Went to get a loaf of bread at the Grocery Store. I found Hot Wheels in a bin marked at 4 for $5.00. I got some. Standing at the checkout to pay for everything, I saw Candy Bars. Reese's Cups, Kit Kat, 3 Musketeers. They were marked 2 for $5.00. What kind of Crazy World is it when Hot Wheels cars are Cheaper than Candy Bars? I give up.......

Kits with sculpted interiors?
stavanzer replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It looks very good to me. You might try to massage that gap if you can, other wise, after all is painted, I think you'll be okay. -
Model building on youtube.
stavanzer replied to Force's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I seriously cannot understand the Anger directed at HPI Guy. He is very clear about how he builds and why he builds. He does teach basic techniques, and constantly advises his followers to 'Not Worry about a Little Flash' and he shows masking and painting to people who may have never tried masking. He does detail paint, and his use of Sharpie/Molotow for silver/chrome trim is now moving into mainstream model building. He encourages his viewers to try to new techniques, and take more time to build models. His built kits are "quick build", OOB w/Paint. He never pretends they are anything more than that. Some folks here acknowledge that, and still have a beef with him. I just don't understand that.... It's like Formal Portrait Painters, getting bent out of shape by the guy who draws caricatures at the County Fair. Both provide a service. Both get paid, by folx who are happy with the results. (in most cases). I don't understand why so many members here have a hard time understanding that just being a member here, already puts you in the 10% of modelers who desire to advance beyond OOB. Now We welcome all skill levels here, and I never, ever see anybody dump on the the members who post build photos of less that museum quality models. I seldom even read constructive criticism. "you know, if you block sanded the body, the mold line won't show on your next build." " if you wash the body, you won't get fisheyes in your paint" "using superglue on headlight lenses, will fog them up. don't use it for anything clear." How many readers and lurkers don't know those things? How many guys might welcome an answer as to why the build they just posted doesn't look as good a something built by Steve Guthmiller or Tim Boyd, or Chariots of Fire? So, why do people feel free to Dump on Chris (aka HPI Guy)? He is still a member here, and is never given the same courtesy that anybody else who post his built models here is given. It must be because he has a YouTube Channel , thus opening him, (and every other Model Builder on You Tube) to intense public scrutiny........... I just don't get it. Would you treat a guy at your local Model Show the way you treat HPI Gut online? -

American Industrial Truck Models. Dave Natale's Resin Truck Parts business. Had some of the Finest Resin Conversion sets and Wheels/Tires in the business. It looks like Matthew Arnold bought the molds and will continue the business. Three Cheers for Matthew!

Western Star Classic heavy haul
stavanzer replied to Biggu's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I'm watching too! I like the Western Star trucks. An Owner Operator I was friends with had one. His was a Diamond, Pearl White. Really a brilliant colour when washed and clean. However he complained that keeping a White OTR truck clean was a full time job. I look forward to seeing how you build this. I dispatched some Heavy Haul work about 15 years ago. It was fun, but there were lots of details. -
409 powered 1960 C 10
stavanzer replied to junkyardjeff's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
There is enough room in there for any V-8 to fit. The 409 is an inspired choice. Keep us updated. -
Your Detail Work, looks Spot On from here. You seem to be very close to you stated intention for this build. Keep up the Good Work. Good Show.

I'm so sorry for you, Rick. It hurts to be taken for granted. I hope things get better for you.

I'm guessing it was an MPC Kit, based on the shape of the seat and colour of the plastic, but after that I cannot help.

1/12 Lancia Fulvia teaser from Italeri?
stavanzer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Is there a decent, Mainstream 1/24 scale kit of the Fulvia? I did a brief search, and came up with some Diecast models, but no kits. -
I would think the Rallye cars would be the better selling kit. Maybe that's why Tamiya released the street kit first. Just a guess on my part.

Any word on a Revell 73 Mustang Mach 1?
stavanzer replied to Dave Toups's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Revell seems to move very slowly these days. But, if they tooled parts for the '73 car, you will eventually see the kit. But, don't hold your breath waiting. They don't waste tooling dollars, but sometimes it looks like they wait a very long time between versions of a kit. -
Oh, we get Bark Boxes, and Kong Brand toys. Just just chews those things to bits more slowly. LOL. I feel your Pain, John about losing a dog. Hard on both you and the dog. They bond with "their" people, and the separation confuses them.

What irked me? Rottweilers. Specifically My Rottie, Yarbo. She is a even tempered, affectionate dog most of the time, but at 26 months old, is still a puppy in 'Rotte years'. This morning I find her chewing on the Blink Camera for my front door. Not even sure how she found it. Over the last two years I have taken things from here mouth that I would not have believed any dog would try to eat. The List is Long: Pine cones, Paper towels, plastic any thing, steel bolts, 2"x4" chunks, even small rocks. She will literally try to eat (or at least chew on) anything. It is a constant battle with her. My wife says owning a Rotteweiler is a Lifestyle Choice, not owning a pet! Me: I'm convinced, that without humans to pull things from their mouths, no Rottweiler would live long enough to breed! The entire species would die out in one generation.... But, this is the most loving animal I've owned in 30 years. She is really my dog, and she shows it every day. She waits for me when I leave, and sleeps at my feet when I'm on the computer. Truly a great dog.
