  1. I use pipe cleaners soaked in lacquer thinner to clean inside the body of my airbrush. Sometimes I will slide the pipe cleaner inside and let it soak for a few minutes just to make sure all the paint residue is loose.
  2. Used to see similar vehicles buzzing around the streets and roads of Thailand and Korea. Never thought of modeling one though, although I would love to find a Dhiatsu 1-ton in 1/25 scale.
  3. Be sure to take plenty of pictures.
  4. I have a rather large collection of newsprint end cuts. I have installed clips along the top and hang the newsprint around inside my booth. When they get too messy I simply replace the paper. Since the paper is almost white it is fairly bright inside the booth.
  5. X2, especially how you are going to get the power to the rear axle.
  6. Star Resins has a 2-dr '55 Chevy wagon. I would think if you swapped a '56 Del Ray front clip and taillights you could easily have a '56 2-dr wagon. http://www.resinrealm.net/Star/STAR Models/55_Chevy_Handiman_SW.html I got a 4-dr '55 wagon from them. It is a bit thick but a very nice body. Steve Kohler is easy to deal with, just email him to make sure the body is available.
  7. Many of the kits on my shelf, waiting to be built, are repops of kits I had earlier. The ones I am really missing are the AMT/SMP/MPC annuals from 1960 through around 1973.
  8. This will be post #1000 for me. It has been a good ride so far.
  9. You may want to put the wrapped model inside a zip-lock bag in case parts come loose. If the kit is bagged the recipient will be able to find any loose parts and not accidentally throw them away. I speak from experience as a recipient of a complete kit that was missing parts, some I later found in the folds of the shipping box, others were gone forever.
  10. Definitely a different approach. This is what I like about modeling, the creativity that is available is only a simple thought away. With a bit of planning and a bunch of intestinal fortitude, anyone can build almost anything their mind can conceive. Where did you find that body?
  11. Like the looks of this custom. I have one in my stash I am considering building with these custom pieces. BTW, thanks for your service from another SEA survivor.
  12. Beautiful build. Like the color combination and as mentioned that seat pattern is outstanding. Only thing missing is a couple of suitcases and kids in the back.
  13. Kind of nice piece of equipment. Would make another nice looking tool on the already overcrowded work bench. Where might one purchase one of these?
  14. A lot of that seems to be going around, seems to be fairly contagious..
  15. Very nice work on the Ranger, just hope mine makes it to that far. Great story. Wondering why the engine bay is so clean on a daily beater?
  16. Stunning build. Lots of detail and weathering to keep my eyes busy. Being a veteran I really like the bumper sticker. Great job.
  17. " Subscription Price Increase for 2019: Due to the increased cost of printing and postage, we have had to increase our subscription rates. The new rates will be in effect from January 2019 forward. For one year, it’s $30 for six issues, and $50 for two years (12 issues). " OK, this is becoming absurdly ridiculous. We have not had an issue in almost a year, and now the subscription rates are going up. There was a promise of issue #206 supposedly coming in September/October, yet have not seen or heard anything since then. I may be out of line here and possibly removed from the forum for my next comment. If the magazine is going belly-up, then tell us and stop leading us on with hollow promises. I realize management has health issues, but if he cannot continue then let us know. This magazine was one of the best in the hobby and the articles were geared toward the builder. I was a buyer for many years and finally became a subscriber in 2012, even then knowing delivery was a hit or miss proposition. So, where are we now - hit or miss?
  18. I woke up at 5:30 this morning and it is my day off. Of course I guess that could be considered sleeping in, since I normally get up at 4:00. Well, at least I will be able to get an early start at getting ready for this "winter storm" that is coming our way tonight. Which is another "irk", I hate winter storms.
  19. Outstanding build. The color choice is straight from the '50's, I remember well those colorful days.
  20. Definitely a different approach. For some reason when I saw the picture of the transmission I thought of the "Joker" from Batman.
  21. I am very proud of myself. I just walked through Hobby Lobby, picked up several kits looked at the box-art on all sides; if they were AMT checked out the parts shadow on the bottom, and left without buying any of them. Of course there are a couple of kits there that are going to make me buy them sometime in the very near future. That being said, once I get my basement back together and get my storage area set back up, I am going to divide them into "must keep with the intention of building" or "trade fodder/swap meet sales". Let's see how long that will last without moving kits around.
  22. That windshield does look much better. Keep on sanding, but don't inhale the dust. Looking forward to updates.
  23. I got one also. My X-Acto's hang alright - by the blade.
  24. Seems to be a prevalent problem, I have also had this issue.
  25. Very impressive scratchbuilding and excellent weathering effects. One beautiful build.
