  1. About this. One of my first thoughts is that Mr. Pivar, the author of the Letter, is going to have to keep a low profile in the Hobby for a while. I would not want to be known as "That Guy" even if a few of my buddies agreed with me, in private. Not that he is going to advertise who he is, but in a world of Facebook and Social Media he could become far more well known than he expected in just a few days, if somebody wanted to ID him. But in the end I blame SA, and the editor who made the final call. SA prints at most 15-20 letters a year (at 3-4 an issues). What made 'this' letter stand out to be the pick of those who were unhappy about the Modelhaus closing. I am reasonably certain that another letter sharing the same viewpoint in much less brutal language could have been picked. Lastly I doubt that Jim Haught would have run this. The new editor's inexperience shows through badly this time. I hope he does better in the future. I'm sure more than a few canceled subscriptions, have been pointed in describing WHY they are canceling. That will get attention fast.
  2. Thanks. I've never heard of Hobby Design. I'll go look for them.
  3. As the title says, does anybody make the K&N looking Air Filters? I need a pair of smaller ones for my Peking to Paris CBP Group Build.
  4. Dave D, those rims look perfect in the Rat Roaster tires. Is anybody casting them in resin yet?
  5. Thank You! That answers my question.
  6. I have a question. I have Both the Tom Daniels Vandal, and the older version of the AMT Deora with the Vanlike topper. Which would be legal for this build?
  7. Lou, after finding a photo of the spare tire mount on the Nova, I think that mounting it that way might be OK for this race. It really doesn't affect the profile look of the car, and if you stayed with smaller 'street' sized tires, I could even see two tires working. As long as it was a clean, neat job, I'd be okay with it. Just me though.
  8. That Dune Buggy is a Revell Kit. I have 2 of them. It is a simple but sharp Snap Kit, with some really nice Offroad Wheels and Tires. I too would like to see Revell bring that kit back out. I think that the Buggy plus a trailer would make a nice stand alone kit now, to compliment the Moebius Pick up kits. I have this boxing of the Buggy and a Blazer. Truly a unique kit. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/1041862-revell-6508-4x4-chevy-blazer
  9. This thread is really relevant now that this has been announced for release sometime in 2019. I'll be referring back to your photos, once I build mine.
  10. I'll be getting the Super Trailer. I may even build it. It will be worth it to me, just for the accessories alone.
  11. The Clear Hood on the Red Car is going to be the hardest part. Somebody back in the 1990's did a resin conversion kit of the Red Car. Had a clear resin hood. For the life of me, I cannot remember who it was. Wish I had gotten one. I'll never see it again.
  12. Well, it is November of 2018. I see no Revell Germany Landrover kits. Maybe Next year, 'eh?
  13. That's what that Chrome tree is From!!! I have one of those chrome trees in my stash. It came in a parts lot I got from eBay years ago. I knew it was Dodge, but never knew what kit it was. Good to know. Thanks for helping me identify it.
  14. I'd like to see the Pintera kit come back. Warts and all, that is a blast of 70's nostalgia right there.
  15. Sign Me Up! You can never have enough pickup trucks. Thanks for sharing that Casey. I had no idea.
  16. Two Words. Cooter's Towtruck.. Maybe we can at least get the kit back if not the Duke's tie in.
  17. Aw, Dang. I already got the Fire Truck version. Now I'll want one of these. Hopefully HL gets them.
  18. This is going to unlock a whole bunch of aftermarket resin parts. All I'll need is a resin 1973 Grille, if the box contents match the box art. I suspect that this kit is going to generate page after page of comments. Good, Bad and everything in between. Give the lack of MOPAR Pickups and the price even the LRW kits bring, this thing is going to be a lodestone of interest. I know that I'm in for as many as my budget can support next year, and a group of resin parts to backdate, change, and augment this kit. Now comes the hardest part. Waiting until it hits the shelves and there are definitive answers to the dozens of questions about what exactly is in the box, and how good the parts are. This kit is going to be Fun! The Circus surrounding it, will be even more Fun!
  19. That Super Trailer really floats my boat! I'll need one of those for sure. I hope the Rat Trap and Ridge Runner kits have alternate decal markings. Glad to see the Polar Lights VW Bug back. Some great stuff heading our way.
  20. I'd really like to see the Gas Cans and other accessories added back in to the '34 P/U. However, I suspect that Dave Darby's thoughts about where they went, is the correct answer. With out some brand new tooling being cut, those parts are probably long gone. It would be nice to be surprised by seeing those parts return, however.
  21. And what might be a better link from the Old Motor. http://theoldmotor.com/?s=Model+T+ford+Speed+Equipment+&&paged=1
  22. Aaron. I owned a '27 T Speedster. It was a blast to drive. However, 55mph in a T is far faster than it would seem. An open, Speedster Body at 55, gives a subjective 100 mph feel. Here are a buncha links from the Old Motor online site. They may provide some useful background on Ruxtell Rear Axles and Rocky Mountain Brakes. Two of the Most Common T accessories, and some of the most useful as well. Follow the links at the bottom of the articles to learn more. Also some great Flavor Pieces, if you are not a T fanatic like me. http://theoldmotor.com/?p=136181 http://theoldmotor.com/?p=151395 http://theoldmotor.com/?p=159089 http://theoldmotor.com/?p=165896 http://theoldmotor.com/?p=139059 http://theoldmotor.com/?p=129106 Enjoy.
  23. I think the grille would look great on the 48 Woody! The Wheels from this kit would look great on the Woody too.
  24. Box Art for the new kit does not show the stake bed. Probably need to open the new kit, before we know for sure. I'll need one just for the grins, if nothing else. I've got plenty of the Lindberg versions, but just to have it in an AMT box will be great.
  25. The Red Car was the one I was hoping for when the "Greased Lightning" was first announced. Sadly, all we got was 6 new pieces for the venerable '48 Vert, and Revell did not even give us the period Hop Up parts from the Chopped Coupe. Kinda lame, really, if you think about it.
