  1. Oh yeah! I remember being pulled over just in front of the speed shop down town by the tricycle cop. I argued with him that I did not have an illegal exhaust system while he dug out the ole code book to show me. Then he asked why I thought mt system wasn't illegal and I pointed out that I could not have an illegal system because I didn't HAVE an exhaust system! He got mad and left without even the customary warning/fix-it ticket! Went inside and bought two Thrush header mufflers and put them on at the curb!
  2. What a great conversion!
  3. Ready for that Saturday Night cruise on down to the local drive-in for a burger fries and coke with your best gal slid over in the seat next to ya!
  4. It DOES look real! Just the right touch to make it look like a well cared for daily driver! Great build of a cool car!
  5. Nice "Land Yacht" build!!!
  6. That is a thing of beauty!!! "Quicky" build??? I couldn't match that if I had a year to do it!!!
  7. I was familiar with the couple songs that got air play on the radio but nothing about the album they came from until 1972 while sitting in a rainy place far far from home with most of a bottle of Jack in me. as a rule that would have meant I wouldn't remember much of that day but for some reason it stuck in my head. Bought the album in a discount bin ($1.99) at K Mart when they were closing out all the vinyl.
  8. That was what we discovered after doing them. The original plan was to remove just one side door and leave a back seat but the customer wanted both doors removed. Then the one the boss did (with the Porsche engine) for the shop he decided that it was easier to do the same because he didn't want a side door and it was more body work to weld the door up. In my opinion while cool looking it became an accident waiting to happen!
  9. Yes the decals came from the last issue of the Avanti!
  10. I have the wheels from the Monte SS kit. No backs and only 2 of the Goodyear GT Radial tires.
  11. Did this one just to save the old kit. Hinges got broke, one side door got lost so decided to make a custom. Helped build 2 1:1 VW Buses like this back years ago. They were really squirrley to drive too! Especially the one with the Porsche 6 on board!
  12. That is a great color on the SS Camino's! Something about them in white just grabs you! But then I'm a sucker for any Elcamino. I've owned 2. A 59 and a 77!
  13. Built this back in the early 90's. Nothing else to do in a Colorado town with the population of 200! (if you count dogs cats and rats LOL)
  14. Built from a discarded pile of parts from one of my sons.
  15. Pretty much out of box other than putting in some different seats!
  16. Thanks Bill. I believe it was a Pyro seeing it was early 60's.
  17. I had one as a kid and it was above my pay grade at the time. (1960's) I don't remember who made it but do know it was 1/24 or 1/25 scale. So now I need to know which one is a good one to build I'm sure they all have their faults but just want one that is build able and is a decent representation!
  18. I like it! Built one back when it was first out. One of many that were stolen back in the late 70's. Mine didn't come out that nice, especially the people!LOL I need to get this one again!
  19. I like it! Great companion for the Suburban! I drove one of those for a small company I worked for in High School delivering special order furniture cushions to Kreohler Furniture. They bought it used for 150 dollars. The shift tree was worn out and it would hang up between gears if you didn't handle it gently enough (and sometimes even if you did) which was embarrassing if it did it in traffic!
  20. Nice clean look basic build with just enough detailing to look great! The color and paint scheme really make it stand out!
  21. Just when you think you have seen it all, Chuck comes up with another use for the old Hudson!
  22. We had a family friend that talked about having sleepers like that when he first started driving truck. Said he spent many a night sleeping under the trailer. Then the owner suggested that they start team driving and thought maybe one driver could sleep while the other drove. (yeah, right! could you imagine?LOL) You can bet what the reaction was from the drivers! The owner conceded and bought new tractors with sleepers instead!
  23. I can remember using the tires from the modified stocker kit to get that look years ago! Eventually went back and put more realistick slicks on them. (after I grew up that is....my wife just said I still haven't! LOL)
  24. The wheels came from the AMT 72 GTO kit. I hand painted the lettering on the tires using acrylic craft paint and a round toothpick!
  25. The AMT kit. This wasn't an easy build and never expected this result. Had to untwist the body and then virtually assembled the kit with white glue as I made parts fit correctly. Body went into the purple pond multiple times as paint jobs failed but finally got it right. This was a "walk away from it" (I did many times) build I would never try this kit again but was pleasantly pleased how it did turn out.
