Chevy Nova '76 (inspired by a TV car as featured in "The Americans")
stavanzer replied to Tommy124's topic in Model Cars
You got the 'look' right the first time. Cross-kitting the '72 & '76 worked like a charm. That is an excellent replica. Good Show. -
That looks like a real "California Cruiser". Great work!

Yes it is. And that was the Discount Grocery store.

In Central California today it was 70 Degrees, clear as a bell, bright blue skies. I wore a T-shirt and shorts all day. It last snowed here in 1999.

Yuletide 2024 haul!
stavanzer replied to Faust's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Cool! Some Neat Cars there. -
Mine is a 8" long chunk of raw 2"x4", Coat Hangers and rubber tubing. All Found in my Garage. Cost? 0.00 Cents. Mine looks almost like the very top one. I find the Coat Hanger has plenty of 'spring' to it. If you are in America, ask any dry cleaning place about Wire Coat Hangers. They usually have plenty.

Revell: Stranger Things; Billy´s Chevy Camaro
stavanzer replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
There will be a few eBay sellers who will be parting the kit out. You should be able to purchase just the decals about 30 days after the kit hits the shelves in the USA/ -

Well, it looks like Revell took care of us after all, 4 Different build options. Now let's hear the gripe about there being only one Lic Plate... -

The Rise of the Model Making Celebrity
stavanzer replied to Bugatti Fan's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
YouTube Box openings are how I determine whether or not I spend my now (very) limited modeling budget on a certain kit. Seeing what's inside and looking at decals are very important to me. And it is nice to see different opinions from various channels. -
Enjoy the Snow, Ace.

I worked as an Acura Mechanic from 1988 to 1993. One thing the the older guys taught me early was 'never' adjust the seat controls unless you had to take a 'long' (over 5 miles)highway test drive. Otherwise just leave it alone. I moved cars driven by some midgets, but I managed to make it work. Only once did I have to ask the 5'6" service writer to put a car on the rack for. Little old Asian lady, about 4'6". Seat was so close to the wheel, my fat thighs would not even fit. Other than that one time, I seldom moved seats. It just wasn't done.

Old glue bomb kit, what went wrong?
stavanzer replied to kymdlr's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I still have that kit molded in exactly that shade of Brown. I think it's plastic. -
So, the Warren Tope Kit, and the Mach Won together should get me 85% of the way to a stock '70 Mustang?

Revell: Stranger Things; Billy´s Chevy Camaro
stavanzer replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
For the Builders complaining about the stripes and the chrome, Remember this tooling is meant to portray one very specific car. And only that car. What other builders do with the kit is really of no importance to Revell Marketing. Remember that almost all TV/Movie tie in kits are boxed to only build as that vehicle, and no other. That said, I would not be surprised to see this newly revised kit released in a year or two with Chrome parts and the Strip decals. Revell went to the trouble of filling the (not very well liked) T-Tops, and tooling a flat, Base Model hood, so a 3'n'1 kit is probably already on the new release list in a year or two. -

Want! -
Note that the Grille and hat are a small , separate sprue together, and look to be easily swapped for a different grille, at a future date. Also, the 5 small round Driving Light/Fog Light/ Auxiliary Light lenses on the Clear tree. Good things will be coming from the tooling for years.

Thanks, Mike! But, I'll bet it is Toxic to Parrots, and my Amazon Parrot would not appreciate my bring this home. But, a great idea after he leaves.

If you have S.A.D: Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a mood disorder subset in which people who typically have normal mental health throughout most of the year exhibit depressive symptoms at the same time each year.It is commonly, but not always, associated with the reductions or increases in total daily sunlight hours that occur during the winter or summer. This is a great thing, to have the sun come out. My Father had S.A.D., and it got worse as he got older. I have it too, but live in Central California, so there are fewer days when it is overcast and ugly. That helps me to avoid the symptoms. Enjoy Your Sunshine!

Revell 007 Aston Martin DB5
stavanzer replied to Mike 1017's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I had not thought of that. But, then why go to the trouble of all new tooling if you have a limited time to sell/numbers to sell? -
Atlantis rolls out ex Revell 57 Chevy Nomad.
stavanzer replied to John M.'s topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
And, the Atlantis '57 Bel-Aire will get you the Blower for a Gasser build. The engine are from similar tooling, and the parts swap is easy.
