  1. I've never tried posting directly from my computer before. Thanks for explaining it guys. BTW, this is the pic I use for my avatar on the music sites I belong to. I took it a couple years ago and it was not staged. This was taken along a side road to a lake I was working at. The deck caught the corner of my eye as I was driving by. It was about 20 feet from the road. looks like it was there for a while. No, I didn't take it with me, I left the scene undisturbed. Looked too cool to touch. ?
  2. That was definitely changed since I had looked at it James. It did say 1994, not '74 and the kits with the Rolls custom Beetle weren't even on the page.
  3. It was reissued in '74 according to the Dave's Showrod Rallye page on the kit. It doesn't mention any later reissues. Don't believe it was reissued after that. Anyone can go on Scalemates and edit the content. Heck, I could go on there and say it was reissued in 2020 in purple and green swirl plastic complete with resin figures of Tom Daniel and Mickey Mouse and no one would correct it and it would be repeated all over the internet for the next 50 years as truth. ? http://www.showrods.com/showrod_pages/muscle_bug.html
  4. In the mail. LOL ? But, I did tell you in the first response to your post I was having some made up. They didn't cost that much to have made and I'm sure STS could easily do up a sheet for you. https://stsdecals.com/
  5. Interior is mostly done. I still need to add a shifter handle. and I think I'll add the brake, gas and clutch pedals. Also strongly considering adding a 4-point roll bar and maybe seatbelts???
  6. Had some decals custom made up by STS in anticipation of future projects. Missing from this sheet are black, white and light aqua sets that were somehow left off the sheet.
  7. Yup. I've been doing this for over 50 years and still can't do what Steve does, probably never will be able to either. Steve is like a 5th degree black belt building model cars, that didn't happen overnight. It's like everything else. To be really good it takes practice and dedication, no shortcuts in learning any skills.
  8. Here's a link to the brochure for the '68 Chevelles. It shows the SS with the black wheel and instrument panel and the Malibu and Concours with different colored wheels and panel. BUT these details sometimes change during a production run or if certain parts were out of stock. That's why they sometimes ended up with Buick or Pontiac seats from the factory. http://oldcarbrochures.org/United States/Chevrolet/1968-Chevrolet/1968-Chevrolet-Chevelle-Brochure-Rev/index.html
  9. Here's another video, looks even more impressive.
  10. For those who haven't heard of this, there's several videos on YouTube showing people soaking old plastic parts in various peroxide solutions to bring them back to white from that dirty beige plastic turns with time.
  11. That's unfortunate. I was hoping you had found a good single headlight grille for the kit. The one in the old ambulance kits was awful, no where near correct. I know a lot of people would like to have the base model grille for commercial style builds.
  12. So, you didn't know the whole front end including the fenders and hood were completely different, not just the grille and bumper, Mike? I seen your post about getting an older grille for it and wondered about that as the grille in the kit was the same as the first year of the makeover. Thought you might have found a single headlight base model grille for it.
  13. Yup, looks like '72-'77 birch green ???
  14. Check out the Didspade colors they have too. Looks comparable to the HOK stuff but 4 bucks less per bottle. I've never had a chance to try the stuff though.
  15. Scale Finishes carries some HOK pre-thinned airbrush paints but man, they're kinda expensive. $14.99 for a 2oz bottle.
  16. Looks great Rooster but that's an '80, not a '78. ?
  17. Well, please keep us posted. Interested to know how they are quality wise.
  18. Try STS Decals. They custom make decals. They're making a sheet up for me right now. https://stsdecals.com/
  19. James, this website may be of some help. At least it's interesting. If you put in the year and model it will show you all the colors thay came in that year. You can also narrow it down more if you like. After you do that you can klik on the color and it will show pics of Porsches in that color. I have ran across a couple colors they don't have pics for but very few. https://www.rennbow.org/colorwiki
  20. I've never built one. I don't personally think it' s a particularly attractive car but I've always thought it was a reasonably good kit considering it was tooled up 50 years ago. If you think that's "trash" compare it with some of the stuff Revell was putting out at that time.
  21. No, sorry Les. None of those Buttera kits had separate doors. They did have separate inner door panels though. [IIRC you call them "door cards" across the pond. ?]
  22. Maybe you should move to Canada, Bill. We have maple cookies. ??
  23. The Monogram Monte Carlo SS kits have a really nice Quadrajet. They also have the TPI setup so you still have a complete engine in the kit if you pirate the carb intake setup
  24. I have the Targa sister kit so I'll be following. One thing, if it's like the Targa, watch those wheels and tires. The rears are slightly bigger then the fronts. I found this out the hard way when I noticed my kit has 3 of one and only one of the other. ?
  25. Like I said, Doug, I'm not that much up on those engines. Just saying what I would do to make it look right to me. This is what the engine looks like with the valve covers on. They look like B-block covers to me, definitely not A-block covers or heads with their distinctive saw-tooth lower side. I know the thing is neither fish, not fowl but, any ideas what else to do with it besides completely replacing it to make it look presentable?
