Wow,my work area is a mess.

I clean mine off after each build. If I do it during a build I will always lose parts! Problem is it is the same place we also do our bill paying and book keeping! It's a mess!!! -
Went to Hobby Lobby today and there was a guy pulling all the Revell kits and putting them in his cart! He got mad when I picked up the last Black Widow kit before he could get it! He already had two but this one was on top of the shelf turned sideways. He was trying to buy them each as a separate sale using the 40% off coupons saying he was buying for other people but the manager wasn't buying his story! Was still arguing when we were leaving! LOL

70/1 Camaro wheel question
OldTrucker replied to br67's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
aside from those pictured you also had the regular rally wheels and the stamped steel 5 spoke wheel that was on the Z28. I imagine you could get any as an option. Had a neighbor that bought a base model Camaro with inline 6 and three speed manual trans and had the Z28 5 spoke wheels and Goodyear white letter tires.. -
My Grandson was in the run at Ft Leonard Wood Thursday. With the help of a big magnifying glass we were able to spot him in the video he posted! He is a Combat Engineer.(recently graduated) He is stuck there while he awaits orders.

Wife picked up the Revell Bronco and 64 Thunderbolt kits for me for Father's Day today at Hobby Lobby! The checker let her make two purchases using coupons!

Research is the key to building. While I will have a general idea of what I want to do I always hit the net and look for the cars that I will be building. It helps with details that are easily missed that are relatively easy to do and make for a better build. Especially if you are looking for specific color options and engine options of a particular car. I've been building for over 50 years and I'm still learning new things all the time!

I like seeing these old cars built in their stock form! Great build and even better with the added detail!
-
Always referred to my 1:1 as "Big Bird"! Fantastic job on this kit! Sure miss seeing these cars on the road! They had real class!
-
I built this kit straight out of the box. I like your way WAAAAAAAY better than mine! I have never seen that kit built better!

Looking good but I would suggest slowing down a little. Take your time and start adding a little more detail as you go. You do not gain experience going fast, you gain it by taking you time and doing it right! Like painting the blower drive belt flat black and maybe adding some black to the header openings and maybe even drill them out a bit for realism. Also try scuffing the tire tread surfaces for a more real "used" look! Simple things! Not being critical as it is a really nice looking build! We all had to start somewhere. My first builds were the old screw bottom promo type kits that I just put together without any paint! So you are way ahead of where I was at 3.5 kits done! Just some simple suggestions that go a long way to a better looking model. Keep on building! It's not just a hobby, it's an addiction!

The seats came out of the 72 GTO kit

Would have been better suited if they used the 13" tires from the Corvair kit. (which were closer to what the cars came with) But I imagine they had the wheels tooled up to fit the already existing Goodyears so that they would have that wide, white letter tire look.

My father-in-law is irked that I did and that's after 48 years come July 30th! I'm starting to get the feeling that he may never get to like me!

I lost a great uncle at Omaha Beach. First wave in. Had several other family members that survived D Day but not without some degree of sacrifice. My Great Grandma's second husband was wheel chair bound as a result of machine gun fire. He passed when I was 5 or 6 a result of war wounds. I was a visitor at the local Veteran's Home for about 15 years and had made many friends there mostly WWII and Korean War Vets. The ones I visited the most and had a close friendship to have all went on to join their Brothers-In_arms now and it finally wore on me so much that I had to stop going.

Built this out of the parts box some time ago. Had a broken Lindberg 34 body and bed and a Revell 29 chassis and the flathead out of the AMT 53 F100 kit. Seat was from a 53 Studebaker! Gas tank was a tool box. I just like doing these builds. Seem to get more satisfaction than an out of box build when done!

Just don't set something hot on it . My wife set a bowl of chili on the edge of mine and it left a hump in it!

My son and daughter-in-law and granddaughter are big star wars fans. Their little one fell asleep about 20 minutes into it and they left about half way through. Said they are done with it if this is an example of what's to come now!
