"Simple" Revell 30 Model A Coupe. finished 4/11/2022
Spex84 replied to Mr. Metallic's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I dig all the ways you're deleting some of the toy-like features and making the model look more like a 1:1, namely the floor tab removal and door panel modifications. Mockup looks tuff!! -
That's what we're paying up here in Canada, fellas. eBay shipping these days is frequently $35 per kit. Whee! Best to bundle your purchases and combine shipping!!

1970 Winnebago D27 Chieftain

That grille is a thing of absolute beauty! I'm loving this build so far. My parents had a "Winnie" briefly that looked a lot like this. Mechanically it was a lemon, and smelled funny. I distinctly remember feeling very carsick sitting at the dining room table while were underway. I think it had a 318 or a 360 in it? -

Well this is exciting! Awesome work so far. I can't wait to see more. I also have a pile of parts stashed away, waiting to become a Carroll-esque coupe (Ed's chopped '32 5w body, a flathead, yada yada). My direction for the project might be swayed by this beautiful machine, Simon Gluckman's "Little Eve", which is basically the Carroll coupe with a blown OHV instead of a flattie. it might be of some interest to you too! -
I clicked on this purely because of the brilliant moniker It looks very functional! Would be awesome if the name was included somewhere, as a punchline people will discover if they look closely. It could be printed on a banner, or an event poster, or a photo-reduced magazine cover, or...I don't know.

Oh, whoops! I've sold several and thought you were one of the buyers. No worries, it's the thought that counts haha.

Thanks Tom! I've just added a 1/16 version to the Shapeways store.

Very cool. That interior looks convincing, can't wait to see more!

Beautiful work, and very instructive! Thanks Roger!

Thanks @Mr. Metallic and @mrm. Craig, have you received yours yet? I was holding off until I can get some product feedback (still concerned about those sprue connectors, haha!) But shucks, I guess I'll post here anyway: Anyone want a quick-change rearend and T-style spring and crossmember made to fit into the Revell '29 and '30 Fords? The first version is up on the MapleLeaf Modelworks store at Shapeways.com! Search for "quick-change". This is just a promo render; the actual product is made of multiple individual pieces connected with sprues for easier painting; use a razor saw to carefully separate parts from sprues). I'm hoping to do a test print on my own printer soon, and will make adjustments as needed.

Thanks for the detail shots and explanation of all the scratchbuilding and hard work that went into this magnificent creation! My first reaction was "haha, a brown UPS Paddy Wagon with a hot delivery girl. Cool idea. Engine swap and Rat Roaster tires". But of course, on second glance, there's a LOT more going on. Fantastic work and a super-solid execution of the concept. I'd say this is a model to be very proud of!

Now that's an ambitious project! I'm going to enjoy watching this one -
Beautiful work Dennis! I love that gold-bronze color (Aztec Gold?).

Thanks Craig! I'm so excited to see some of these parts getting used on people's projects. ...Wow, it's been a while since I updated here. Here's a recap of some 2021 additions!

Nice work on that chop! I've only attempted to lean-chop a '34 once...with variable results, haha. The upper door frames and window reveals were the most difficult part to deal with. I like the truck grille! I agree it could use a little shortening, but I understand why you might not want to slice into it. The hemi combined with that wheel/tire package is going to look seriously mean!

Unable to open secondary pages of a topic
Spex84 replied to BDSchindler's topic in How To Use This Board
Just wanted to chime in that I'd been having the same problem but as of today I seem to be able to open pages normally; I'm using Firefox. For months I had to type the page number into the url bar if I wanted to get anywhere other than the first page I landed on, for instance "comments/page/6". The issue persisted through several Firefox updates. Jeremy, perhaps updating Firefox to the latest version will fix the issue for you? -
That elevated rear 3/4 shot is a treat! Looks like a piece of artwork by Gary Campesi...love it.

1990 Mustang LX - SVT Cobra DOHC Powered! UPDATE! 1/22/23
Spex84 replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This is very cool so far. Tough look, thoughtful parts choices and kitbashing...I look forward to seeing where it goes! Are those the same wheels as in the Shelby Series 1 kit? They look super familiar, and I don't own any Mustang kits. -
Turned out very well! The paint work is spectacular. I love seeing tasteful builds using the radical custom options of the 60s....that clear hood is actually pretty sweet too!

Love it so far! The narrowed '58 tail and basket-handle roof are super cool. I feel like the sides of the body could use some contouring or a molded beltline mimicking the '58 design. Or maybe some radical exhaust headers
