I remember building some of the Manx kits with side pods.

Something in a bigger sized metal flake perhaps? Helped build a few of these way back in another lifetime. We also had molds and made several different style bodies. I remember we had 30 gallon fiberboard barrels full of flake in silver, gold, blue, red and green to use in the finish.

A friend in high school inherited his mom's 65 Impala 4 door. It was a 409 4 speed car they had ordered new to pull a 35 foot boat. Best yet in Evening Orchid with a white interior! He still has it but buried in pole barn.

Going with the TV based color. It is my grandson's favorite TV series. His dad commissioned me for this job. Think I'll pick one up for myself and maybe do a showroom stock with Rally wheels and maybe try my hand at doing a vinyl roof. Back in the day used to pick nice looking 67's up from backyards dirt cheap. All most needed was a new cam. Then sell them to the used car lots for a decent profit. We found one that was a 4 door with a 4 speed!

My oldest sister had a huge crush on him and bought everything he recorded!

About 6 hours over three days. Now wait for nice weather to paint the body along with several other wip's. Building this for my grandson in the Navy. He won't get it for about 9 months after he gets back from deployment on the USS Tripoli.

Any Kits With Taillights Like These?

Thanks Chris! Lots of good ideas there. -
I don't know about the fitment but the Revell 69 Dodge Dart has a well detailed chassis and engine.

Looks good as is. Has that fleet truck look. Bought for service, not show!

Like so many others in the industry, just couldn't get that monkey off his back. Some times I wonder if the problem is maybe they really don't want it off. Have known a couple people that openly said they won't give up what they are hooked on because they like how they feel. Neither feel anything at all now.

Drove a lot of miles all over the country to his music. Songs like Old 30 encouraged me to jump off interstate ad drive the old two lane highways when ever I could.

My parts box! Seriously I can't remember what kits these were in. They have Good Year Blue Streak Special on the side wall

Those were the molded in gray plastic wheels in the AMT 62 Belair kits. I had used the ones from the old MPC 67 Charger kit on the original build.
-
I used 64 Impala buckets in the original build. These I believe are from a Corvair kit I had in the parts box. Close enough!
-
Just an idea of the stance. Made my own lift blocks just like I did on the original. Also built new air shocks for the rear.
-
Trying to match things from a model built 50 years ago is a pain! I used torque thust wheels from the 67 Charger kit making the ones for the rear wider. Rediculously wider! I used wheels from the 62 Belair kit because that is as close as I could get. Front tires are the same but the rears aren't. Had some really wide ties back then.

Thanks, that was what I was thinking. I remember year ago having bleed through on some builds leaving me painting it a color that matched the plastic. Seems all these with the colored metallic plastic either are or get brittle over time just like the clear bodies used to.

I'm in the process of replicating a build I did in our first apartment where I had to stand on the edge of the bathtub and spray paint out the bathroom window. Was the last one I built before I went to work for Uncle Sam. The original was one of two,big boxes of builds and kits stolen out of a u haul trailer when we were loading to move from Wisconsin in 1977. Going to be a real chore painting it red over this metalic blue plastic. It is also really brittle.

I'm in the middle of farm country living in a small farm town. We have two gas stations and neither sell E-85 because no one was buying it and it would go bad in their tanks! Got some E-85 at the only place in the bigger town where we go to shop that sells it. Got terrible mileage compared to regular gas.
