Current building techniques

This was at the show you just went to, I think? Jay Savarese and Clay Kemp Brought Models. That is one of the Pinnacles of Model Building right there. -
Current building techniques
stavanzer replied to Bobjernigan3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Possibly Because many of the OG Builders who did those things, have, like Roger Hayes said, gotten 20 years older and Gotten Over those "things', as you called them.? Possibly because aftermarket support for many of the parts needed to reach that level of detail has faded? Possibly because the population of Modelers willing (and able) to do that level of work gotten smaller? Possibly, because the Hobby has changed? Maybe it is just Age? There are any numbers of reasons. Welcome Back to the Board. Perhaps you can share some of your favorite methods of working to that level of detail. I know I can't do those things, (although I am learning)so I look forward to having you show me some "Tips & Tricks". I know that Bill Geary, Charles Rowley, Terry Jesse, & Tim Boyd, amongst many others post builds and tips here all the time. My Thanks, in Advance. -
Bets on how many of the Plow Trucks come with Warped Hoods? Or, other Parts?

So, it looks like the consensus is to avoid the American boxing and by the Euro kit, in order to keep from gambling on whether the body is Ruined. I hope Revell learns a lesson.

Round 2 November 2022 Product Spotlight
stavanzer replied to Dave Darby's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
For my Money, I'd like to see some serious effort spent on extending existing kits to get more variants out of the them. Since Pick Up Trucks are thin on the ground, I'd like to see parts restored to the (78) Ford Camper Special and (78) Dodge Pickup. The Ford has the "Star Truk" & "Tuff Truk" versions and the '77 that has a Camper Shell (aka Topper) that would make great additions to the kit. Simply Cloning the Star Truck's larger Chrome Tree with its 73-76 Grill and putting the Shell/ Topper back in the box would yield a couple more kits that could be sold. The Dodge had even more potential. The LRE (Little Red Express) short bed could come back as is, and adding the 4x4 Parts for the Warlock Version would be great. Adding the 4x4 to the Longbed, would make it possible to bring back the Baja Brute. I know that Round2 understands how much expansion there is in the Dodge. I just wish that a new version would come out soon. Preferably with a backdated grille, and a Complete Chrome tree, rather than the somewhat shortened one in the kit. Be nice to have all for LRE 5 Slot Rims dished the same way too. -
HL in Bakersfield had nothing new on the shelves. In fact they had only 12-14 kits at all. Nothing but Empty Shelves, and tags for new kits. I got an opened '63 Vette kit missing parts for $14.00. Tires and Chrome are good, and there is enough there to complete the kit, but there are engine parts missing. I'm happy. But , being Bakersfield, they may not re-stock completely Until Feb-March. (That is how it has worked in the past)

1/24 Revell '79 ('81?) Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
stavanzer replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not Sure if it will but worth looking, I suppose. Another kit I do not want. I like the Car. Not paying 22.00 for decals.....(with Free plastic parts) -
Yeah, $22.00 with the Coupon Price.... Ugh. But, If they have the Bronco or Supra, I'll be getting one. But, the HL in Bakersfield runs months behind the rest of the country, and never gets kits that other HL's get. So, it is a gamble to see what they carry.

Art Work.... -
Not "Still Can't Figure Out". Try "Not Willing To Change, Or Spend 'time/money/effort' to do any better". The more I think about this, the Sadder and Angrier I get. These are professionals. This is their business. Their Job. There are literally 'No Excuses' why this should be happening........ First Moebius and their Ramp Truck, and now this from Revell. Moebius, you can almost understand. First Kit this size, new process & parts, Yada, Yada. Should not have happened, but did. Maybe just trying too hard, too fast. And they have stepped up to make things right. But Revell? What is the excuse? As the old joke goes: "They want to succeed in the worst possible way. And they are!" Ultimately, Revell is in the Consumer Products Business. Corner-Cutting, & Carelessness have taken over almost all industrial Consumer Products companies. Why should Revell be any different? Apparently nobody cared enough to prevent a repeat of past problems,, and if anybody did care (or even remember that this is a common problem for Revell), they did not have any authority to change the process and prevent the problem. It is all just Sad. Sad and I'll say this "Stupid". It should not have happened. It did anyway. Now, more time and effort and money wasted, fixing a problem that should never have happened. At least it is just toys! Not Lives.........

Available in a kit?
stavanzer replied to LL3 Model Worx's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Not Dumb at all. There might be some in resin, but I have never looked for them, either. Good Luck. I'd look for "Junk Engine Lots" on eBay, and see if any turn up. -
I forgot to add two words to my declaration. "For Me" It should have read: "I'm just saying that the Airbrush isn't worth the effort for me." My earlier comment makes clear that my Bold Statement, applies to just Some modelers, not all of them. But I enjoy the work of many types of model builders, so it is all good to me at the end of the day.

Dodge L700 Straight Truck

I remember seeing the real thing on the road 40 years ago. You really nailed the look with this build! Great Job. -
Again..... This should not keep happening. QC should have caught this. "There is never time to do it right--But--There is always time to do it over" New Revell Motto. (See the Dodge Ramcharger 4x4,'59 Caddy, ect. ect.)

I'll stand corrected on both counts, then, Bill. You know both areas better than I do. If you say so, I'll believe you.
