few years ago that would have worked pretty good on this one for you. Simply put a piece of fine screen against a sheet of clear decal paper and spray it with your color and apply it as a regular decal after it dries. -
Sorry guys, just pulling your legs, I know what was meant. Thing is, a lot of people think a Beaumont [or Acadian} is a "Canadian Chevelle", which is is not. We had 2 plants making Chevelles here in Canada and aside from the ID plate on the cowl saying "Made in Canada" I doubt anyone could tell the difference. Here's a pic of my uncle Arnold's '66 300 sedan. it was made in Canada and as you can see, looks just like a U.S. made 300 sedan. It would me more correct to say a Beaumont is a "Canadian Tempest" or LeMans as even though there's nothing officially saying they were Pontiacs on the cars or any official paperwork associated with the cars, they filled the mid-size Pontiac notch at the dealerships in Canada until 1970 model year when actual Lemans were available.

Don't know what you mean there Mike. There was no US version of the Beaumont that I know of but I understand a few were built in South America.

I built this car about 10 years ago so some may be familiar with it but with the Chevelle kit I based it on being reissued I thought I'd repost it. The body is from the '70s "countdown series" issue of the kit. The front grille and header between the hood and grille came with the MCG photoetch kit as did all the script and some small details. I made the taillights myself and cast them in resin. I also modified the kit hood to be the standard flat hood. I used the dash from the Monogram '69 GTO as Beaumonts used Pontiac dashes. Even though the kit is 1/25 and the dash is supposed to be 1/24, it was almost the right size and a touch narrow, needed shims to fit the interior bucket. I also cast copies of the GTO arm rests for the door panels. The kit seats were a bit bland so I cut the sew pattern from one and grafted it into a seat from the AMY '68 elCamino and cast a couple copies of it. I used the chassis from the AMT '69 Olds 442 under it with the Pontiac Rally II wheels from the 1st issue of the Monogram '39 Chevy sedan delivery. A bit large but I was going for a "17 look. I cut the inner wheelwells from the chassis and used the underhood area from the '69 elCamino as some of the the Chevy and Olds underhood details are not the same. IIRC, the Elky firewall was set up with A/C details so I sanded them off the added a standard heater box. A/C was an extremely rare option on Beaumonts . The engine was a 454 I had left over from a '70 Monte Carlo I had built earlier. I added "BEAUMONT" script and a couple fins to the valve covers and made a modern TPI unit for it modified from the one in the AMT '70 Chevelle kit. I think that about covers is but if there's any questions, please ask.

You could graft the front part of the Elky or M.C. frame to the Chevelle chassis plate if the frame rails line up. IIRC, I used the M.C.s engine in my Beaumont with the underhood sheetmetal from the Elky. I'll post up the Beaumont in the under glass section for you Scott and I'll explain about what I did for the conversion and adding detail to the kit.

This is how I dealt with the taillight issue.

Hit songs that are actually covers (that nobody knows are covers)
Can-Con replied to Harry P.'s topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Most people will know the song "I go blind" as a Hootie & the Blowfish song but it's from the self-titled album of 54-40 9 years earlier. "The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead" from the movie "Dumb and Dumber" was done by the Crash Test Dummies but was originally done by brit new wave band XTC. And Rascal Flatts did "Life Is a Highway" for the movie "Cars" ,, Originally a Tom Cochrane hit that spent many weeks at 1# in Canada. -
Poor. The wheelbase is longer. So is the wheelbase of the '67 mentioned in an earlier post.

Just mounted the engine, box and cab this afternoon. Starting to look like a truck. The roll bar will be black semigloss. I'll make a matching grille bar for the front and mount some lights to them. I know the engine is the wrong colors for a stock truck but I never said it was stock anyway, right. The air cleaner is from the '74 RoadRunner kit.

I'd think an original release would indeed have less "wear" but the kit in your pic is over 20 years later than the original. In all honesty, from your other posts that I've read, I doubt you'll like this kit.

If you know the convertible, this is exactly the same kit with a hardtop body and without the new tires.
