  2. Jon, Great Review! Thank You for taking the time to post pics. This looks like a 'must-have' kit for me. I had (and foolishly sold) the blue Café Racer version a couple years ago. I'll be glad to have another. My only nit-pick is the execrable Michelin TRX tires. Revell/Monogram should never put those in a kit again, and this kit deserves better than that. Cheaping out at the last minute, hurts your product. RM should have put in two sets of tires. Other than that, though, kit looks like a winner and will go great with Round2's Opel GT.
  3. Jon, I agree with you and have said so, in other threads about this kit. Simply providing a "smoothie" tailgate, different wheels and a set of chromed Valve Covers and Air Cleaner, of slightly updated design, would yield a Custom Ford Pickup kit, after the Foose Lic expires. I have no crystal ball, but it seems to be a prudent direction to take with the tooling, going forward. From the Built, and in construction examples I've seen so far on the 'net, I'd say that this kit is already a winner. Looks like is goes together smoothly, and without any drama. Sits flat on all four wheels, and the cab and bed appear to (in photos, anyway) go right onto the chassis. Engineering looks to be great. P.S. one of the Slixx Hometown Sponsor sheets has some "Sanford & Son" door markings that would look great on this kit. S&S for the 21st Century. You just KNOW Lamont would drive it.
  4. Your Build looks clean and sharp so far, Chad. That axle is well hidden. Looks like the chassis sits square and flat right out of the box. Not my Cuppa, but a good lookin' start.
  5. Be Forewarned however that the "Vinyl" that Testors' used for tires in the original kits is awful. Some tires dry, shrink and split. Some don't. A wheels swap may be needed with any Testors kit. That said, I'm sure the new Round2/Lindberg version will have great tires. And most likely, better decals.
  6. Rob, that is the first Foose I've really liked. That has got to be one of his better builds. Thanks for sharing. I hope Revell will kit that someday.
  7. Thanks for posting these. A very clear view of what you get for your money. I'm really anxious to see what else,(if anything) Revell gets out of this tool. Considering the considerable time between the Chopped '49 Merc kit, and its stablemate '50 Woody Wagon kit, I look forward to seeing what surprises are in store for this tool. You just know that in the case of the Merc, the wagon had to have been planned for in the beginning. It just took years for the plan to bear fruit. I wonder what (if any) plans are for this? I'm awaiting the Eldo. The engine from that kit is destined for my '50 Woody Wagon.

  14. Well, I finally got mine. After a looking and comparing with a 2000 something kit, I see that you can do a complete Custom frontend with the Vertical Headlight pods and the front roll pan. Even the chromed headlight are back on the chrome tree. The Desoto Grill bar will fit the roll pan too. Strangely, the front half of the TV, did not make it into the kit, and the decal sheet was IMHO, disappointingly small. No modern tires for the Custom wheels either. This kit really could have used 4 more tires for the other options. Not a problem, if you have a large stash, but otherwise it's difficult. The Huge Center Console with the Diamond Tuft upholstery made it back as well. The kit is cleanly molded, straight and sharp. That said, It will be a one trick pony for me. I won't need another. Some of the "new" (since 2008) kits are must haves for me, and some inspire multiple purchases. The '57 Ford is neither. Not enough added back to really excite my imagination, I guess. That said it will be a great kit for many people, and the Kit bash opportunities with the Revell '57 Ford are many. Now that Round2 restored the whole Hillborn F.I. system, you can put it on the Revell 312 for a different kind of Gasser.
  15. Well, I doubt on the Tire melt, but Revell has had quite a few screw chassis car in the last several years. The front axle caught me by surprise too.
  16. ICM from the Ukraine, has a three figure pak with Henry Ford, a mechanic and what may be, Thomas Edison or George Westinghouse. Nice looking figures, if a bit old fashioned in their clothing.
  17. What gets me, is all the comments about "why is there no stock option?"" I cannot get over the sheer number of people, who seem fixated on a stock version of this kit. Maybe it is because the kit 'looks' so close to stock. As Brett and others have noted, while this kit looks like a '56 Ford P/U it has had every body panel massaged to be smoother, rounder, or better looking. I fully expect a line by line comparison of the two vehicles in the future showing where Foose made his subtle alterations to the truck. Given the parts shown in the linked instructions, and what we have learned about Model Kit Tooling Economics on the boards in the last few years, it strikes me that Revell may already have plans to use this running gear under another kit. It will be fun to see what they do with it. I like to think of the '56 as a Ford Flavored Pick up, rather than an exact replica. The same with the other new Foose kit. It is an Eldorado Flavored Car, rather than a stock version. And, I'm OK with that. I'll wind up with the car rather than the truck. The Engine in the Caddy will be going into a certain Revell Merc Woody, just as soon as I can figure out how to make it fit. Heck, I may even build the convertible too.

  19. About the 4x4. I hope Moebius sees fit to give us some more aggressive offroad tires for the 4x4. BTW Thanks, Steve, for the pics. My first Moebius Ford pick up, will be a 4x4 version.
  20. Drat! I really like the kit, but want one with the standard tires,not the big Sand tires. I wonder if Hasegawa sells just the tires? Either way, I'll be on the lookout for one.
  21. Thanks for the photo's, Chuck. So, that means that the torque boxes will be in the stock kit, even if not called out in the directions. Seeing the parts trees, really helps clarify the reasoning that Revell employed. It would appear that swapping just one parts tree will handle all the changes from F&F to stock. I'd forgotten that the taillight panel that has been the focus of so much concern is on the F&F parts tree. Revell was really thinking ahead. Notice that the lifting blocks for the rear springs are on that tree too. I'd guess that Revell will have to use just two trees, one chromed and one plain to render the stock Charger. Sometime in 2019-2020 We'll see the 2'n'1 Charger Kit........... Way to go, Revell. This means I'll need to build Two Chargers now.
  22. I'm looking into trying to build a model of her 2015 Championship car. Any ideas where to start looking for a Body and Chassis. I figure the Body will have to be resin, but is there a kit chassis I could use as a starting point? TIA.
  23. Rob, you are correct about the Box Art. It was great in the 1980's for kids, but scared off the adults. I'd really like to see the kit back too. 'Fraid it'll never happen though.
