Thanks for posting the Pics from Round2

You missed the most common term for an unfinished kit that is stored away. "Shelf of Doom" I've seen that on Airplane, Armor, Ship and Car modeling boards.

No, No it isn't his fault. They used one form of glue. It failed. They put the crown back on today with stronger adhesive. It will just make getting the temp crown off in 3 weeks, a lot harder job. That is why the used the weaker glue that first time, to make things easier when they pull the temp. I don't blame them. It happened, they fixed it 12 hours later (on a Saturday Morning, no less), so I'm pleased.

And the crown stayed on less than 24 hours. Came off last night while eating dinner. I do not blame the dentist. But, I may be eating nothing but mashed potatoes and pudding until the permanent crown is installed.

Tooth is Fixed. Temporary Crown looks great. New crown ready in the New Year. I'm very pleased.

I'm sorry John, for confusing the AMT kit with the MPC. Soery.

IIRC, the "whole story" is that the tooling for the Farm Machinery stayed in the US, with ERTL (or it's Corporate successor), and was never part of the various deals over the years that saw other ERTL truck kits get owned by Round2 now. A Lotto Winner could probably hire lawyers to reach a deal with the current holders of the tooling to perhaps run off some copies, but I suspect it would be like mating elephants. I think someday something could happen, but obviously nobody has the time, money or need to produce the kits now. I'm sure the existence of the tooling remains at Round2, but I suspect that the ROI on Tractors just isn't there to support Round2 spending the effort to get them out there. And, you have potential conflicts with Diecast toys also. Just before Scale Auto Collapsed there was a great article on the ERTL Tooling and it's history, with a comprehensive list of kit numbers and ID. Finding that would give better answers than my memory and guesses.

Steve, Thank You so much for taking the time to write a detailed reply to my comments. Now That I know the backstory on the Chevelle, I am forced to Eat Crow over the Strength of my commentary. My apologies for coming on so strongly. I'll be buying a SSlasher and Building it, while toasting you and your crew who made it happen.

I've had those days myself, John. Sometimes all you can do, is close the door, and console your self that in the famous words of Scarlett O'Hara: "After all, Tomorrow is another Day!"

Here is a Kit that is a Home Run, for parts & decals, IMHO. The New 1977 Mustang II kit. It hits all the right notes 10 (!) Tires, awesome decals, and three distinct versions. And, it is a really old school, simple MPC kit, no more complex than the SSlasher. Yet, look at the difference in presentation. No One is really going to balk at paying the cost for the Mustang kit. I know the SSlasher is a rare old kit, but so is the 'Stang. Once again, we see my "A Team" vs "B Team" theory play out. The Stang "A Team" looks like it got more love (and possibly budget $$) than the Chevelle "B Team". Now this may not be true, but the finished products sure look that way to me. The 4'n'1 Dodge Dart falls between the two Teams. On the Plus-side: Three wheel Options, Two engines, One a Hemi, Large Decal sheet, extra slicks. On the Negative side: Bland decal sheet looking like it is meant to upgrade the Demon or Duster kits, rather than the Dart. Very nice to have, but really pretty Bland. No "Weekend Warrior" decals. Again, the Rep Stock guys are happy, but nothing on the sheet for a Drag Racing car. Only 6 tires. Better than the SSlasher, but not by much. It looks like this is the same plastic as the 4 year old Dodge Dart shown in this HPI Guy Video. Thanks, HPI Guy for sharing the Mustang II kit with us.

I like the Flattie myself, but the Stovebolt Turbo wins the "Most Unique" award. Do what feels right.

The Decals for both of the Car kits are really disappointing. The Replica Stock Guys will be very happy to have the factory decals for the Dodge Dart, but as Mr. Mopar says there is nothing flashy about the decals. In fact the sheets looks excessively tame, and shows nothing "Weekend Warrior" in any way. The decals for the SSSlasher are equally uninspiring. Again the Rep Stock guys will be happy to have the stock SS markings as called out on the box, but the kit cannot be built stock, so that will cause heartache on the internet. I give both kits, a B- grade. Nice to see but, could've been much better.

Yeah, the old double standard. How can I get experience, for a resume, If I've never had a job. Given your interest in Cars, is there a shop you could start 'hanging out' at and volunteer to help clean up and hold things? After 2 years of Riding the bus, and bumming rides, I understand how hard it can be to get things moving without your own wheels, but it looks like you do have use a car when you need it. Keep the faith. Things will improve. Watch Some "Corner Gas". You can tell yourself that at least you don't live in Dog River.. (aka Rouleau)
