Tim can say more, but from what I know space on a tool is at a premium. Therefore, when the tool was first laid out, somebody on the design team had to fight to get those parts into the tool. Those parts, not something else that was also talked about and planned for. So, Revell planned for and wants those pieces there. For now, they are a great bonus. Someday, they'll be needed for a version of the kit, that was planned into it before the first steel was cut. I hope I live long enough to see what that kit is. P.S. For You Hallibrand Rear Axle Fanboys. I get it. NO ROD IS REAL, WITHOUT A QUICK CHANGE!!! As has been stated before, The Design Brief for this kit was a Modern, Daily Driver Type Rod. While I'm sure it was discussed, the QC rear end was nixed at the highest levels, as it did not fit the "Vision" this kit was aimed at. Revell might (or might not) have plans for a QC in the Future. We will not know until we see one in this kit someday. So Scratch Up your QC, and have fun.

Aurora reborn? ...Not! (I think)
stavanzer replied to mr moto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Maserati and Aston, were last seen in Revell/ Germany boxes in the 1990's, so Maybe Atlantis did get them. It would be nice to see them return, as the prices are getting crazy. -
Joe, I build Cars, Big Rigs, Showrods, WW2 Fighters in 1/48. WW2 Bombers and Choppers in 1/72, Sci-Fi Spaceships, 1/700 Naval Ships, and 1/35 Armour.

With the Notable Exception of the AH-56 Cheyenne, Atlantis has nothing for me, so far this year. I really hope they come up with some more Automotive stuff. The 1/48 Mobilgas Tanker, is of course, Awesome, but the rest of the line up, a big "Meh!" for me, right now. I want to support them, but the kits they have on offer currently, just do not open my wallet. Maybe better luck, next Quarter............

Help identifying plane and scale
stavanzer replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I can't tell you much, but the large A on the tail is an ETO (European Theatre of Operation) Squadron marking. It should not have the Star&Bar on both wings, so it is obviously Kid Built. The White w/ Blue cowlings is sharp, but not seen on the real thing. It is a Time Capsule, and window into the young man who built it. Good Luck. -

1/25 AMT 1927 Ford T Vintage Police Car
stavanzer replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That's a sharp looking Model T, Terry. It makes a great car to copy. I wonder what "Gunmetal Blue" looks like. I need to research it. -
What car should I customize next??
stavanzer replied to Can-Con's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
My Vote, Steve? The upcoming Round2/AMT '63 Galazie. The Astro inspired Front End withy those huge double Headlights just begs to be built. And I've never seen one built with those parts. I'll bet that only one out of a thousand '63 Galaxie kits is even started using that Custom Front End. -
Thanks! Great Looking Darts!

Pat. I know you've already found a boat, but the Coronado just would not let me sleep. I found the original page from Round2 showing it coming. https://www.collectormodel.com/round2-models/3013-lindberg-model-kits-1959-century-coronado-boat/ And, as ZTony mentions it is an old kit with tons of flash. I want to say somebody on the board in Oz, (Alan Barton??)Built the thing and posted pics. He did a Great Job on it!!

Thanks, John. But, Which stripes are for the Hang Ten?
-
I had the Sweathogs kit years ago. The Figures are truly awful. Bring the kit back, but I would not miss the figures if they did not make it into the kit. I've also never seen one (of the three or so, I've seen in person) where the headlights got plating all the way down inside. The wheels are always iffy too. But, I'd take this kit in ANY way it was molded.

I'm both old, and a bit of a Novice with Darts. Which decals are for the Hang Ten? I see the Spirit of 76 Logos.I assume the Red/White/Blue stripes are for that version.

Hey, huge Cudos to Round2 on the Mod Stock Decal sheets!! Both the '66 Impala and no this '65 Ford, have great new decal sheets. I see that the Fairlane also gets the stock wheel covers back on the chrome tree! Also good news. This is great. Sadly (for my wallet) all three of these kits have moved to "Must Haves" based on the work Round2 has done to them. Edit. But the Bean Counters strike again! Only 4 tires in the '63 Galaxie. No Slicks, no Custom tires. They pulled that same stunt with the '63 Impala too. Come On, Round2? Back in the "Bad Old Days" Even Walmart kits got both stock and custom tires, or at least a pair of slicks! Give with one hand, takeaway with the other..........

TV "Star"cars that never were kited
stavanzer replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That Lindberg Goose is at least 10 years old. It was tooled by Ideal Toy in the 1950's but never actually released then. It first saw the light of day about 2008-9. Ernie Petit from Lindberg sent me one as a gift. It is truly a Time Capsule kit, and reflects when it was tooled. The Propellers have a line of raised rivets around the edge of the blades, and there are some awkward parts in the fuselage, meant for some kind of motorization, that never happened. It was such a dog that I threw it away 12 after I got it, half built. The decals on the box top are 90% of the whole sheet. I'd avoid the kit like the plague. It (IMHO) is that bad. -
Gone, Luc! Gone Forever......

Well, I'm wanting one. Mine will be a Police Car.

REVELL HONCHO WHEELS AND TIRES
stavanzer replied to ROY FERGUSON's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've used both the ex-Monogram CJ-7 Spoke Rims, and the Dodge Ramcharger Alloy Rims on the Honcho. Since they both used the same tires as the Honcho, it is a direct swap.If you strip the chrome from the Jeep CJ rims, and paint the White, they look very "factory correct" on the Honcho. As for aftermarket wheels/tires, I'd get a set of both Rims and Tires from Scenes Unlimited. He can set you up with a the whole shebang for a pittance, and the quality is First Class. -
The Coronado has disappeared. Kit reviews at the time noted that since it was a re-pop of a 1959 vintage Pyro kit, that the fit was sloppy, and detail was not good in some places. Kit also have no trailer. There was some discussion about the kit size and scale. For some, it seemed to be vastly oversized and they thought it might be 1/20 scale. I never got it, only the Owens Cruiser, but I'm am hunting one. The Trailer out of one of the Revell Bass Buster kits, would be where I'd start to build a trailer for either of the big Pyro boats. I've seen a couple builds online, and they come out okay. Good Luck!

F-94C Starfire

Beauty of a Build, Scott. That is indeed a sad, old kit. Hard to believe that for over 50 years it was the ONLY 1/48 Scale F-94. You did good work. -
What a Great Save, Roger! It Reeks "Survivor Build". You did Good.

This is looking Great! I really like the "Truck Load" of parts.
