  1. Just think! If Jeep would have done this from the factory there might not be so many in the bone yards with rusted frames!
  2. I haven't been in a Toys R Us since they stopped selling plastic.
  3. and the 400 small blocks had overheating issues which led to a lot of cracked heads! I remember sorting through about 30 to find a rebuildable pair!
  4. I have met him several times and he is the real deal just the man you see here! First time I met him was in the days when his crew would give back their paychecks to help get to the next race! How's that for a dedicated crew! Says a lot about the man. Seen him take time a lot for the kids that would be there too! Definitely from the "old school" or racers!
  5. Once in a great while if i get several kits going at the same time. Otherwise I like to mix it up. Just finished the old woody and now working on this horrible 72 GTO!
  6. Just an .030 bore brought the 396 to 402 but to not shake up the gearheads they continued to call it a 396 in lighter cars, 402 in the trucks and Turbo Jet 400 in the full size cars!
  7. Beautiful 54 wagon Bob! Traveled old66 a lot as a kid here in Illinois and in Missouri! You saw the giant astronaut in Wilmington then!, Lived within a half hour drive from 66 most of my life!
  8. Sweet looking woody!
  9. I remember building the mile high kit when it was first released! Built it just like on the box!
  10. I worked on VW's on and off over 20 years. It is still a mixed bag given the taillights and the engine that didn't appear until the 70s. It reminds me of what was being built in Mexico after European production ended on the Beetle.
  11. Definitely a different look!
  12. They were but everything was so wrapped I had to glue them in place to make everything line up and fit. I should have removed the external hinges to make it correct but did not think about it until too late.
  13. No clearance here and the girl said not to expect any any time soon. Still picked up the "not so 68" Volkswagen kit though! Though a mixed up year kit it is still a nice one.
  14. I like it!!! Great save! I like these kinds of posts!
  15. Testors 1133 light brown Had half a bottle that must have been 15 years old and was still not dried up, just thick. Added almost an equal amount of thinner and taped it to the blade of a sabre saw and let it run a while!
  16. Nice looking Fairlane! I do the same for the quarter windows when I add them!
  17. That is sweet looking! Takes me back to simpler times with cool looking cars!
  18. This was the old Woodstock kit. Been on the bench for over a month as I tried to get things to fit and dealt with a lot of flash! Had the hood hinges working until one of my granddaughters decided to try and look under the hood by herself! Now it is glued together in one piece but is removable at least! I jumped the gun and forgot to paint the hinges and hinge plates on the tailgate.
  19. I have an opened original release kit in the closet that I scored on ebay in 2005 for 25 bucks to the door! Pulled a few of the 1:1's from Chicago to up around the Detroit area in the early 90's!
  20. How did you do the taillights? I have this one on the build list except mine (1:1) was a 66 Lemans 2dr sedan with a 389 4speed.
  21. I'd say his wife was the real bread winner as she was the chief loan officer at the biggest bank in town!
  22. From what I have heard from an old friend that had flown in that plane it was restored before and then wound up being left sitting for decades afterwards to get into the state it was in before this restoration.
  23. Love the look! Great build!
  24. I remembered one like this on the dealer's lot.
