What did you see on the road today?
OldTrucker replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice old Ford ! Loved those years! We had a neighbor who worked in the Ford Dealer body shop back then and I remember him sowing my grandpa how they would trade out grills and other trim items to upgrade leftover trucks to the next model year! Said Ford wouldn't issue a title for them until they were sold so that they could do that! -

My wife saw it first because I was looking for a parking spot at the clinic. Looks to maybe be a 68. Anyone up to doing it based on a Moebius kit? LOL -
My dad and two of my uncles were in England. One was a flight mechanic patching them up for the next mission but dad and Jim flew. Dad a co-pilot and Jim a ball turret gunner. Never knew my dad, lost him in Korea but my uncle Jim's plane was shot down on his 8th mission but he made it out after they crash landed as he said "in good shape seeing I only lost half a leg and one eye!" He was a card! He called them little black flowers that bloomed in the sky.

Day after our 51st anniversary (today) we had a planned get together at our sons. Just thought it was a normal get together but turned sort of an anniversary celebration but it had a twist! One of our grandsons came up. He just recently left the military came up to visit his dad (our oldest son) along with his wife to be. They came out to the get together and when we opened their card inside was a sonogram of our soon to be 1st great grand baby!

Trying to paint some small parts last few days and if I grip anything between my index finger and thumb of my left hand I get a constant rhythmic twitch. Have to clamp in in something and hold it with my whole fist or tack it to a piece of sprue and stick it in a styrafoam block.?

Nice job John! Love the color too! I built this car a long long time ago. I just stared at the kit for a long time afraid it would just turn out a mess if I tried to build it but once started found it wasn't as bad as anticipated to build! Built mine long before I ever tried bare metal foil so the trim is hand painted like a lot of my older builds.

1/25 AMT 1249 40 Foot Great Dane Reefer Trailer
OldTrucker replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Coors was cold brewed so it was one of the few major brands that wasn’t pasteurized making it very perishable so the need for reefer trailers to haul it and had to be refrigerated at the distributor and store.. It being so time sensitive was the real reason it wasn't shipped east of the Mississippi for a long time, until they changed how it was made. Doggone it, just when I'm trying to reduce the number of kits to build they put out another that I will have to buy!LOL- 31 replies

AMT Peterbuilt Wrecker
OldTrucker replied to OldTrucker's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Working on the bed and accessories. Used hemp cord from Dollar General for cable. Trying to male the jack look more presentable. Cut along the lift arm and dished the pad a little. -

I wanna grow up and be a weatherperson.......
OldTrucker replied to HomerS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
1963 and the weather guy on the local radio station said "it's a beautiful sunny day with not a drop of rain in sight" just before the radio station went off the air as the tornado took down their tower crossed the river and did some major destruction through town and to a local college! -
My Great Uncle, Lost February 27 1942 USS Langley, He was 20 years old. The day before they got the word my grandma,(his big sister) and his mother (my great grandma) saw him marching with his graduating class at Great Lakes on a news reel at the movies.

Bed floor, header and rear panel ready for primer and finish. Narrowed the hood, grill and working on the fender extensions. -
Pulled an old build I started and hadn't touched in almost 20 years. Just narrowed the wrecker bed snd I am making faux toolboxes to fill the void under the bed using poster board. Then need to finish the job of the narrowed hood I started on 20 years ago. Need to,make shutter flaps. Maybe a piece of a mimi blind will work for that. Hard part is a filler between hood and fenders.
