  1. Really cool build. Especially like the detail of the air vents poking out of the window openings.
  2. The original RWD Chevelles, the '65 especially, followed closely by '66 & '67.
  3. You mean I can't use my 5' disc grinder? What fun is that. Thanks to both of you for your help.
  4. OK, what is the accepted procedure for polishing virgin plastic? Do you use progressively finer wet polishing pads and finish off with a good wax, or do you use a liquid/paste combination? I mentioned in an earlier post I have the Dirty Donny GTX, I also have a very pretty black Academy Hyundai Azera/Grandeur I would like to polish. Any help will be appreciated.
  5. I've had this one for many years and would not trade it for anything. I don't remember where I got it or how much it cost, but I know it was worth every penny.
  6. Ours was not a Scout but a 4-door CarryAll or whatever they were called. We rescued it from the junkyard. Mechanically it was in pretty good shape, it needed a few minutes in the motor pool, the floor had large holes in it, the fenders were perforated and the top was rusted almost the full length along the passenger side drip rail. But I worked in the welding/sheetmetal shop, so we spent a lot of time patching and backyard engineering it to run.
  7. Reminds me of the one I drove while stationed at Shemya, AK, except ours was a four-door IH and the top had rusted through along the drip rail. Very nice weathering, looks to be rode hard and put away wet.
  8. A few years back I went into the HL in Spartanburg, SC and right out front was a table of clearance items. In the middle was the Monogram Big Deuce marked for $11.49. SNATCH!!! before anyone else even thought about getting it. I did pick up the Big Tub a few months later for $32.49.
  9. I must reflect all the above comments. This is one fine and nasty MOPAR. Congratulations on getting that black paint job to look so smooth.
  10. I like what you are doing with this. Scale-Master mentioned the balance, to me the C-Pillar seems to be too wide. It would require a bit of work but in my thought a 4-6 scale inch reduction in vertical width of the C-pillar would make it less top heavy. That being said, it is your model, build it the way it suits you and I am sure it will come out fine. Looking forward to updates.
  11. Wouldn't want to try parking that one at WalMart. Mighty fine rig.
  12. I may be late to the game or completely off base, but have you considered the Revell Parts Pack 427 Ford engine? It can be built blown or with 2X4 carbs.
  13. Not much finer than a pink early T-Bird. Very nice build.
  14. Super build. Just enough weathering to let it be known this a a true work truck, but not so much as to make it look abused. I have to try that one of these days.
  15. Yeah, but that Flattie would sound so much cooler than a plain old SBC.
  16. Thanks for the tips. I was just down at my bench a couple hours ago and noticed I do have the two-part hanging on my pegboard, still in its blister pack. Will be digging it out when I get back to doing some more bodywork.
  17. I have been using the stuff that comes in one tube and notice it has the same tendency to separate. Thanks for the advice on mixing it. I have a question concerning one issue I had recently. I was trying to build up a flat surface and spread it really thin over the surface. As it dried it began to split, sorry I didn't take a picture, but this has happened once before. After final sanding it came out all right, but I am concerned about trying to build up a surface with it. Also does using a dehydrator have any good or bad effects on this stuff?
  18. Simply amazing watching this one come together. Looks so much like the farm trucks that used to run around here.
  19. A deuce is a deuce and I would not turn any of them away. Of all the ones posted I really was turned on by the green one in the third row of Ace's post. Moon discs, wide white, channeled, looks mighty fine.
  20. Unfortunately that is where our culture is today. When our school systems, even up through college level, offers safe places, refuses to allow open discussion of issues because they do not agree with another opinion, et. al., then we have indeed stepped over the slippery slope. We have gotten to the point where warm fuzzies have overtaken reality. Personally I will not offer criticism of a build on the open forum. I may PM the builder, not with criticism per se, but more with a question of "Was this your intention?". Most responses, if I do indeed get one, are positive with an "oops" or "thanks for bringing that up."
  21. Very realistic looking skin tones. Real close resemblance of Steve McQueen.
  22. Does this kit come with a Sigourney figure? Doing good work with this, ummm, different kit.
  23. Build it, because as soon as you do someone will rerelease or offer a new tool of a 70 Roadrunner and we all can indulge.
  24. Looks like a good start. These conversions are fun for me to watch someone else do.
  25. I love Gassers, and other than the 41 Willys the 55 Chevy is the epitome of the breed. You have built one beautiful machine. Just looks fast sitting there. Thanks for sharing.
