Plymouth. But if you are asking which model kit, I am in the same dilemma. Very few of the Roadrunners and other mid-level Mopars in the local area were Hemi's or 440's.

Definitely one of the more pleasing designs of Chevy truck, but I am still partial to the '69-72 body styles. The first pick-up I ever owned was a '72 C-10 long-bed with a 350, automatic, AM radio and optional rear bumper. Got a wonderful 10 mpg, until I added a Holley 650 double-pumper, Tarantula intake, and Cyclone headers, then it dropped to 8 mpg; when you nailed the throttle you could watch the gas gauge drop. Enough about that, this is turning into a great build. I really like the engine detail, looking forward to updates

NHRA Super Gas '66 Chevy II POW Tribute Car
TarheelRick replied to Mister Twister's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Excellent build. Love the theme of this build, our POW/MIA's are often put on the back burner and forgotten about. -
Terrible Box Art
TarheelRick replied to Junkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Actually I am not looking for a Chrysler V-6, that was just a tongue-in-cheek comment about the mistake on the box. -
Terrible Box Art
TarheelRick replied to Junkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Again not necessarily terrible box art, but it is rather corny. The only reason I bought it was for the "detailed 6 cylinder", I have been looking everywhere for a detailed V-6 Chrysler engine. I haven't opened the box yet, it is still sealed, just out of curiosity does this one by chance come with a leaning tower of power 6 cylinder? The bottom of the box only shows the shadow of one engine block and it looks like a "V" not an "I". -
Having to completely dismantle my work area in order to get my basement walls "de-leaked" I had half of the basement done just over two years ago, because that particular area was where all the rain seeped in. However, the back-to-back hurricanes this past summer showed me the other sides also leak. Hindsight sure is a butt-kicker.

WW III, the war on plastic.
TarheelRick replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A local textile company has developed a clothing fabric using recycled plastic bottles. Just saying, the next shirt you buy could have been made from that bottle of soda you drank a few days ago. I do recycle as much as possible, it just seems the right thing to do. Sure wish I could figure some way to turn my leftover sprues into kit plastic. -
Very nice build of Harry's Monte. In my late teens (many years ago) I used to frequent Hickory Motor Speedway every Saturday night and watch Jack Ingram, Ned Setzer, Roy Trantham, and others ripping up the asphalt with their Tri-5's. One night some fellow showed up with a '64 Chevelle and set a brand new track record, he got taken out in the final. The next week Jack Ingram reset the record with his '55 Chevy, but the Chevelle moved it down another notch, and won the feature. That fellow was a young Harry Gant. He had been running Asheville-Weaverville, but decided to give Hickory a try. Within a couple of years he was running Winston Cup.

Really beautiful Sedan Delivery. I like the idea of the duallys on the rear. Just noticed from that dead-on rear view it almost looks as if the top has been chopped. Nice work.

426 Hemi information needed.
TarheelRick replied to Brutalform's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Not trying to be a smart alack, but has there ever been a "factory race-only" part that did not see some street use? -
I must agree with this opinion. I built a stock-hauler from the Revell 1/32 Mack Pumper firetruck,. I cut the back half of the cab off, reversed and raised it to form a sleeper. I tried every trick listed here, you can see where I inserted the white styrene, the gold paint covered wonderfully.

INSPIRED THINKING- Cheap Tips for Frugal Modelers
TarheelRick replied to 62rebel's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
A variation on cheap flexible sanding sticks is to use the Styrofoam trays food products are packaged in. Use rubber cement, stick on whatever grit paper you want, use an X-acto handle to roll the paper flat and assure a good bond, then cut into pieces and shapes that you need. This works especially well for small triangular or spherical shapes to get into those difficult corners. -
From a quick search it appears the Chevelle and the GTO both had 115" wheelbases, so that should not cause any problems. I have the same issue, right now I am working on a similar, but reversed build. I am using the Revell Dodge Magnum SRT8 and building it into a roadster pick-up. A whole lot less body work than your idea, but still am bogged down. Of course, at the moment my model area is being taken apart so I can get some basement leakage problems solved.

Michael's coupon 50% this week
TarheelRick replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My local Michael's had only two or three models on the shelves prior to Christmas and the shelf area had been reduced drastically. When I asked the "store manager" about it, I got the typical shoulder shrug and suggested I email corporate. I did and here is their answer: " Thank you for contacting us! I apologize for the issue you are having locating models in our stores. We are currently going through a vendor transition which is why you are having issues locating product. We are working as quickly as possible to get a new vendor in and back to fully stocked shelves. If I may be of further assistance, please let me know. I'm here to help! Sincerely, Marianne Michaels Customer Care" -
Is that Styline kit a '61 or a '62 Ford. All I have ever seen are '61 Ford Galaxies.

'AMT' Custom Econoline
TarheelRick replied to Mattblack's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Groovy. Looks right out of the 70's. Simple custom look, not overly done. Almost bought a Ford van in '72, but settled for a C-10 Chevy pickup. -
My take on the amt bulldozer

Beautiful work. Really like that mud dripping off the blade. -
1974 Chevy Corvette......my one and only for '18.
TarheelRick replied to MrObsessive's topic in Model Cars
Not much for Vettes, except the first gen Stingrays 63-67, but this one is a real beauty. I may have to reconsider using the ones in my stash for trading fodder and actually try building one. Of course, it will be nowhere close to the exceptional work seen here. -
I suffer from CSBM too!
TarheelRick replied to drag racer 15's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am in the process of having work done in my basement. Just so happens it is the corner I have designated my work area. I have had to move all my unbuilts to another location in the basement. I thought they were impressive one-deep on the shelves, they are intimidating stacked on a table. I believe my wife is going shopping with one of her friends one day this week, when she does I will go in the opposite direction to Ollie's, Hobby Lobby, Michael's, A.C. Moore to browse through what they have. It IS an addiction. -
A couple of months ago I noticed every time the wife and I went into a restaurant or went shopping my phone would come up with a message "How did you enjoy your....? I went to my local Veri- - - store and talked with the technician about this. He turned off my Google maps and at least this form of invasion has stopped. Glad to hear about the rewards card tracking. I probably knew about that, but it had resigned to the recesses of my mind. It appears "1984" is here, only 35 years later.

organizing parts
TarheelRick replied to John Pol's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a few of the storage drawer units (a little bigger than shoeboxes, two drawers, some larger, some smaller), these I use for bigger parts and glue-bomb bodies. Then I have several of the flat boxes with internal dividers, which I use for wheels, tires, and other small parts. I am in the process of rebuilding my model work area, so I hope to be able to better organize my "organization" of parts. Oh yeah, I also have one three drawer roll around cart which I keep WIP's in. -
Really enjoy watching the work you are doing on this one, very creative. One thing that does bother me though, is the windshield opening appears to be rather top heavy. Meaning the opening has too much roof above the top of the windshield. Maybe that is the way you have designed it. Just my thoughts, keep those updates coming.

WOW, those are definitely some beautiful builds. You have been busy. Love the many different styles - drag, custom, street; all very well represented.

Santa was pretty good to me. I wasn't even expecting a lump of coal. Got some good reading/reference material, a couple sets of "duallys" from Modelhaus to build a couple of haulers, and a Dremel to replace/supplement the weakening Black & Decker I have had for 30+ years.
