Bill, try looking for either the of the Vette's out now. My LHS has the Recent USA-1 (?) with the super wide rear tires, for five dollors less than the 2014 reissue. Same parts in both kits, and the Newer One has 4 extra tires. Better barging for you if you are buying just to build, and not set on a particular decal option. YMMV. Alan

I'm in for One Plymouth, one Pontiac, and One GMC.

Good Work from Ira. But then ALL work from Ira is good. He does beautiful and Clever work.

I remember seeing an Ala-Tub build up, in SAE many years ago. I do not remember who built it, but it was a neat build.

Casey and Richard M. have the right idea. The kit were mostly a kid's thing then, and tooling had to "pay it's way". So the changes looked like a good idea (at the time). None of the men in charge, had any idea that 50 years later, those exact same kids now all grown up, would lust after the very kits that could not be given away when no longer new. Mark B, is also correct about MPC's willingness to re-purpose tooling to get more sales. So many "Classic" MPC kits were "altered' to derive further sales variants, it is truly amazing that any have survived.

I just looked. I have eight copies of this kit. Four are in the Yellow box 19703(?) Street Rods boxing, with the others being Two Checkerboard Wal-Mart specials, and the Other two an Original (minty) Ala-Kart, and the other the ratty 1990's version with the brown A on the box. Two of the Street Rods kits are molded in Black, and two in White. Not sure why. All of my versions (except the Original), of course are missing the Ala-Kart Nose and Bed, as well as the many detail parts. The Red Ram Hemi is present in all kits, and has either the later Blower or the early Twin Carb option. This looks to be a great kit to re-release. I sincerely hope that Tom L. and John G. can make the case for giving us at least the Grille Shell, and Bed from the Ala-Kart, even if we don't get the rest. I have at least three of these kits with the Hood, Body Tub, and Fenders, that lack only a Shell, in order the make a semi complete car. I hope also that enough parts will be restored to allow two complete cars to be made from the kit. This would be great. I have great trust in what Round2 has done and is doing, (despite my grousing elsewhere), so I eagerly await this kit to see what turns up in it. This is the First Kit that I built with out help (age 12), and even now there are still a few stray parts in my parts boxes. I built the 1973 Street Rods version, which explains why I bought 4 of them unbuilt on ebay. This kit, is for me, a Must Have!

Well, according to at least one set of Nurnberg pics, this kit is coming. Oddly enough in the Fuzz Duster boxing that started this thread. I'll hafta get at least one. My Wife's first car was one of these Volare things.

The Hood and Body/Cowl tub are still in the Kit. Get us the Grille Shell, and Pickup bed, Round2 and we'll do the rest. I'll not quibble over anything else that does not make it. As long as I have the sehll, and bed, I can come close enough. Thanks, Alan

Thanks, for the Info, Art. Puts my fears about the plastic to rest. As for the tires, I'm actually looking to replicate the car as you would see it today, on an HCCA run, or car show, rather than the period tire. If the Tires are a flexible vinyl, they'll probably tint Ok, with a Sharpie, or something close.

Yah, do they do return to Iron Mountain to spawn, LOL

Thanks, for posting this Casey. Looks like Revell and Mobius gets the Model Budget in the First part of 2016.

Erik, Erik..... Can we hold up on the AMT/Round2 bashing, please? You wanna do that start your own thread, and don't hijack this one.

Dave, that Black/Red 'Vette is a Killer! I wish I could get mine to look so clean and sharp. I need to get my paint better. Oh Well, I keep getting a bit better with each one I finish. I just need to finish more. LOL -
new issue Round 2 MPC 1960 Corvette

From building the 2002-3 release with the Gold Car on the box, I'd say the the front suspension parts are both Fiddly enough, and Weak enough, that working springs is a waste of time anyway. Build it with the plastic springs and enjoy. -
Wow, that sure looks neat! I may have to hunt one up.

Yeah, well the new one is a definite step backwards. All Gee Whiz and Glitz, but lousy to use. Harder to see what is both New and a Kit. Too Jumbled. I dislike having to choose so many filters to try to find what I want, when the website could just be set with tabs to the categories. Another case of Too Much Show and not enough Go.

It is all Sergio Marchionne's Fault. Greedy so&so, just want's to "monetize" all the brands he retains control of. There is your problem.

Thanks, Matt. I'd never seen that TZ2. What a looker! I think I like it better than the Prancing Horse. -

What Alfa is that Matt? I want one. I'd settle for the Italeri, Revell, or Heller version, if there is one. -
Thanks, for the Photo's, Cap'n.. The tyres could at least have been pad-printed. I really like the M/T Cheaters, however. Wish Round2 would sell those in an 8 pack. DEcals look OK to me, but Kinda 'meh' compared to some of the other Retro Deluxe kits. Looks like this was the work of the "B" team....... Not a bad kit at all, but Round2 will want the same price for this one, as the Home Run Deora kit. This "un-eveness" in consistancy drives me Bonkers. 4 new Rims, and some period sponsor decals and a few black stripes, don't live up to the billing, at least to me. I don't mind there being 2 'levels' of retro kits. Just be straight about how much, (or how little) we are really getting when we shell out $25.00 now for 35-45 year old tooling. And price accordingly. The Deora Kit is rightly worth $25.00. The Charger, not so much. It is a good $20.00 kit. A bit of a let down as a $25.00 one.

Outstanding, Tim. What great review of what will be my next kit purchase. Thanks, Alan
