  1. Learned to drive in grandpa's 1954 Chevy Belair with a Powerglide trans. He would let me move it from the street into the yard to wash it and then let me drive back roads when we went fishing. I was driving my self to school every day freshman and sophomore years before I had a license. When I got the behind the wheel part of drivers ed I drove a few locks when he had me stop and get in the back and never drove the rest of the class. He said I didn't need the training as he had seen me driving to school every day already and figured if I had not been stopped for it by now I must already be good enough.. Learned to drive a stick shift in a 1950's grain truck when I was around 11-12 years old while working for a local farmer in the summers. He had to block the pedals so I could reach them!
  2. A little more work done on the trailer. Could used a third hand trying to get this thing together straight! Finally got the box done and ready for paint as soon as it gets warm enough. Went ahead and glued the doors shut after several tries to get them to work right.
  3. Starting on the Lindberg bax trailer for it. What a pain with loads of flash and warped panels.. Got the axle assembly done glued bed halves and side panels together. Will assemble the box and paint as a unit.
  4. I figure I have more important things to do than worry about what will happen to inanimate things after I'm gone. Like living for today and enjoying each new one I am allowed to have! What happens after I'm gone I will never know any way. Told my wife "no funeral" they can have a family and friend get together after I'm gone. Told her I want a cheap burial at sea and when asked I told her just dump my ashes in the commode and flush and I'll eventually get there!?
  5. Looks great so far! Looking forward to seeing this build!
  6. Wife surprised me with this today. Going to use the tank trailer behind a White 3000 conversion.
  7. Haven't really decided but one will be white but still undecided on the second color. Going to pair it up with the old Lindberg box trailer.
  8. I finally got it all off with an exacto blade and some sanding. The small chrome pieces looked like chrome blobs because the varnish was so thick under the plating.
  9. The outfits nuns wear varies according to their order and the type of vows they took when they entered monastic life. Complete habits are only worn by nuns who take full vows in the more conservative orders; other orders allow for abbreviated habits or more conventional forms of dress, and women who take the simple vows (technically called sisters of the order rather than nuns), may not wear any distinguishing garments at all.
  10. A little more done on the truck.
  11. I'm still a tube glue user and probably always will be! Just picked up a two pack of Testors from Hobby Lobby. day before yesterday.
  12. No airbrush here. No real place to use it the last several places we lived. Just step out the back door, make sure the neighbor lady don't have her windows open and start spraying!(weather permitting) Last place we had a carport with our mobile home that worked great, now we are in 55 and up apartment complex so I'm limited of my outside paint booth!LOL
  13. I have had success using a new blade with a good point. The thick stuff has pretty much popped out/off and where possible flat blade scraping seems to be getting the rest. But what a pain it is!LOL
  14. Chrome parts from the Ford C600 and the chrome was gone in a couple hours but after a week the varnish still is hanging on! Changed the solvent after 3 days and scrubbed the parts before re-soaking.
  15. Before I started truck driving I worked for Wyenberg Shoes in Portage Wi. All their machines were Singer. I did maintenance and mechanic work on them. Everything there was still 40's and 50's era. About 10 years ago I donated all my repair manuals to the local library.
  16. First thing I remembered him in was Billy Jack.
  17. Been trying to save up for a couple more but the doctor keeps getting all my extra money I manage to save!LOL
  18. Have Carney cases on the wall that hold 24 cars each. On top are some AMT cases . On the desk are old Johan cases. Have about 24 more of the Johans that I need to polish before using them again. Also have about 12 of the Lindberg chrome bottomed cases with Nascars in them still stored away.
  19. That is awesome! How did you do the air intake vents on the sides of the cab?
  20. These are what I use not including drill bits.
  21. I've seen three in my lifetime. Two when we lived in Wisconsin. One of those while hunting, maybe a 10 or 12 point buck. My wife's step-grandpa got mad when I wouldn't shoot it!LOL The third one was out of town at a state park. Coming into town saw it feeding in a corn field near the tree line. Looked to be a yearling. It made the local news the next day but a couple days later it had tried to cross the road at a bridge and a car hit it.
  22. I have an Ampex 4 track recorder floating around somewhere. Used it in the late 60's with a band I was in and again in the 80's when I was doing occasional session work and filling in with oldie rock and country bands in the area. Later in the late 1990's and early to mid 2000's my sons used it with their band. They would record in my son's garage and later one of the guys would transfer it to digital.
  23. Can you give more detail on how you lengthened the frame?
  24. I ordered the 10.00-20 tires and they sent the 11.00-22 tires. Still waiting for a reply from the seller. So far all my old kits have wheels too small for these.
  25. Got the AMT Ertl stake bed that has the C-900 parts and that is what I am going to build. Kit has one bad tire that I'll have to replace if I can find one the same size. Have a set of the AMT Big Rig tires on the way so maybe I'll use them instead. Have the chrome parts soaking in the purple pond, the chrome was gone in about 2 hours but after 3 days the varnish was still clinging on to the parts so back to soak some more!
