  1. Mmm, nope. I just checked the instructions and some online auction listings that show the kit components and I was incorrect. The '57 Ford seats are different; more pronounced bolsters and a different upholstery pattern. But I DO have a couple sets of those seats in my stash! Hmm...what the heck are they from? I'll keep looking.
  2. Cool project! That seat looks like it's from the '90s issues of the AMT '57 Ford, which featured a selection of 2-n-1 features. I think this version has those seats?:
  3. Sounds like that body must be a super-high detail mesh. Good luck. There are a couple ways to optimize or re-mesh objects in Blender, but it does tend to result in undesirable changes to the mesh. I look forward to seeing what technique does the trick!
  4. Meshmixer might do what you need. If I was going to split that body in Blender, I'd make 3 copies of the body and use Boolean modifiers with a large cube to remove the rear 2/3 of the first body, the nose and tail of the second body, and the front 2/3 of the third body. The result, once the modifiers were applied, would be 3 chunks: nose, center, and tail. The body probably needs to be a contiguous "watertight" mesh in order for the Boolean modifier to work well.
  5. I dig all the ways you're deleting some of the toy-like features and making the model look more like a 1:1, namely the floor tab removal and door panel modifications. Mockup looks tuff!!
  6. That's what we're paying up here in Canada, fellas. eBay shipping these days is frequently $35 per kit. Whee! Best to bundle your purchases and combine shipping!!
  7. You're a man of honor, I see As a designer of 3D parts I find it encouraging to hear this sentiment expressed. It's why I don't sell digital files...yet. Eventually 3D printers will become so ubiquitous that the tide will turn. And dude, those louvers are spectacular!
  8. That grille is a thing of absolute beauty! I'm loving this build so far. My parents had a "Winnie" briefly that looked a lot like this. Mechanically it was a lemon, and smelled funny. I distinctly remember feeling very carsick sitting at the dining room table while were underway. I think it had a 318 or a 360 in it?
  9. Well this is exciting! Awesome work so far. I can't wait to see more. I also have a pile of parts stashed away, waiting to become a Carroll-esque coupe (Ed's chopped '32 5w body, a flathead, yada yada). My direction for the project might be swayed by this beautiful machine, Simon Gluckman's "Little Eve", which is basically the Carroll coupe with a blown OHV instead of a flattie. it might be of some interest to you too!
  10. I clicked on this purely because of the brilliant moniker It looks very functional! Would be awesome if the name was included somewhere, as a punchline people will discover if they look closely. It could be printed on a banner, or an event poster, or a photo-reduced magazine cover, or...I don't know.
  11. Oh, whoops! I've sold several and thought you were one of the buyers. No worries, it's the thought that counts haha.
  12. Thanks Tom! I've just added a 1/16 version to the Shapeways store.
  13. This project is way cool. I like the aesthetic and I'm impressed by the parts you're churning out! My attempts to print tires have not gone super well, so far. Yours are looking excellent!
  14. Very cool. That interior looks convincing, can't wait to see more!
  15. Beautiful work, and very instructive! Thanks Roger!
  16. Thanks @Mr. Metallic and @mrm. Craig, have you received yours yet? I was holding off until I can get some product feedback (still concerned about those sprue connectors, haha!) But shucks, I guess I'll post here anyway: Anyone want a quick-change rearend and T-style spring and crossmember made to fit into the Revell '29 and '30 Fords? The first version is up on the MapleLeaf Modelworks store at Shapeways.com! Search for "quick-change". This is just a promo render; the actual product is made of multiple individual pieces connected with sprues for easier painting; use a razor saw to carefully separate parts from sprues). I'm hoping to do a test print on my own printer soon, and will make adjustments as needed.
  17. Looking good!! make me want to go back to my long-abandoned channeled '30 coupe build. Nice work on the shortened grille...the kit '30 grille is difficult to do anything with, being one piece. I'm glad you tackled the challenge because it looks so much better now.

    SPECIAL DELIVERY

Thanks for the detail shots and explanation of all the scratchbuilding and hard work that went into this magnificent creation! My first reaction was "haha, a brown UPS Paddy Wagon with a hot delivery girl. Cool idea. Engine swap and Rat Roaster tires". But of course, on second glance, there's a LOT more going on. Fantastic work and a super-solid execution of the concept. I'd say this is a model to be very proud of!
  19. Now that's an ambitious project! I'm going to enjoy watching this one
  20. Beautiful work Dennis! I love that gold-bronze color (Aztec Gold?).
  21. Thanks Craig! I'm so excited to see some of these parts getting used on people's projects. ...Wow, it's been a while since I updated here. Here's a recap of some 2021 additions!
  22. Nice work on that chop! I've only attempted to lean-chop a '34 once...with variable results, haha. The upper door frames and window reveals were the most difficult part to deal with. I like the truck grille! I agree it could use a little shortening, but I understand why you might not want to slice into it. The hemi combined with that wheel/tire package is going to look seriously mean!
  23. Just wanted to chime in that I'd been having the same problem but as of today I seem to be able to open pages normally; I'm using Firefox. For months I had to type the page number into the url bar if I wanted to get anywhere other than the first page I landed on, for instance "comments/page/6". The issue persisted through several Firefox updates. Jeremy, perhaps updating Firefox to the latest version will fix the issue for you?

    Show Rod

That elevated rear 3/4 shot is a treat! Looks like a piece of artwork by Gary Campesi...love it.
  25. This is very cool so far. Tough look, thoughtful parts choices and kitbashing...I look forward to seeing where it goes! Are those the same wheels as in the Shelby Series 1 kit? They look super familiar, and I don't own any Mustang kits.
