  1. Testors 1133 light brown Had half a bottle that must have been 15 years old and was still not dried up, just thick. Added almost an equal amount of thinner and taped it to the blade of a sabre saw and let it run a while!
  2. Nice looking Fairlane! I do the same for the quarter windows when I add them!
  3. That is sweet looking! Takes me back to simpler times with cool looking cars!
  4. This was the old Woodstock kit. Been on the bench for over a month as I tried to get things to fit and dealt with a lot of flash! Had the hood hinges working until one of my granddaughters decided to try and look under the hood by herself! Now it is glued together in one piece but is removable at least! I jumped the gun and forgot to paint the hinges and hinge plates on the tailgate.
  5. I have an opened original release kit in the closet that I scored on ebay in 2005 for 25 bucks to the door! Pulled a few of the 1:1's from Chicago to up around the Detroit area in the early 90's!
  6. How did you do the taillights? I have this one on the build list except mine (1:1) was a 66 Lemans 2dr sedan with a 389 4speed.
  7. I'd say his wife was the real bread winner as she was the chief loan officer at the biggest bank in town!
  8. From what I have heard from an old friend that had flown in that plane it was restored before and then wound up being left sitting for decades afterwards to get into the state it was in before this restoration.
  9. Love the look! Great build!
  10. I remembered one like this on the dealer's lot.
  11. Tried to replicate my 8th Grade Science Teacher's Riviera. He had 2 His was this color or close to it and his wife's was green!
  12. I clean mine off after each build. If I do it during a build I will always lose parts! Problem is it is the same place we also do our bill paying and book keeping! It's a mess!!!
  13. Went to Hobby Lobby today and there was a guy pulling all the Revell kits and putting them in his cart! He got mad when I picked up the last Black Widow kit before he could get it! He already had two but this one was on top of the shelf turned sideways. He was trying to buy them each as a separate sale using the 40% off coupons saying he was buying for other people but the manager wasn't buying his story! Was still arguing when we were leaving! LOL
  14. aside from those pictured you also had the regular rally wheels and the stamped steel 5 spoke wheel that was on the Z28. I imagine you could get any as an option. Had a neighbor that bought a base model Camaro with inline 6 and three speed manual trans and had the Z28 5 spoke wheels and Goodyear white letter tires..
  15. My Grandson was in the run at Ft Leonard Wood Thursday. With the help of a big magnifying glass we were able to spot him in the video he posted! He is a Combat Engineer.(recently graduated) He is stuck there while he awaits orders.
  16. Wife picked up the Revell Bronco and 64 Thunderbolt kits for me for Father's Day today at Hobby Lobby! The checker let her make two purchases using coupons!
  17. A set of bigs and littles would be a seller!
  18. Research is the key to building. While I will have a general idea of what I want to do I always hit the net and look for the cars that I will be building. It helps with details that are easily missed that are relatively easy to do and make for a better build. Especially if you are looking for specific color options and engine options of a particular car. I've been building for over 50 years and I'm still learning new things all the time!
  19. I like seeing these old cars built in their stock form! Great build and even better with the added detail!
  20. Always referred to my 1:1 as "Big Bird"! Fantastic job on this kit! Sure miss seeing these cars on the road! They had real class!
  21. I built this kit straight out of the box. I like your way WAAAAAAAY better than mine! I have never seen that kit built better!
  22. Looking good but I would suggest slowing down a little. Take your time and start adding a little more detail as you go. You do not gain experience going fast, you gain it by taking you time and doing it right! Like painting the blower drive belt flat black and maybe adding some black to the header openings and maybe even drill them out a bit for realism. Also try scuffing the tire tread surfaces for a more real "used" look! Simple things! Not being critical as it is a really nice looking build! We all had to start somewhere. My first builds were the old screw bottom promo type kits that I just put together without any paint! So you are way ahead of where I was at 3.5 kits done! Just some simple suggestions that go a long way to a better looking model. Keep on building! It's not just a hobby, it's an addiction!
  23. The seats came out of the 72 GTO kit
  24. Doc said no pancreatitis!
  25. Would have been better suited if they used the 13" tires from the Corvair kit. (which were closer to what the cars came with) But I imagine they had the wheels tooled up to fit the already existing Goodyears so that they would have that wide, white letter tire look.
