Wow!! Brian you’re really knocking this thing out!! It looks great!! I like it! The two hole rims are an excellent choice!
I don’t know if you have made a decision on the tanks yet, but sometimes I use PVC pipe and either paint it or I have wrapped it in thin aluminum glued on with two part epoxy.
Awesome looking build! Great job on the conversion. A lot of differences that sometimes go unnoticed like the door hinges. I hope to do a 4000 myself some day. I like the short wheel base and the breather set up that you chose. The exhaust is interesting. I’ve only seen one truck in real life that had it ran all the way out the back like that. Most stop behind the cab. Very unique. The weathering looks awesome! Great job all around!
When you said simulate or duplicate, I thought that you meant that you were going to fabricate one like it. Looks like a great project! You have my attention!
I’m not sure how many times I can say “WOW”, but WOW! This thing is beautiful! Your are truly a master builder! Your work is not only enjoyable, but also inspirational! I’m looking forward to your next project!
I’m glad to see this collection! Your skills are amazing! You are truly an artist! I always enjoy watching and learning from your builds. These are beautiful!!
Thanks so much! Thanks to everyone who voted! I truly didn’t expect this. I really just set out to re-create a truck that had given me a lot of good memories. Thanks again to Jeff for handling the BRBO! Thanks again to everyone who voted!
Technically these engines , in non-turbo form are considered naturally aspirated and not supercharged. These were 2 stroke cycle engines without intake valves and the blower was necessary for the engine to run.
The old AMT 10 hole wheels were meant to represent tube type split rims that use a lock ring to secure the tire. The AMT representation definitely did not capture these rims perfectly. The 10 hole rims pictured as optional here look like the ones from the Transtar II kit and the 4300 kit. These are representative of tubeless one piece rims. I’m not sure what year these became a available but the 4070 A was available until 73. These rims are pictured on a Western Star in a 1973 issue of Overdrive magazine so they would have been available for this truck in 73 although the drives in this kit would still represent tube type rims.
