My wife's dad passed away at 4:20 this morning.
He fell and broke his hip Sunday and due to his age (85) and his health the only thing they could do was give him morphine for the pain.
He was already under hospice care so they just eased his over to the other side I guess.
He lived a good long life working until his health forced him to retire from lawn care and house painting at 79!
1954 Chevy's are one of my favorite cars!
My first car was a 1954 Belair 4 door. It was decked out with powerglide trans, power steering, power seat, power windows (front only) and an headlight auto dimmer!
I went through a stage in building where I was detailing to some extent but it soon became more like a job than a hobby.
I will do the best I can just painting detail under hood, interior and chassis and foil trim but that is the extent of it for me.
I don't do contests my builds go into a case and are there to enjoy looking at.
It is my escape from the real world for a few hours a day!
A gift is just that, a gift. I'm thankful for their thought.
I get 2 to 3 models a year as well as a case or two usually a different brand so none will stack together!
The only thing is when they give a kit that is specific like the Christine and Starsky and Hutch cars that I know the expect to look like the box pictures.
I have met him several times and he is the real deal just the man you see here!
First time I met him was in the days when his crew would give back their paychecks to help get to the next race! How's that for a dedicated crew!
Says a lot about the man. Seen him take time a lot for the kids that would be there too!
Definitely from the "old school" or racers!
Once in a great while if i get several kits going at the same time.
Otherwise I like to mix it up.
Just finished the old woody and now working on this horrible 72 GTO!
Just an .030 bore brought the 396 to 402 but to not shake up the gearheads they continued to call it a 396 in lighter cars, 402 in the trucks and Turbo Jet 400 in the full size cars!
Beautiful 54 wagon Bob!
Traveled old66 a lot as a kid here in Illinois and in Missouri!
You saw the giant astronaut in Wilmington then!,
Lived within a half hour drive from 66 most of my life!
I worked on VW's on and off over 20 years. It is still a mixed bag given the taillights and the engine that didn't appear until the 70s.
It reminds me of what was being built in Mexico after European production ended on the Beetle.
They were but everything was so wrapped I had to glue them in place to make everything line up and fit.
I should have removed the external hinges to make it correct but did not think about it until too late.
No clearance here and the girl said not to expect any any time soon.
Still picked up the "not so 68" Volkswagen kit though! Though a mixed up year kit it is still a nice one.
