  1. My brother-in-law was there for basic and tech in 1972. Went in on Sept, 27th 1972 and stayed for 24 years!
  2. They can keep a load of ice cream at a constant -40 from Wi. to Ca.. and when the guy forgets to reset the temp and hauls a load of roma tomatoes from Ca. to IL. you have to see the results to believe it!LOL No, it wasn't me either!LOL
  3. Coors was cold brewed so it was one of the few major brands that wasn’t pasteurized making it very perishable so the need for reefer trailers to haul it and had to be refrigerated at the distributor and store.. It being so time sensitive was the real reason it wasn't shipped east of the Mississippi for a long time, until they changed how it was made. Doggone it, just when I'm trying to reduce the number of kits to build they put out another that I will have to buy!LOL
  4. Working on the bed and accessories. Used hemp cord from Dollar General for cable. Trying to male the jack look more presentable. Cut along the lift arm and dished the pad a little.
  5. Thanks David! I put this on hold for way too long and finally decided good or bad to get it done this time around. Working on all the wrecker hardware and boy is there a lot to clean up on it!LOL
  6. I do know that by the time I realized it I couldn't change it.LOL
  7. 1963 and the weather guy on the local radio station said "it's a beautiful sunny day with not a drop of rain in sight" just before the radio station went off the air as the tornado took down their tower crossed the river and did some major destruction through town and to a local college!
  8. My Great Uncle, Lost February 27 1942 USS Langley, He was 20 years old. The day before they got the word my grandma,(his big sister) and his mother (my great grandma) saw him marching with his graduating class at Great Lakes on a news reel at the movies.
  9. As hard as I am trying not to buy new kits I'd be all in for the camper version! I owned one for a couple years unthe wife was dtil it had an engine compartment fire while the wife was driving the kids to school.
  10. Foiled the grill. Far from perfect but the foil is terrible to work with now.
  11. Love it! One of my favorite trucks, even owned one once in another lifetime!LOL Like the paint scheme. I have one to build and I think one thing that I will do is strip the chrome on the wipers and use chrome silver or aluminum paint and hopefully that will make them look more realistic.
  12. Bed floor, header and rear panel ready for primer and finish. Narrowed the hood, grill and working on the fender extensions.
  13. Pulled an old build I started and hadn't touched in almost 20 years. Just narrowed the wrecker bed snd I am making faux toolboxes to fill the void under the bed using poster board. Then need to finish the job of the narrowed hood I started on 20 years ago. Need to,make shutter flaps. Maybe a piece of a mimi blind will work for that. Hard part is a filler between hood and fenders.
  14. I had this information stashed away but seems to have gotten lost in our move. How much needs to be removed from the wrecker bed to fit correctly so the wheels aren't tucked so far in.
  15. Looks like he's trying to go back to the future!
  16. Over a 20 year period I worked on them on an off for a foreign car repair shop that specialized in VW's. We restored a bunch. When production stopped in Germany they kept building them for a while in Mexico. What a strange bunch of cars those were as they used parts from the late 60's through the end of the run! Like they were using up all the leftover parts from years past!LOL
  17. The one pictured is a sedan modified into a convertible and is a Super Beetle. They first appeared in 1970-71 and still used the flat windshield. In 73 the super beetle went to the curved windshield to meet safety standards dealing with the distance between the driver and the windshield.
  18. Back to the dentist this afternoon because the one bad tooth he didn't pull has been aching all weekend!
  19. I say leave it rest. Don't think it would survive being brought up.
  20. Our daughter who is now 50 hasn't talked to us in over three years, has substance abuse problems and we are to blame according to her. Our three sons are all doing good, the oldest finally got his life together in the last 7 years. The youngest two (twins have pretty much worked for the same company since high school graduation in 1999 doing interior trim work. One is a supervisor now. This week is always rough for us tough as it is the week we lost Isaac,(my avatar picture) our grandson in 2015, the day before Father's Day. His Mom's birthday was days before.
  21. A big car hauler semi pulled up in front of my son's house today and left this little gem!
  22. Just picked this up at the Post Office!
